Is it me or does anyone else find the Dry Top area completely frustrating? I can’t figure out how to navigate even half of this area simply not because I lack the ability; I just become so frustrated with the game/area that I end up turning off my computer and walking away. There’s absolutely no fun in jumping from one rock pile to the next just to become caught up in a sand storm that makes visibility even more irritating. Then, finding yourself turning back around because there is no way through. Also, because of this disconnect from fun to frustrating I fell behind in the story and am lost! This is some what of an easy game to follow however tac on the responsibilities of being an adult, which of course limits the amount of time I have to play, and being frustrated with such a mundane area I can’t help but to find myself allowing a wedge drive itself between this game and I. I hope someone important reads this because I have enjoyed Guild Wars for so long but these last couple months have really tested my loyalty. I can’t/don’t see myself playing with the warrior class too much longer because the adrenaline isn’t worth much anymore because that drains in seconds after a fight! I mean come on… It takes 2-3 times as long to fill… That was my main now I’m struggling to replace that class. Never the less, that’s for another discussion but am I the only one with such feelings about this Dry top area… I was just wondering…

Try to only go into Dry Top from the full hour to 40 minutes past the hour until you are comfortably aquainted with the area, since the sandstorm will be active from :40 to the next full hour every hour.

The whole map is a bit maze-like, and there are a few steps in the story where you have some (easy) jumping with crystals to do, but overall you’ll find that there’s not nearly as many places to go wrong as it seems at first. The map is highly 3-dimensional, which does take some getting used to, but once you know your way around it actually is a very fun and interesting environment.

What part of the story are you stuck on? Which waypoints in Dry Top do you have unlocked? Maybe someone here on the forum can give you a couple of tips to get on with the story, it certainly is worth it. Or, if you are on an EU server, whisper me in-game and I’ll gladly act as a “tour guide” to get you aquainted with the major paths through Dry Top.

Disclaimer: I am an adult with fulltime job and family, too, but still I enjoy Dry Top as a unique and very well-done area.

Got to agree with OP, Dry Top is very frustrating. I am trying to get to the “recalibrating the waypoints” spot for “Dragons reach part 2”. Nothing is straightforward in this area, I have wasted a lot time getting nowhere. Normal maps don’t help here, does anybody have links to specialised Dry Top maps (preferably not videos) that show routes and jumping points ?

Almost all of the main areas/paths don’t require you to jump at all. The only exception to this is the very beginning of the map which does require you to use the Zephyrite Crystal abilities. Everywhere else tends to follow the easiest possible path and you just walk there. If you following each living story chapter through that area the markers actually show you exactly how to get through.

If you have trouble navigating the map or getting through the story instances, whisper me in game when you see me online and I’ll be happy to walk you through, so you can catch up with the story.

I found navigating Dry Top confusing and difficult at first, but now I know the optimal pathways with minimal jumping.

Just let me know if you want company to take the edge off!
