Here is my prediction of what will happen in the near future.

Background:

Scarlet and the Aetherblade has stocked up a huge army for the upcoming battle:

-50 Airships – these airships can be used to drop bombs onto cities and parachute troops into the city.
-100s of Dredge tunneling machines – these machines dug underground tunnels and then burst out from underground. The machine itself can carry only 3 or 4 soldiers. But troops behind them can use these tunnels as walkways to quickly get into a besieged city.
-1000s of Clockwork Chaos, Twisted Nightmare fighting machines – these machines are the corrupted version of the Watchknights. Now they obey Scarlet and kill all humans without mercy.
-1000s of troops of Aetherblades, Molten Alliance, Inquest and Nightmare Court

The Battle:

On the day of the attack, everything looks peaceful in Divinity’s Reach. Shops just opened in the morning sun. But unknown to the city’s inhabitants, death and destruction are just minutes away.

A child was playing with her friends, when she noticed a huge shadow on the ground. She looked up, and she saw a huge airship. She has never seen an airship before…

And that’s when the first explosion happened. And the next. And the next. The carpet bombing of Divinity’s Reach has began.

The people of Divinity’s Reach has been awakened by the sound of modern warfare. The huge walls of Divinity’s Reach and its army is no longer enough to keep its people safe. Technology has overcome the concept of a front line.

Divinity’s Reach have a few airships of its own, and its crew fought bravely. However they were eventually overwhelmed by the Aetherblade’s airships.

The bombs keep falling all over the city. Nowhere is safe. People rushed into the sewage, the only place that offers any protection. But there isn’t enough room for everyone. In the madness some people were trampled to death.

Then suddenly the bombing stopped. And it was silent.

The people begin to get out of the sewage. They look up at the airships in awe. Did they ran out of bombs?

Suddenly there is a humming sound from underground. It got louder and louder, and suddenly Dredge war machines busted out from underground. A few soldiers exited out of them, and behind these machines come more troops from the tunnels.

People started panicking. People started running. The enemies shown no mercy, and killed everyone that they caught. The Seraphs was surprised by the sudden underground attack and were powerless to stop the onslaught.

The most frightening of their weapons was the Clockwork Chaos, or Twisted Nightmare. These machines are soulless, and were always the first to charge its way into civilians for the slaughter. After the war, many civilians will suffer from post-traumatic disorder from these cold blooded war machines.

The enemies now fights their way to the Asuran gates, and destroyed them to cut off reinforcement. They then move toward the royal palace to capture Queen Jennah.

The Pact Arrives

Due to the destruction of the Asuran Gate, the Pact had to walk their way to Divinity’s Reach. They sent their elite troops and heroes ahead in their airships. But by the time they got there, the whole city was already up in flames. Thousands of people were already dead.

The Pact airships then engage the Aetherblade airships in battle. This would be the first air to air battle in history. The Pact would come out victorious.

The Pact then engages the enemies on the ground. The battle was street to street, house to house in the city ruins. All around them was fire, deaths, screams, ruins and chaos. After much tough fighting, the Pact finally expelled the invaders from the city. Scarlet laughed as she escapes, saying her task here was more than completed.

Aftermath

The Pact expelled the invaders and saved the city of Divinity’s Reach. But with thousands of deaths, this will have an everlasting affect on history.

1) Queen Jennah is universally viewed as a failure – The Watchknights were her “gift” to humanity. However the Watchknights led to Clockwork Chaos, which killed more humans than they ever protected

Queen Jennah was also at fault for not preparing the humans for this onslaught. She was the one who directed all the human resources in support of the Pact, which weakened the human defenses for itself.

Many people now call Queen Jennah “soft” and not strong enough to protect humanity.

2) Public protests – For weeks after this invasion, the civilian population will held protests against the rule of Queen Jennah. They want her replaced by Minister Caudecus.

Due to public pressure, and to avoid a civil war, Queen Jennah abdicated her throne 2 months after the invasion. Kryta is now a republic, the first in known history.

3) Minister Caudecus becomes prime minister of the Kryta Republic– His rule is governed by a policy of “humanity first”. He greatly reduced his support for the Pact. These resources would instead go toward improving the human army and technology. His stance toward the Charr will also grow increasingly hostile.

4) Defensive upgrades in both Divinity’s Reach and Ebonhawke – It is clear that modern technology have rendered the huge walls of the cities obsolete. As a result huge improvements to both cities were made soon after the invasion.

5) Weakening of the Pact – Many human heroes stays with the Pact and their respective Orders. However the Kryta Republic no longer officially support the Pact. With the withdrawal of human nation’s support, the Pact lost a lot of its funding and manpower. The human’s growing hostility with the Charr nation further weakens the Pact.

Thanks man! ^^

I was thinking about where Scarlet will be using her airships. Then it dawn on me that an urban centre is the best place to use them. A compact population guarantees maximum casualty from carpet bombing.

They are currently hidden in north western Maguuma Jungle, north west of the production facility in Twilight Arbor. This area has not been explored by the current players.

With the amount of explosive you’re talking about wouldn’t it be more effective to just use flame legion shamans in conjunction with the airship’s carpet bombing, with that much fire it could easily consume all of the oxygen in the city and those not killed by the explosives would suffocate from lack of oxygen?

Why so much hate for Queen Jennah? She is anything BUT a failure, there’s no way that she would be seen as one given her many successes regardless of the Watchwork situation which undoubtedly could be pointed at somebody other than the Queen, too as it’s not like she’s the one who created them. People aren’t going to just forget the treaty, or the fact that the pact even came to listen about working together partially because of her, or the part where the Order of Whispers is extremely pro-Jennah and part of their job is to ensure the continued success of her reign. Or going back to the treaty, and the fact Ebonhawke would probably be in shambles by now and instead Charr and Humanity are helping each other re-settle the Ascalonian region.

Then you get to Minister Caudacus, who quite obviously is a very vile and evil man and by now many people would be very aware of this, especially following the story in CM and then the Order of Whispers where you find out just how vile and horrible he can be. Queen Jennah on the other hand is egalitarian and extremely popular so while I think your thoughts are interesting, they seem very one sided by disregarding all the successes of Jennah’s relatively short reign (she did, after all accomplish a lot of this in her late teens and early 20s). People just don’t operate that hastily against the very foundation and structure of their society without just cause. Not all that many monarchies have been disbanded because their nation was invaded, especially when the leadership has been quite successful and popular to that point. And you would have to take all of this into account, not just things that are largely out of her hands over the last 6+ months.

What I CAN see happening is Minister Caudacus moving for a coup against the Queen and possibly taking over against everybodies will in a sort of dictatorship, and then we have to fight back and remove him from power, restoring the Queen, or at least somebody of the royal family back to the throne should she die or something.

Also, I’d like to point out that this event is supposed to take place across ALL of the Tyrian region, not Kryta alone.

They might very well use magic in addition to bombs for even more damage. Let your imagination run wild. XD

Also, I’d like to point out that this event is supposed to take place across ALL of the Tyrian region, not Kryta alone.

The popularity of a leader depends on his/her ability to keep her people safe. Once thousands starts dying, their popularity would drop dramatically.

As a real example, we can look at the monarchies in WW1. Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany, Franz Joseph I of Austria, Tsar Nicholas II and Mehmet VI of Turkey were all popular monarchs before the start of WW1. But toward the middle of WW1 as the war puts too much stress on their kingdom, and these countries suffers defeat after defeat, the population turns against them. That’s four monarchies dissolved by the end of WW1, with some on the “winning” side.

Another common misconception is that democratic republics are “awesome” right from the start. They rarely are. During the early years a republic often bring about more problems than it resolves. It was a dangerous time of a mixture of high ideals (traitors to our high ideals must die), nationalism (we are the strongest, so let’s kill the weak) and power struggle (I should be dictator not him). Examples includes France, Germany, Russia and China. USA was in fact an exception to the terrors often seen in other early republics.

And so nope I never said Minister Caudacus will be a good ruler. Neither did I ever said the change into Kryta Republic will lead to peace and prosperity. Its just the wheel of fortune turning and time is up for Queen Jennah.

Why would people want Minister Caudacus more than Queen Jennah? People choose the wrong leader all the time. That’s the same question as why did the people want Lenin and Stalin more than Tsar Nicholas II, and why the German people voted for Mr. H.

Tsar Nicholas II was not a popular monarch at all, whatsoever. He was honestly quite terrible at the job, even self admittedly. A lot of his best decisions came at the behest or advice of other members of the family, most notably Czarina/Empress Alexandria (his wife). But he was quite famously arrogant and stubborn while also lacking any true skill at diplomacy, and most of the time made the wrong choices. If his father had not died when he did then Russia would have likely become a constitutional monarchy a la the United Kingdom, but Nicholas II was against it and had to take over at a young age so by the time he made any motion to move towards that direction it was too late. Also, the Bolshevik’s were masters of propaganda and Lenin made promises to the people that the imperial family would not be harmed, and were being moved for their protection, so that once the “new era” had settled in they would be placed back in with a more controlled influence, instead of being an autocracy. Once it was quite obvious they had no intention of any such thing, the people actually turned on the revolution quite quickly and even joined militia’s formed and organized by Imperial loyalists to try and rescue the Imperial family from Siberia.

It’s not all cut and dry/black and white as “we’re tired of you, your time is up, goodbye.”, and we don’t honestly get a sense of desperation strong or dark enough in Kryta for me to really think this is the direction they’re headed with the story.

There are many monarchies that have survived the test of time and served as a genuine boon to their societies and economies, as is the case of the UK & their commonwealth nations.

If you look & listen around Kryta & Divinity’s Reach, there are a lot of citizens that don’t trust Minister Caudacus and even don’t particularly care for the ministry. Minister Caudacus is an elitist, and quite blatantly so. He, and the ministry actually appear to favor the well being of the elite over the prosperity of the many. Queen Jennah is egalitarian, so while situations out of her control may be constantly straining it seems like the people themselves are quite happy with her overall. She is one of the only remaining secure/constant structures of human society and culture, so I find it unlikely that anyone would support a Ministry or Caudacus takeover of Kryta at this point in time.

The events surrounding this living story become increasingly “international” if you will, with each update. Less centered in Kryta itself where it technically began, and has now become a problem in every region of the accessible world. That alone doesn’t really show me any indication that a shift of power is happening any time soon with the Krytan kingdom. Of course, I could be wrong and you could be right but I really just don’t think that’s going to happen. I really think if they do anything like that it will be relatively similar to GW1 where perhaps if the Minister does make a coup for the throne, we will be actively working towards removing him from power as he is quite clearly an antagonist and restoring the Queen or her family to their rightful place as they really haven’t steered us wrong yet and it would absolutely destroy any genuine connection to GW1, and the game already severely lacks that as it is. Again, most of these events are things that are far out of anybodies control. We’re dealing with very advanced enemies that appear to have almost every advantage against us and NONE of the other races nations are any better than the human nation at preventing any of these catastrophes. I think we’re beyond the point of pointing fingers at any specific person except for the specific antagonists.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Minister Caudacus was in on Scarlett’s attacks, even funding them. It’s already basically been coming out that he is doing this with the Centaur’s and anarchists/bandits to try and make the Queen look more ineffective than she really is. So I think it’s more likely we’d be dealing with him as an antagonist we PREVENT from taking power, rather than someone who actually does take it and forces us to be depressed and disappointed for the next year or two.

After the destruction of the human capital, the treaty to make peace with the charrs has been rushed due to the new and horrifying slaughter on the city.
Not only charr, but tengu and skritt had been gathering forces to help their fellow race because of the same feelings of war, death and pestilence their rotten family left after their cold-blooded stories.
This new alliance of races has come to the decision of repopulating and constructing a new capital and a new home: the center of Orr.

The azura have a chance to prove themselves as a superior race and with their advanced technology they are able to destroy most aetherblade airships including the one were Scarlet was, bringing her a painful, cruel and grotesque death with the help of a group of heroes (us) that enjoyed every single second of her screams.

Sylvari and norn are excluded from this war because each of this races have their own war to fight, against the jungle dragon and Jormag.

Massive life lost from every race happen because of the events that have recently appeared on tyria. Most part of each of the worker and common people of the race have been death since Scarlet’s death, including children. The Heroes that remain in the aftermath are in charge to continue the fight and to help repopulate their own cities and towns. Some heroes have to learn to have a normal worker life because of the lack of merchants.

The BLTC was destroyed and now it’s the job of this heroes to reconstruct the economy and the trading system.

I don’t know how to tell stories but this would be cool for me to see after Scarlet is dead. Ye, I know I suck at writing but I can lie to myself that this is well written. Also sorry for any grammar issues since english is not my main language.

I’d rather they blew up the Black Citadel instead, then the only good deed Scarlet will ever do (aside from blowing up the Black Citadel), is planting false evidence that the Blood Legion is in league with Scarlet, while the Ash Legion had been conspiring with the Flame Legion all this time. Since this is a civil war, the Pact had been prohibited to intervene by the Imperators.

My thief of Ascalonian decent will watch with delight from the walls of Ebonhawke as the charr slowly killed themselves (along with Scarlet).

Like I said when thousands start dying the people’s opinion can change very rapidly. They want some sort of hope, and if Caudacus can convince the people that he is their salvation he will be the new leader. Caudacus doesn’t need to be the better leader, nor does the people have to love him currently. It is what happens after this carpet bombing that counts.

No one in Germany took Mr. H. seriously neither, before the great depression.

As for Caudacus leading a rebellion, yes that’s entirely possible. My prediction is just one of many directions that the story writers can take the story. But story wise I like mine better because I prefer anti-villains (e.g. Caudacus thinks he is doing the best thing for Kryta) instead of pure villains (e.g. Caudacus just wants money and power).

Its got nothing to do with human hate. Scarlet pick humans because its the best choice in breaking the Pact apart.

Hoelbrak – Not really a huge city. Most Norns lives outside of the city. Taking over Hoelbrak will have very little affect on the Norn sociality. They never believed in the “city” life style.

The Grove – The Sylvari is ruled absolutely by the Pale Tree. So the Pale Tree must change to change the Sylvari sociality. Bloodshed alone will not be enough to bring forth such change.

Black Citadel – This is too well defended. Black Citadel is probably the best defended of the 5 capital cities.

Rata Sum – It is already flying in the sky. That reduce the advantage of using airships against it. Dredge tunneling machines are useless against Rata Sum because it is flying. And finally, the Asurans might have some secret technologies to defendin against an invasion.

Divinity’s Reach – A densely populated city that relies on outdated walls for its defence. This city is the hub of economics and politics in the human sociality. Its lay out is ideal for carpet bombing. And there is already internal power struggles.
