Dancer in the Dark
I also recommend using a ranged weapon it makes it a lot easier.

Ive tried it with longbow, bud still got killed in the last 25%. Thx alot for youre reply!!
Go in with some other people, just having a second person that can rez you in case you die should do the trick.
When he spawns a billion minions, run off into a corner somewhere and don’t attack them unless they come close to you. They’ll eventually despawn (well, most of them do, there are usually a couple that stick around) once the boss starts flying around, and if you don’t attack them they tend to chase the Zephyrites instead. That, I find, is by far the most dangerous attack it does in the final phase. Those minions hurt like heck in Challenge Mode (usually do about 4k damage a hit).
Go in with a group – stay outside the vines blocking the way – they kill him and you get the achievement.

That’s not really completing the achievement.
Also, soloing this (D/D + SB or P/P Thief) has been the least fun thing in the game thus far for me. Adding even more opportunities for potentially chained knockdowns/stuns and covering the entire arena in an AoE is not the right way to make the fight harder.
I did it on thief. It helps if you use the shortbow evade to help juke the arena AoE. Also, traiting for Feline Grace and slotting Withdraw worked great for me too.

My problem is, that the fight does not completely reset if you die. My very first try went pretty well, till I died at 10%. But then a myriad of adds were still there. I waited, but for some reason they did not despawn. Before I could kill all the stragglers the (normally) first wave spawned and they simply overwhelmed me. Happened afterwards too…
Then I made a pause because I was so frustrated that ANet was unable to fix such an so easy to find bug.
The dead aspect is a sort of a safe spot. Use it before they decide to nerf it. You shouldn’t get grabbed and you’re out of the trample range, but you’ll have to evade or heal through the circular AoE attack.
This fight caused me a lot of frustration too, but I finally made it. (GS shatter mesmer build) At the final moments I almost had no time to attack the boss with the tendrils and minions swamping me and I got downed twice, but got it in the end. Very satisfying, but still I feel like a tiny bit too hard for a story achievement. Your mileage may vary. (inb4 “I solo it with my eyes closed on starter gear” comments.)
Do it in a group. I did it in a group of three, and again in a group of five. It was ridiculously easy. Unfortunately a lot of the LS achievements aren’t super easy for solo play.
FINALLY beat this.
Resilience of Shadows + Shadow Refuge for the AOE, just tank it. Don’t shoot. He just stands there for a while before starting it, that’s a pretty good time to get some backstabs in for damage. Dagger storm helps with the adds, survival is more important there than dealing damage to the boss.
Such a pain.
I had a difficult time getting this on my own. I’d get him to about 5% and would die before I could finish him off. Having a friend come in with me helped a lot, since our combined DPS let us burn him from 25% to 0% very quickly.
Keep your back to the wall as much as possible (especially during the malformed spawns, aerial bombardment and big aoe phases). Use ranged attacks for everything (even the “melee” phase). And as for the big aoe? Don’t use zerker. Any tougher build can just survive through the damage.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
I finally managed this on my zerker ele last night (yes I could have done it on my tanky guard but wanted the challenge). I’d say a staff and IB is a must – you can skip straight to the charge phase after his first stationary spell with IB 4, staff 5 and 2 on fire. The only difficult bit is survivng the shout and charge phases in the last 25% but your auto attack on staff does enough damage to slowly get him down plus with the shield utility you can block the damage and thats enough time to get a meteor shower or IB4 off during the shout phase. The challenge is managing the cds of the block/invul utilities and dodges while being able to stay alive during the charge and add spawn phase. Pretty much everything one shots in challenge mode on a squishy so there’s no room for error.
Finally got this on my Mesmer with 2 Warriors and Elementalist. The biggest thing that hurt our group was the other 3 players running around the middle of the arena instead of staying at the edge.
I think the whole area AOE was definaly trolling the player; I tried jump, dodge, scratching my head while rubbing my belly and sacrifacing my 1st born and still could barely get through it.
Did it the 1st try on Challenge Mode. You have to Kite and walk with the boss in he field of view (similar to a boss fight in Zelda with Z-targetting, if you know that). You have to watch 2-3 things simultanously though. It is not too hard and very fun – if they continue with this kind of achievements → nice!
Edit: I mean I also did the No Teragriff attack achievement during the challenge mode.

I think this achievement is far easier than certain achievements from before the break… like the Mordrem Thrasher boss in Entanglement… those achievements are made so you must have a group… at least this boss, while mechanics can be a kittenallenging, is very doable solo.

Dit it on my own on first try with my full bersi shatter mesmer … was a hell of a fight.
No idea what i dit to survive that fight xD

Did it on my guard on the 2nd try – and it usually takes me ages to figure out how to handle content like this. Staff 1 spam with my back to the wall during the phases with the adds (it knocks the adds back, and staff 2 will make it most of the way across the area and take out more of them), and kiting like my life depended on it (’cause it does) during the other phases with scepter/focus. Stability and aegis help a lot here.
If you are having trouble with the adds, there is a section of the wall to the left of the vine block that looks like a mini-corner. You can back up in there fairly safely when the adds spawn.
Anyone else missing the challenge mote altogether? It’s not appearing in the place shown in the achievement videos for me, and the relevant achievement disappears when I move past to start the cutscene.
/e: nevermind, it’s one of those events that checks for the flag that makes sure you post about it before it appears, so you look dumb

necro staff and Death Shroud. When he flies, stand in that one corner where the tentacles can’t reach you, then you mark every miniteragriff coming for you(the npc finishes of most of them) once that part is over the rest is just a fight of patience
but there are people who will help you get back up when you are downed

All story achievements have been easily soloable so far.
