If Evon won, we would have gotten the Fall of Abaddon fractal. How would Anet have delivered this:

In the Thaumanova reactor fractal, we discovered that Scarlet and her Inquest cohorts discovered a form of ley lines, magical energy crisscrossing the world that seemed tied to the research being done in the reactor. But what do these ley lines mean?

Would they have retconned the known events of the Fall of Abaddon and modified it to include Scarlet and asuras? (* cringe *)
How else would we have gotten this information?

Or am I right to assume that the election result was obviously predetermined by Anet and the whole thing was just a ruse to make us believe that they cared about what the players wanted?

You can assume whatever you want. But if it was Fall of Abaddon then we likely would have seen something different relating to the story where Scarlet wasn’t involved.

There was also strong evidence reported on CNN that Scarlet killed the dog in Family Guy.

Why do people keep assuming this?
It does MAKE SENSE that Scarlet is at the Reactor, it is not something forced in just to for the sake of it.
We knew LONG BEFORE the fractal that Scarlet had worked with the Inquest.

See, everyone is so sure Scarlet is trying to wake up a Dragon. But given that our other option was about Abbadon, I think Scarlet is going to wake up the only other being who might know more about magic than she does. Margonites incoming.

The forums were full of Evon supporters and it seemed like most the players ingame were. Yet Kiel won and not by much. It seemed like they tried their best to show it was a close race just for Kiel to tip it in the end. Didn’t believe it then, still don’t now – one huge ruse.

Being that we have heard that scarlet has researched both magical ley lines and the power of the gods once had, and the fact no writer wants to write two stories and only to use one. It’s highly likely scarlet would have been in the new fractal no matter who won.

Also being how poorly the fractal was done(They had the world turning inside itself and we got a room with a few portals.) I believe we dodged a bullet that they didn’t do the fall of abbadon.

No I think they would of just found a way to connect to that instead, or they would of just connected it to something outside of the fractal.

Well it’s a fractal, so it’s just an echo of what actually happened, it’s not time travel so it’s entirely possible that Scarlet could still invade that fractal with her Inquest buddies and do something, depending on the “rules” for fractal technology they could attempt to use the fractal to determine the location of some artefact that Abaddon or the other gods used in that battle they might even be able to use the fractal to redirect the echoes of the gods power to some modern day use.

Basically, we cannot know what they would have done but I feel certain that it too would have included Scarlet somehow.

Yes. I think it’s safe to say that Anet would have put Scarlet as the major factor behind the fall of Abbadon. They LOVE the Scarlet character almost as much as the community hates her. They want to put her in EVERYTHING.

Maybe if we had chosen Evon, the main LW villain would have been Abaddon and not Scarlet?

I think Arenanet always intended Kiel to win, why else give her the waypoint discout? They had to know that’d be more popular than cheaper lock box keys with the bulk of players, and many I talked to at that time didn’t even consider the fractal choice. On top of that for those who like RP they Spelled out EXCEEDINGLY unsubtly that Evon was corrupt and Kiel was in it for the people and was the “right” choice for us to make.
They did it to burry the Abbadon fractal so they could do the easy option (thaumanover is just recycled elements of CoE, and an excuse to shoehorn Scarlet in, AGAIN).
Conspiracy theory? It may be, but to my eye it fits far too may of my observations of Arenanet’s past operating procedure for me to discount it as a high probability.

Honestly, whether the elections were pre-set or not will never be known. There’s nothing they can say, show or do that proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that they had no hand in the results. Either believe them or don’t. We knew this since day 1 of the “vote” though. Doesn’t really matter.

That said, given their reckless disregard for story, lore, consistency, quality, etc… in lieu of shoehorning Scarlet into everything I have very little doubts that had Evon won the election (assuming the whole thing wasn’t rigged of course) then we would have simply found out that Scarlet was behind or somehow related to the Fall of Abbadon as well. Maybe some time machine/time traveling plot of some kind. Hell, I wouldn’t be particularly surprised if they simply went with “because we said so”.

That’s why I’m tempted to believe the “election” wasn’t rigged. Yes, the whole result seems so incredibly convenient for the whole thing… but I’m also perfectly willing to accept that ANet would have just railroaded the story back to Scarlet either ways.
