Would you think it would be a good idea if they released the story aspect of the living world as a novel? They could either put it in the view of a mysterious stranger (the player) or one of the main characters.

I think it would be a win win type thing for Anet cause not only will it give another thing for Anet to sell but it would also allow players to know what happened in the previous living stories.

It would be nice if it is written from the perspective of Mr. E, who seems to know a lot of things.

I have enjoyed all their novels, and I hope they release more soon.

Personally, I’d much rather experience the Personal Story rather than read about it in a novel. I love reading and letting my imagination take the lead, but there’s something a little more exciting about living those moments in game and experiencing them. It would make reading about it not as exciting.

I love reading and letting my imagination take the lead, but there’s something a little more exciting about living those moments in game and experiencing them. It would make reading about it not as exciting.

Obviously you didn’t read the topic. It’s not the personal story that would be getting turned into a novel its would be the Living Story and that is after the thing is done when nobody could participate in it.

I would buy it without any hesitation.

Wow… That was completely my bad. I did read the OP, but for some reasons was thinking Personal Story and not Living Story.

I would go absolutely insane with elation if they put it out as a novel. I highly doubt they’ll ever provide us with a means of playing it again, should we have missed it or just recently joined GW2, so I’d more than welcome a novel that goes a bit more in depth with the characters and helps me better understand the lore.

I’d buy anything GW lore related. And yeah, without reservation or hesitation.

Slightly off topic, but:

They could easily write a novel following the personal story from start to finish, and print you a copy on demand (or sell you the e-book) with your face on the cover, and name/gender/first chapters depending on your own character creation choices.

It’s 2014. ANet… you’d make a killing. I’d buy three!

Better yet:

If it featured a “best buddy” based on a different player character (many people I know play GW2 personal stories together with their significant other, BFF, guildie etc.) I’D BUY LIKE TEN just for myself, plus they would make excellent birthday gifts.

Sell them in the gem store. 800 gems, normal price for a book, there goes all my gaming money for the year.

They should have the devs read it.

This is a terribly cruel suggestion. I’m not a fan of the current writing team, but even I would not subject them to the crushing humiliation of presenting this story to a reputable publishing house.

There’s no way the written story of the LS would be good enough without changing it completely. As it is now it’s boring and tasteless for a book.
