I bought GW2 when it was in beta and only played about 1-2 weeks after release before quitting. I got back into it 2 weeks ago and mostly enjoy PvP. I mostly do PvE just to see it occasionally and for transmogs. I’m done with several transmogs but there’s one piece I want for my Necro which are the Carapace pants.

I looked up GW2 wiki and it seems very unclear to me as what I’m supposed to do to get the box. I went to the Silverwastes. I killed the big purple flower boss twice (it seems to be the same event that keeps repeating itself). I went to clear the bandits to open the Skritt tunnels twice. I’m supposed to talk to 3 NPCs inside Camp Resolve but I could only find the Seraph Master (which also doesn’t tell me much). I went to the Far North Silverwastes with the tunnel and all I could find were some mobs. I just can’t figure out how to trigger the event or where to go.

Is it complicated? Can I do it solo or do I need a large group for it? Can I stick around the zone and it’ll eventually loop over this quest chain or is it always going to be the big purple flower quest chain that loops over and over again?

You can acquire the leggings in a number of different ways:

A) Complete “Seeds of Truth”, the 7th episode of Season 2 and you are given one box of Carapace leggings (you can repeat this on numerous characters I believe). The episode can be completed solo, although it will be quicker with a group.

B) You can purchase a carapace leggings box from Camp Resolve in the North-Eastern part of it (near the entrance portal to Brisban Wildlands) there is a vendor that will trade 1,000 Bandit Crests and 1 gold to give you a carapace box in return.

There might be other ways, but that was all I could find for now, but I am quite confident the purple flower only gives Carapace Coat boxes, so don’t worry about that if you are only after leggings.

Thanks for the help. I’ll see if I can find the vendor (although i have a bit less than 500 crests ATM) but I thought I read that you need to complete the Seeds of Truth first. As for the Seeds of Truth, that’s what I don’t quite understand how to do. Am I supposed to do parts 1-6 first? I’m just pretty lost with that.

I don’t believe you need to play through all of the previous episodes in order to play Episode 7 (I can’t test this myself as I completed them all as they arrived), so give it a shot in your story journal and see if you can activate Seeds of Truth.

If you are able, a green icon should direct you on the map on where to go, and after a few instances and story cutscenes (roughly taking 1-3 hours depending on your play style) the episode should be completed.

Of course, if you are into the story and haven’t already played through Season 2, I recommend you start from episode 1 if you like stories and don’t want spoilers.

Ah ok, I didn’t even know that it was in the personal quests. It’s locked though and every parts has to be bought for 200 gems or am I missing something? I got the chest box, gloves box in the Silverwastes and once got the gloves box out of a PvP track (not sure how, probably low random chances in a Maguuma pvp track). So the pants are the only ones where I need to buy a chapter to unlock? If it’s all I care for, I could buy only chapter 7 alone? I can see all the items to buy except for the pants.

Ah, I presume you weren’t active from August 2014 to January 2015 – players that logged on whilst a Season 2 episode was freshly released during that period were given access to that episode for free forever.

In that instance, if you want a guaranteed leggings box then you might want to consider purchasing Episode 7 with gems (which you can transfer from in-game gold if you have about 50 gold – though, I would wait until the Anniversary sales are over as they have spiked the conversion significantly) and then you can play through it as often as you like and get a leggings box for each of you level 80 characters.

Or if you don’t want to buy anything, you can do the other method by purchasing from the vendor using Bandit crests, although that can take quite a bit of playing around in the Silverwastes to reach 1,000 crests.

Tag as many events as you can to get the maximum amount of crests, and try to stay on the same map after defeating the purple flower, as you will get a bonus to Bandit Crest acquisition.

Ok, thanks for the answers. The vendor indeed does not sell that one (he sells every other) until I have completed that part it seems. I think that I prefer the Trickster transmog for pants/chest for the transmog I want to do if ever I have to buy gems in this case.

You should be able to do that.

Open up your story journal and click on Episode 7; you should be able to purchase it individually from there for 200 – 250 gems (I can’t quite remember).

Playing through Episode 7 (specifically, the instance “No Refuge”) will reward you with one leggings box with which you can choose which leggings you want.

I think you can repeat this episode on a different character that hasn’t yet completed it to earn another of these boxes, but I haven’t played through it in a while so I might be wrong on that part.

Ok I will try that, I just hope it does let me do it or else I’ll just be throwing my only 50 gold, heh.

Edit: Can anyone confirm that I can purchase episode 7 without buying ep 1-6, season 2.
I’m still new so I don’t have much gold that’s why I’m making sure.
