No Lions in Tyria, yet lion themed city/armor
Lions exists (or at least existed) in Elona back in the days. Which was also the time when the original Lion’s Arch was built.

There are lions statues in London….but there aren’t lions running around there either. As previous poster said, there were some in Elona….and likely there still is. Can’t a city be inspired by an animal? And who is to say the crafters never saw paintings of lions from travelling merchants etc?
There are lion statues in London because there are lions running around in Africa. I said that there arent any in Tyria (the world) but are oddly represented in a city. Your London statement doesn’t hold any water.
Now if there were some running around in Elona, then that definitely makes the difference.
There are cultures on Earth with festivals and architecture based on Angels, Dragons, Gargoyles, and other creatures that haven’t been seen. There are sports teams and mascots based on ancient creatures like Mammoths and Raptors and other prehistoric creatures. How do they know what to draw?
So you’re saying that lions are mythical creatures in Tyria?

No, he is refuting your point that if they don’t exist they can’t be sculptured or painted, since quite clearly this does exist in the real world.

There were/are. Lions could be found in Kourna and Vabbi in the Nightfall campaign, and could be tamed as pets by rangers in GW1.

I really wish people would look up these things instead of wasting front page space with such minor (and incorrect) complaints
This was already a joke back in early days prophecies. War in Kryta added a few groups of roaming lions.

Haven’t read all the comments so i don’t know if its been said or not but,
I read somewhere that Lion’s Arch was originally an Elonian settlement?
Even if that’s not the case, lions were a common animal in Elona and Kryta/Elona had ships running between the two quite frequently.
Protect him at all costs.
Not sure if I’m making this up but I’m sure the lion guards who were the official guards of the monarch in GW1 were an Elonian based guard, which does have Lions so maybe thats linked.
you can buy lions arch gear in lions arch….
