Well, WTF else do you expect an invading army to be met with?

In other news, the Pope was recently seen wearing a funny hat.

ROFL! I was thinking the exact same thing.

“Our forces were met with overwhelming force, and betrayal”

“Our forces were met with destruction, and betrayal.”

“Our forces were met with the stay puffed marshmallow man, and his gooey betrayal.”

So many other options!

Wondered about that myself.

When I heard it, I immediately thought, oh oops — the writers at first hadn’t agreed to the phrasing, so one of them wrote:

Our forces were meant with violence †

† Remember to change this during next rewrite session; this is just a placeholder until we come up with something epic.

And then, of course, someone spilled coffee on the draft and people forgot to update the phrasing later.

We are locking this thread as it seems to have run its course.
