Q:

Guild Wars2: Depths of Abyss

DEEP SEA DRAGON LIVING WORLD:
what if, the water dragon starts with a HUGE tsunami that covers a lot of coastal cities under water! that would surely be a cool way to start an expansion and lay grounds for a story!
NEW COASTAL CITIES/ UNDER-WATER CITIES:
Lions arch under water, how cool it would look! people in those cities have to adjust life since no one wants to abandon Lion arch and it would look so cool under water! all you can see is the light house barely peeking up, and we finally get to use the Airport that lion arch has! think water world! (or put Lion arch into a bubble area so you can still do jumping puzzles, think BIOSHOCK). also would love to see Vigil Head quarter area turned into a coastal area, and gandaran fields under water, Also love to see some flat areas that look liek they are completely covered in water, but are only so with just two feet of water, would look visually cool! Lion arch doesn’t have to be destroyed, just flooded :P

MASTERIES/COMBAT/ WVW/PVP:
We need an under water expansion, with masteries that make under water combat more fluid! Maybe under water WvW with water current or water surges, you can use to travel huge armies like flock or shoals of fish! like frost gorge sound has a huge under water area, and huge sky area to glide as well. what if new under water map were completely submerged, think the area of under water frost gorge sound water, land and air all under water!!!!!

EXPANDING ON OLD MASTERIES:
you can add Under water MOUNTS! and make a new form of under WATER GLIDING that uses water currents or water jetpacks!

BOSSES/RACES: largos??
New under water bosses, whats scarier than karkas? corupted Cthulu creatures covered in barnacles, great chance to bring love-craftian nerds together! and a chance to make maps that are bigger than both the Path of fire and Heart of thorns combined, as you go deeper light fades “fear not this night” song would fit perfect for a boss, as we trek through the abyss! crossing the Abyss would require a great team effort to venture deeper into the oblivion!

PVP MAP:
guard and safely move GIANT fortified sea creatures through ruins or the reef while stoping at caves/camps/ stops to gain points! (think over watch?)
or fight to summon GIANT sea creatures on both sides to fight the other team! like massive creatures-HUGE!
or

NEW PROFESIONS/WEAPONS: (adding “knock up” to the game (think chronomancers gravity thing)

THE HUNTER:
profession for my ranger with a rifle/shotgun! marking targets that pets can shadow step and rifle does bleed? or maybe AOE shotgun?

THE GUNSLINGER:
Dual pistol on Mesmer as a GUNSLINGER profession, mobility, lots of PEW PEW PEW (think Lucian from League of legends?)

THE DOCTOR:
Scepter on my Engineer (think DOCTOR-who’
s screw driver), making holographic clones or using deception on targets, lots of utility?

THE MONK:
Dual focus on Guardian, MONK with dps and physical skills like thief with daredevil has. Aso every third hit does AOE damage behind the target (think Vi from legue of legends, but has Super-speed)

The DREAM-WALKER/ THE DJINN/rift walker:
Revenant with lots of DPS ! think skinny great sword with ability to telport enemies to you? isntead of teleporting enemies with you with sword dual hand. also ability to SLASH and move through enemies, like how daredevil does. also ability to teleport to marked targets! or go inside them making your self-invulnerable and then coming out after doing slow damage when you are inside of them (also the enemies can hear the legend you are channeling while you do this)

PROTECTOR:
Elementalist with a mace. Slow hitting but tanky! lots of protection buffs and blocks! quick hard hitting AOE damage! symbols?

The SHADOWMANCER
Necromancer with dps long-bow and movement and able to summon skeletons/ or shadow creatures for dps?

The SKULL-BREAKER
warrior with Staff, lots of disruption and “KNOCKUP”, heavy cc?

The BRUISER:
Thief, with BRUISER profession A shield or dual wield Sword, think Dante from devil may cry! Has cool knee slide or knee glide ability? Elite lets him Displace to a wall where he charges up his glutes and thighs then land area can be targeted to do Small AOE but hard hiting “KNOCKUP”-cc damage!

GW2 developers and artist have created some of the coolest things, would love to see their interpretation of it! I don’t want any credit, this post is to help inspire brain storming! I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH, love to hear back ideas of brain storming from both players… and possibly developers maybe >_<’ ?

There are some good ideas in here, but frankly you had me at turning Engineers into Doctor Who.

Best idea on this forum…ever!

Agree. [Stands up and takes hat off in salutation]

The new elite specs are all fine, but they don’t fit with the main theme of the expansion. Honestly, if you’re going to have an underwater expansion, there should be new underwater weapons, and there’s only 3 underwater weapons.

As for underwater itself, old Lion’s Arch is already underwater, and there’s even a PoI at the old Lion Arch statues. And the last thing we need is Lion’s Arch destroyed AGAIN. Hopefully, we will be getting an underwater expansion at some point, but only after the underwater combat itself gets some love.

Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be seeing any new playable races, but we can certainly get villages and cities full of largos as our allies to deal with the dragon and its minions. We might even see some quaggan, the other amphibious race we know of. And somehow, skritt are STILL there, robbing shinies and generally causing trouble.

Also, I see we have a MadLibs game to name the next expansion: Noun of Noun.

That was the history premise for GW2, so bad idea to repeat it.

I want the next expansion to be in Cantha, too, and I hope we will get ghost stories and ancient mysteries, a Shiro update, etc. I want tengu and the emperor and everything that made Cantha great in GW1.

A lot of awesome ideas in there, I love it!

Great ideas for future elite specs, particularly engi, mesmer and guardian.

And yeah an underwater overhaul would be great (starting by making all the current disfunctional skills/traits/legends have some use underwater).

Largos ARe so Easy to make into a playable race! and we don’t have to drown Lion arch, we can splore how Cantah has drowned and changed over the years!

Personally, rather than the DSD being the enemy, I would love for Cantha itself to be the enemy.
An empress that has further imperialized the nation. Conquered alchemy and industry.
What if she became so powerful she actually beat the DSD and now wants to expand her rule to the rest of the world. A massive fleet of a thousand sails, 300 airships, shoguns with industrialized weapons. A broken DSD whose minions have turnt to the empress.
With that magic she may even seek Weh No Su. Worse yet, what if she goes so out of control, messing with magic, that she may bring about the same cataclysm that made the humans and their gods flee their old world.

I’d like to see this:

  • Story forcused on the reveal and defeat of the Deep Sea Dragon leading us to a free Sea Road to Cantha where a Living World Season will continue then
  • Largos getting redesigned and becoming playable as they will become part also of our Underwater Mastery Teachers with some kind of Atlantis like Underwater Town that can also rise up above the water if needed with Town Events that occur in its own Meta based on it if the Town is currently under water, or above water.
  • Adding Underwater Masteries to improve the Mobility under water (no mounts)

- Streamliner (Basically becoming able to use water streams to your favor to reach places that you could before
- Apnoe Diving (To become able to dive deeper than before, without getting damage/drowning from too much water pressure) for some limited time
- Swimming Fins (basicaly making you able to swim and dive faster and allowing you improved dodges that increase its duration, range and grant effects)
- Improval of Drowning Skills

  • Rework and Rebalance of all Underwater Skills, adding more Weapons to Underwater Combat (Sword, Dagger, Axe, Mace, Scepter, Focus, Shield) and added own Underwater Traits for each Class.
Merge of Staff with Trident, Merge of Rifle with Harpoon Gun to get rid of these two obsolete Weapon Types, make Spears useable on land as well as Polearms
Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Part 2 E-Specs:

- Ranger > SCOUT
Improved Pet gameplay allowing to have up to 3 Pets out.
You can switch to play as your Pets as well. One of the 3 Pets will ALWAYS be unplayable, its an Eagle high in the sky you can send out for scouting to change to its EAGLE VIEW to see your place from above. Underwater its a Dolphin.
In Combat you have always 2 Pets at your side ate the same time.
Scouts use Crossbows which shoots armor ignoring bolts, which is compared to the SB or LB a more power based CC and support orientated weapon.
Scouts allow Ranger Players to use Light Armor as well, making their Skills receive a Bonus to Recharge Times for the Reduced Defense.

- Warrior > ASCETIC
The kind of Warrior Monk which wields Staffs. It can wield Light Armor which improves your Warrior Skills with quicker recharges, therefore that you have lesser defense.
Adrenaline gets turned into Chi, allowing the Ascetic to perform Chi Skills that are for temporal improved defense (Iron Skin, Iron Will) or to perfrom Chi based ranged skills Can change at full Chi into Juggernaut Mode, where all of its attacks turn into Chi enhanced mighty punches and kicks that send foes flying and turn punched and kicked foes into projectiles.

- Necromancer > OCCULTIST
Occultists are sword wielding Demonmasters and Ritualists, with the ability to transform them self with the help of Sacrifice Rituals of Minions into Half Demons.
So basically they summon demon minions instead of undeads (Fleshreavers, Margonites, Gargoyles ect.), sacrifice them and turn themself with their power income into Half Demons to gain that way access to their special Demonic Shroud.
Occultists can wield Medium Armor.

- Guardian > KNIGHT
Knights are polearm wielding frontliners. They are skilled in detecting traps and removing them, making them a clear hard counter to Dragon Hunters and other Trap based class builds. They have on land an unique ability to use Mounts for mounted combat as well.
Knights can wield Medium Armor.

- Engineer > TECHNOMANCER
Technomancers are focused on Support and Healing while not being in Exo Suit/Cyborg Mode, wielding Scepters and use Nanotechnology for these skills with Replicators being their gameplay mechanic, a self regenerating kind of Golem based on nanotechnology with that the Technomancer can merge to go into Exo Suit/Cyborg Mode for turning into a more aggressive combat orientated paramedic that uses nanotechnology to degenerate their foes and weaken them while being in close combat with a Scepter that turns and grows in this mode more into like a Melee Sword-Staff like Darth Maul like Combat.
Technomancers can use Heavy Armor.

- Elementalist > SUMMONER
Summoners wield Chakrams and are Masters of the Elements that can summon a wide array of new elemental beasts and by attuning and merging their summoned Elemental Beasts to them to become self Elemental Spirits (Djinns).
They control their summons and as player you can switch over to your Summons to play them if you want while the A.I. takes over your Character.
They feel like summoning an Esper in a FF game which disappear first again, if the Summoner itself dies.
Summonrs can use Medium Armor.

- Thief > ROGUE
Rogues are longbow wielders, specialized in Stealing, so their stealings are significantly better than the core thief ones.
They can steal more often and they are focused more on Shadow Stepping for sustained long range combat that weakens foes by Boon Stealing alot and disarming foes in close combat weakening this way the Attributes of foes as a new form of CC that lingers a while with its attribute reduction effect.
Rogues are causing confusion and fear on the battlefields, they taunt their foes.
They can turn Shadow Steps into Shadow Runs to extend their durations.
Rogues are skilled also in Trap Control, allowing them to see and remove traps and use them even against their owners by flipping them over to become your traps instead.
Rogues can use Light Armor.

- Mesmer > BARD
The Bard is a Shortbow wielding Specialization of the Mesmer that uses Rhythm and Melodies as form of Inspiration Magic to support and harm at the same time foes as well as allies on the battle field. They use Instruments like “Kits” (Flute, Drums, Triangle, Violin, Harp) that exchange their Combat Skills with various different Songs, Echoes, Chants and the like that when played work similar like the divine Siren Melodies from Sirens Landing affecting everyone in range of these skills. Echoes allow the Bard to repeat previous effects/skills as practically Pulses…use for example a Mantra Skill, followed by an Echo Skill and the Mantra Skill will get repeated per Pulse, so that you can increase/refresh this way your number of Mantra Casts.
Bards can wear Medium Armor but get slightly longer Recharge Times for the increased Defense.

Revenant > VANGUARD (GwenThackeray)
Focus wielding Vanguards are the Legendary Stance about Gwen, the biggest GW1 lore homage ANet could possibly do with this class! using “Rosethorn” as Focus.
Vanguards can wear Light Armor.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Best idea so far.
An enslaved elder dragon, feeding its power to an ambitious, merciless mortal. The worst of both worlds. Just great.
