heya,

i really like the living story as it is now. Free content updates, new items, also fine with how it is done (missions, dungeons, scavenger hunt…), but there is something that i find confusing and not so well done.

since living story started, you came up with new factions all the time. First the consortium, then the molten alliance, the sky pirates and now the zephirists(?).

There are so many existing factions and also NPCs in this game. I would like to see the existing conflicts and stories envolve instead of having to deal with new enemies (and friends) all the time.
Living story should be about the story of the world. There actually is one. There is the nightmare court, the inquest, the centaurs, the white mantle, the flame legion, the separatists and many minor forces and factions (skritt, quaggan, ogres, grawl…).

What i would like to see is that those conflicts and factions are brougth into living story. Some ideas

- the white mantle is operating again in DR and Kryta. Starts with “find hidden White mantle Leaders, bash them and get some intel.” and ends with “go into the White mantle dungeon and slay the last remaining Mursaat Endboss”

- The quaggan tribes are meeting in southsun cove to celebrate (insert OOooobvious Name here) festival. There are minigames, events and stuff. Also they want foooOooood from all over tyria, so bring them ingredients and get some rewards.

see, i like new factions, but what is wrong with the existing ones? understand the consortium, but the molten alliance and also the sky pirates came out of nowhere. Also did Eirs Son Braham.

What comes next? Logan Thackerays Mother battles the Cult of red Apples?

But, but, but… the Flame Legion , The Inquest, the Dredge, the Lionguard all appeared in the Living Story… and the Consortium has been “around” almost since gw2 launch…

I don’t think you can argue that new factions don’t belong in the living story, based on that they’re new. That’s what living story means: things change! Alliances form, new players appear on the field. For instance, the Molten Alliance did not come out of nowhere. They are literally the Flame Legion and Dredge buddying up.

I would also like to see some specific “old” stuff mixed into future living story chapters (steam creatures and white mantle being on my wish list) but I think that it is a good mix so far.

fine with the consortium. Also i have to admit that the inquest is involved in this Aetherblade stuff, and the dredge/flamelegion was in the Molten alliance. But it was not really obvious. What i see is the following scenario

Dev1: i have an awesome idea! I have some concepts for Molten Alliance. They are some sort of Dredge/Flamelegion mutants.
Dev2: awesome! now lets create some lore around this.

Dev1: i have another wonderful idea. Pirates on Airships! In Steampunk outfits!
Dev2: Brilliant! Again, lets create some lore about this. I have actually some scripts for CSI LionsArch around here, lets just combine it.

Dev1: Materials Market is crashing. We should give the players an opportunity to throw away all the mats so the prices will go up again!
Dev2: Hmh, fine. Lets just create a giant Marketplace. Airships again!

well…………..

To be honest most of the new factions do tie into already established factions or older lore, including from what Ive seen, the Zephyrites.

They are currently structuring a story which is still building. We have been given hints on deeper currents as the story has progressed and some of them touch on the story of several of those factions the OP mentioned having their stories moving forward.

For example, we know that the Flame Legion arent out for good even though their old leader is down. Further they dont seem too concerned about the Dragons though we dont know why. We do know a third party was involved in their allaince with the dredge but dont know who.

The Aetherblades were outfitted by the Inquest who almost certianly had other interests at play. Its likely they were a front but who for exactly is hard to say.

We also get a slight touching on the political intrigue in DR through Marjory and Kasmeer’s stories. They will almost certianly play a major role in that story playing out later.

There is progressing story here but alot of it is still playing out. I suspect as the LW story progresses you will see plots start to tie together and a bigger picture start becoming clearer. Im already getting that feeling. Storytelling like this takes time and buildup.

Yep. And that’s the stuff that makes me happy…
