Q:

I have just noticed on the Sky Pirates page, that the scavenger hunt portion of this Living Story will require use of the new book, Sea of Sorrows. I am already a big fan of the books and think this is a nice addition.

“In this new permanent content, retrace the steps of Cobiah Marriner. Twelve plaques have been set up to honor the history of the city and its founder. You can find clues to the plaques’ locations in Sea of Sorrows. Complete the scavenger hunt to earn five skill points.”

However, as far as I can see, the book is only being released along with this chapter in America. The EU date appears to be Aug 1st on some websites, but I can’t see an official date anywhere (these websites have said Aug 1st 2013 for the best part of the last year).

While this is not really a problem as the scavenger hunt will be permanent, it really bugs me that America are getting access to this ahead of everyone else. We will either have to wait to do this scavenger hunt, or rely on the wiki (something I would prefer to avoid).

Is there any confirmation on the EU release date for this book, yet? Please forgive me if I am just being blind or have misunderstood this information.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I have checked multiple sections of the forum for a thread on this topic and failed to see any (even using the search tool).

Wait, what? Where does it, in any way or form, say that you need the book to complete the scavenger hunt?

Possibly the clues, but then again those clues will most likely be up on the wiki about 3 hours or something after the release of the patch, and it would most likely also be very possible to find them without the clues whatsoever (I have already found 2 I believe)

Krall Bloodsword – Mesmer
Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square

I doubt you’ll need the book. The plaques in honor to Cobiah Mariner are in game already and I’ve found a good portion of them (without explicitly looking) in Lion’s Arch. Not sure if all 12 of them are, but it would make sense, so I think those plagues span over a very small area, which should easily make it possible to locate them all if you haven’t read the book.

EDIT: just went on a very superficial stroll through LA and found 6 of those plaques. So chances are the others are there as well.

I like this.

I will probably do the treasure hunt using the wiki if I’m impatient, but I if I can get my hands on the book, that would be even more fun.

You don’t need the book, but you can spoil it by reading the plaques.

At least you guys don’t have it as bad as here in Spain where the editorial publishing GWs books is still in the process (or so the say) to publish the second one…

I’m glad the achievement is permanent and you don’t need to read it in a hurry to finish it without spoiling yourself.

I’m really thinking about getting an english copy of this one as it looks promising.

You could always pick up a digital US-edition for the kindle, or from another e-book store.

I prefer my books on paper :S

Anyway it’s very probable that I will end up ordering an english copy. My birthday is comming soon so this could be cool :P

I’m happy that I don’t need to rush the plaques achievement so I can take time reading the book.
