The game is catered towards every player having a chance to acquire anything in-game. And keep in mind not everyone in GW2 has played GW1 and vice versa. It’s just the developer design that everyone can earn anything that anyone else has acquired.

No, I am not worried about Guild Wars one items being common in Guild Wars two, they are completely separate games and people should start treating them as such.
GW1 and GW2 are two separate games. You can always log back into GW1 and enjoy the extreme rarity of your Mini Panda there.

I’d rather have them come up with new ’’sacred’’ items, and definitely not as rare as the exclusive miniatures were. I like rare, hard to obtain items. But putting them behind some exclusivity that excludes players is a bad mechanic.

i have no problem with gw1 expensive/rare skins being not rare/not worth much in gw2
but i want at least some other/new skins in gw2 that are rare…
there quite some cool gw2 GEMSTORE skins…. but ZEEEEROOOOO prestige cause just a gemstoreitem…
why can’t we have those skins as rewards for special tasks (tasks that are permanent content!)
then everyone can get it – except for players who are too bad/aren’t willing to try hard enough but i am convinced that it is just fair that there are some rewards that you can only get if you are good enough – else hardcore players have just close to nothing to aim for what they can show as a prestige item
those items would REALLY have prestige because you actually have to be good on yourown to get them and not just be able to farm gold or farm tokens with easy tasks so you can get those skins even as a noob if you just farm easy things long enough….
in gw2 there is only 1 set of skins with some prestige at the moment:
fractal skins
and legendaries to some extend … but since you can buy legendaries they lost most of their prestige too…
we need more accountbound skins that can’t be bought and that can only be aquired by doing a certain task/dungeon
but rather not so random RNG like worm ascended armorskins
everyone can get carried through these events and just be lucky then…
has to be for example like this:
a dungeon with good chances of dropping one of those skins if you do that dungeon (so you know you can really get the skin there)
but the dungeon takes some time and isn’t easy…
it should have different boss mechanics so it can’t be done with the standard full zerk stacking team
Boss mechanics like:
- 80% immune to direct dmg but no reduction for condi dmg
- 80% dmg reduction when standing in front of the boss so players have to spread to get behind the boss and only the 1 player with aggro has the reduction then
—> a reason for ranged weapon and against stacking
- the Boss doenst go closer than 400 units to players so he cant actually be pulled into a corner by line of sight tactic or he walks out again if pulled in by CC skills
- the Boss walks way 600 untis from the players as soon as he has more than 2 players in 300 unit range —> incentive to have more than just melee classes
- many more possible mechanics which also involve the use of special areas
(i stole some of those ideas from another players post but dont remember the name – thanks to whoever it was)
i know standard full zerker melee group can be fun and works super effective
but it gets boring…. very boring
i dont even need any changes to other dungeons
(cause i dont want to make players who like that content upset and sometimes playing those ways can still be fun)
but pleeeease give us at least new places then which are hard elite areas too but where you just cant use those stacking full zerk tactics!
then the players who want only the easy peasy content and do it with their zerker rmeta groups but players who want CHALLENGE & PRESTIGE REWARD
can get what they want in those real elite areas
(those areas should have some accountbound skin rewards/ unique tonics/ etc)
Fractals are the closest thing to this atm and already something i really appreciate
and one of the few areas in the game that already has some better boss mechanics
but ideas for boss mechanics like the ones listed above could help making awesome challenges for some new elite areas!!

for all accountbound rewards:
worst thing anet can do is that the skins can drop twice for you while that has no use for you then…. thats totally taunting players…
it’s good that the fractal skins are accountbound – but then make it possible to always chose which skin you get if a skin drops for you
because i know of people who got like 4 fractal warhorn skins 3 torch skins etc. etc….
but not a single sword and shortbow skins while those last 2 where the only ones that they really wanted…
thats just a very stupid reward system
which is annoying for good players who have beaten the content multiple times and who would have deserved to get a skin of their choice instead of a weaponskin that they 1) dont want to use 2) already have anyway
