Being useless
Yup, I enjoyed the story all the way up until THIS ONE AREA. This is absolute horrid game design because you are completely gated from actually playing the game, or making a come back. Its simply, your died, time for time out for you.
This part needs a bit of a rework.
I was in your situation some weeks ago – and on the other side some days ago. Did Mordremoth solo with my Dragonhunter while the Rest of the party watched.
My complete equipment had soldier stats, so it was easy, but took a long time.
There are really much better options to penalize death than this.
Hint: No game I know ever did this. Guess why…
The same as sniq. Easy with soldier guard but it took me like 30 minutes.
It’s intended to be done solo, and if you die solo, it’s a full reset. The penalty box is just to make it a little similar, plus dying means you lost control of your mind or at least the connection to the dream. If anything, while you’re in the penalty box, an NPC (a clone of you) representing the control over you should be added to the encounter. Upon the death of that NPC, you should appear downed in its place, allowing others to get you back up. Alternatively, simply add a 60 second automatic respawn.

Generally, in most MMOs you can’t revive dead people while in combat.
I’m not a fan of this either. I play through the personal story with my wife on all our characters and almost without fail she gets killed and off to the box. Then I spend the next few dozen minutes finishing the story on my own.
Instead of a permanent ‘penalty box’ make it have a five minute timer or some such thing so people in there have a shot at rejoining the story without requiring the surviving players to intentionally die.
Do the mission solo then.

This.
I keep dying to the flying part too. My problem is I can’t often see the jump drafts, and sometimes it seems like they don’t make me jump high. The updrafts are kinda hard to see from the sky too. Doesn’t help that if you need to start over, it takes you quite some time to get back to the flying parts.
Call me a noob, but I’ve been so frustrated that I just stopped trying to beat the story for now.
They really should just put some checkpoints in the fight and leave the whole penalty box, start-the-fight-over business for Extreme Mode, where it’s thematically more appropriate.
