Am I the only one that enjoy the LS
Legendary SoloQ
Every time you ask “Am I the only one that […]” the answer is always “No, you’re not”, and the resulting discussion has always already been had in other threads.
I’m not against the concept, I just don’t think it is doing anything it set out to do. I don’t feel the world s changing or driving forward at all. It’s just a linear story rolled out in chapters that have yet to start connectng up.
If diff stories were going on around the world eg Centaur wars, charr/human treaty actually being signed rather than a year of the same ppl standing around in a tent etc, then it would be a Living World of sorts.
It also needs an infrastructure rather badly for communicating the lore and background to avoid new players ignoring all this going on around them. Plenty of ppl have joined that I know and have no interest in the LS because it makes no sense or doesnt affect them or they missed previous chapters. As someone pointed out, Living Story for new players is like starting a book halfway through.
Is it a good idea? Well I’m happy to see it through, feeding back where it desp needs improvements. Is it creating a living, breathing world? For me no, not yet – not even close in fact.

yes, yes you are indeed.
Am I the only one that enjoy the LS
Yes, just you and Anet.
I do want to know more about the Elder Dragons and I do detest Scarlet being involved in every story. But I will say I do enjoy the living story, I log on and play it for a an hour or so each day for a week until I get my meta achievement and then patiently wait for the next update.
It is good fun, but the pacing is a bit too fast. I would prefer a three week schedule as I do feel stressed to complete things in time and do want to play other things once in a while.
I think it’s fine. I’m just a little sad that they probably won’t be able to add the other continents to Guild Wars 2 if they keep up this 4 Team Update plan.

That’s why you enjoy it. You play it an hour a day, but there are people who complete it within one day, and have to quit the game until new event begins if they don’t want to be bored to death. Even you, person playing it an hour a day, complete it within one week and have to wait another one for new content. Not to mention since Scarlet it’s a non stop grind for meta achi, not fun, not entertaining or world changing content. It’s over a year since Zhaitan been killed and yet nothing happened.
I’m sure you aren’t the only one who enjoys it. But for many people (like myself) who do not want the continuous stress of time-gated, achievement-grinding, temporary content thrown at them relentlessly without any breaks, it is a complete deal-breaker.
Hate, hate, hate Living Story, and it needs to go away or at least be slowed down to a 2 or 3 month schedule.
yes, yes you are indeed.
Speak for yourself. Thank you

People are just mad at Scarlet for two reasons:
1) She is still alive.
2) We don’t know her motives.
1)Most of the playerbase of this game, but of any MMO in general, doesn’t want the villain to last for more than 3-4 patches in the case of Living World.
Well, we always go like: (after the antagonist is dead) “Wow, the villain was such a kitten. He could have just done <insert obvious tactic to kill heroes> or <insert obvious way to evade the heroes and bide its time>”
Now, for ONCE, we have the villain achieve almost impossible feats, but reasonable after all (even for lore fanatics like me…but that’s just my opinion), like uniting whole armies of different races and beliefs, and, at the same time, act as a SMART-minded person, playing behind the scenes while not getting captured like a total kitten.
2)We can’t understand the length of what Scarlet had to go through even BEFORE delving deep inside the Eternal Alchemy and (supposedly) go “crazy”. We also don’t know why she is doing all of this.
Do you think the storywriters seriously made her attack the whole of Tyria just because she went nuts? We have yet to see her motives.
I believe that once the story finally unfolds (and it’s gonna take some more LW stories) most of the Scarlet haters will believe the storywriters done a great job and will in turn either outright love her character or at least understand why she did all of this.
Time will tell.
the thing that i hate most about LS is the pacing. its just hard to actually take the time to enjoy it when it feels so rushed. buy thats just my opinion
What is the living story? I stopped reading the online blog so I guess for my character it was like – he is fighting invasions, all over sudden it stopped. Everyone talked about some virtual world and the invasions became less frequent. Then there was a dragon who learnt a few tricks and now the mad king has arrived as expected.
Why is that WvW thing listed under the living story achievements btw?
It’s not that I dislike the living story, not at all – but if this was a TV series, as it has been compared to, I think I would have lost interest already.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Aside from the belief I have that some of these releases shouldn’t be just 2 weeks, I don’t mind the Living Story idea and actually welcome it at times.

Precisely, but the role of a living world is to hard to make how the game is build, the fact there isnt a living world becouse world do not change according to events, players do not decide how world change, so players do not have impact on world, it is just a pretend and follow the script, every redundancy in the events will always have the same final outcome being the end good or bad, they will not lead to better changes and harder content if player fails.
Living story (i wont use the living world), should see every players at the same level, i ment just as a group or army, it should be the place were guilds/groups could avoid the worse scenarios to happen and then the needing to fix things up, not just a zerg to farm event, lets say tequalt events peopel fails tequalt would gain more map and invade X area, as players in WvW need to improve the “shrines” with better walls, some quest in PvE could lead to improve camps to fight any dragon that gain terrain, but the cleverness of overflows(wich is a good thing in some cases and i understand) can limit the game in that aspect of being a true living world, LS story feels like an excuse for something and just marketing lies.
You aren’t. For every MMO the forums are littered with complaining/negativity/bashing and they really are a small % of the populace. Most of the time to witness people ego tripping to get their points across (this is the internet no one is wrong!). You don’t see positive posts very often because well, they are content and playing.
I’m sure you aren’t the only one who enjoys it. But for many people (like myself) who do not want the continuous stress of time-gated, achievement-grinding, temporary content thrown at them relentlessly without any breaks, it is a complete deal-breaker.

Achievment grinding is your choice. So beacuse of your choice ALL players in the game should wait 2-3 months for the new patch. No thank you.
