All I do is die!!!
What kind of enemies are you fighting, how many, and are you soloing group events?

“colesy’s on rampage today. Slaying casuals left, right and centre” – spoj
hello, i used to die all the time as well but after looking up builds online I realized that my trait lines were all over the place, just some tweaks and now i’m running around Orrs solo with no problem.
You should check out this website http://www.gw2db.com/skill-builds
Orr is a really difficult place, I dislike it myself. Normally I only go to clear it when I’m level 80 and have full exotics.
What class are you? The light armoured classes do get kicked around badly at the later stages. I have a Guardian and a Warrior, both are fine in areas of group mobs. My ele…well he just dies. But he looks cool so I dont care
It can be as simple as playing a class not suited to your playstyle.
You have to pick and choose your fights – you can’t solo engage everything in Orr, there are some areas that you are better off running through.
Look up some builds as well, it may or may not help, but it never hurts.
Orr is not a difficult place. If you are properly traited and decently geared you should have no issues, especially since its been thinned out. What class are you and what build are you using?
I’m fighting undead of all kinds. I join in group events if others are around otherwise I bypass them. I’m just inching my way through the zone. My biggest problem is mobs respawning after I engage the next one thus creating a 2 on 1 scenario.
I normally skip combat and just run to everything. I only fight if I need to in order to commune at a skill point.
(s)he is in Straits of Devesation. (S)he is fighting Risen :P
There are a number of factors Vonnix
1. Don’t solo group events
2. Make sure you are geared appropriately for your level
3. Make use of your utility and elite skills effectively
4. Remember to dodge, this game is about avoiding /blocking damage more than mitigating it
5. If Risen are being too much of a pain, check out Frostgorge Sound. It is more similar to other areas of the game with heart quests etc and is 70-80.
Maybe my build is kitten I’m a warrior that uses Rifle at range and when the mob gets close I switch to 2hand sword.
also having full exotics help. I main and Ele and she has all exotic armors + accessories. I run with dual daggers and i have no problem soloing. I think Anet nerfed Orrs from what it was, before i remember i couldn’t even walk around for 20 seconds without a mob pulling or crippling me.
Risen are nothing compared to the OP Krait and Hyleks with their poison
My warrior is stacked toughness and vitality and uses axe/mace or mace/shield. That’s just a set up which suits me and not necs something you should go with, but vit/tough are big factors in staying alive
Maybe my build is kitten I’m a warrior that uses Rifle at range and when the mob gets close I switch to 2hand sword.
Your warrior should mow through these guys. I have a glass cannon warrior, GS/bow and I regularly solo the group event at one of the camps that leads to a temple. You have so many tools like shake it off, taking no damage, stacking might, etc. Maybe its your gear? Is your gear to level? Plus if you get the mobs to stack, you can hit them all with every GS attack.
Right now all I have is all level 80 Yellow gear (rare I think?). I’ve not been 80 to long and haven’t even made it to all the different zones . I’ve got 8 gold to my name Should I try to buy an exotic weapon?
I wouldnt say it was essential. I had yellows and greens first entering Orr. The stat diff isnt huge. It’ll help sure, but I’d echo the sentimenst about how your traits and stats are – they will make more diff.
Playing around with builds is the fun bit – mine changed several times in Orr
You are doing it wrong. I farm Orr all the time with any of my 6 80’s and never have a problem. We need more information to help you.
What build?
What weapons/Armor? Are you in all lvl 30 blues?
What level are you?
Edit: I just saw that you were a warrior and I now know this is a troll thread.

You need to decide what your end game build is going to be, then gear appropriately. I use my warrior for farming, so I have him glass cannon. Every piece of gear is power/prec/crit damage. Go run COF and get your gear that way if your going glass cannon. Otherwise save your money or get someone to craft for you.

What are the stats on that gear? Rare gear isn’t bad if the gear matches your build.
What are your traits and utilities like? Do you have a specific type of armor that you are equipping? (Berserker’s, Soldier’s, Carrion…?)
While much of the content is soloable, I think having a good support group (guild) is incredibly helpful. This can also potentially open up the door for you to also learn things like dungeons, which are a great source of income as well as helping you to learn your class in a challenging group environment too.
Don’t let the level oof the MOBs get a head of your level or armor. All starter zones go to 15, but you do not.
go to other starter zones to catch up with their level cap and get new armor and weapon for sure every 5 level. If you get something better in between more power to you. Once you can match the MOBs at their levevl you should survive, but no promises
In open world, I think rare is enough. Even green is ok, imo. Ofc it depends on your skill but yellow isn’t that bad.
Like cocolu has said, it may be your trait. You can look up and try some. I have some guildies/friends like you said that they always die with their warrior, so it could be warrior just isn’t for you, you can try out guardian which is the toughness class ever lol.
I’m mostly using all berserker gear. And to Ruprect I’m not trolling I suppose I’m just bad. It sounds like most people especially warriors don’t have much trouble so it’s probably just me. I’ve never been in a dungeon group I’m afraid I’ll ruin other folks fun by being bad. I do like doing group events if others are around though.
I’m starting to think that I’m really, really bad at this game. I don’t think I’ve ever died as much in an MMO as this one. I’m right now in the straits of devastation trying to complete the map objectives, and I’m just dieing constantly. I solo exclusively and I guess this type of play style doesn’t work for GW2? I’m pretty much a casual player that just logs on from time to time but It’s gotten to the point I just hate the end game zones big time and pretty much ready to throw in the towel. Is this zone suppose to be group only or what? I’m thinking I’m just really really bad ,which is why I solo anyhow. I don’t want to ruin other peoples fun By sucking at the game.
You don’t suck at the game. I can craft you gear with toughness and vitality but you need the mats since I no longer play I probably don’t have what you need to make it. The problem you will have with that gear is that it will take you longer to kill stuff and elites won’t want to run dungeons with you.
I suggest you join a guild and get them to help you. There are a lot of really nice people that play this game so it shouldn’t be hard to fin help.

My toons have at least 2 sets of gear. You should only use zerker gear when you feel more omfortable with the game.

Watch the first video, ‘GW2 Combat System 101’. It’s short and sweet, easy to follow, and teaches the synergy between damage/control/support skills. Hope you find it useful as I did.

Level 80 yellow gear should be more than enough for entering orr… heck, I was mostly green geared when I entered orr.
IMHO what you should check is the build you’re using (which traits and skills you’re using) and how they sinergize with your gear. For example, if you have a straight damage build (can’t really be more specific, haven’t played warriors at higher levels) and your gear has mostly healing power and condition damage (for example) you will underperform. I’d say read around about warrior builds, look for one that sounds like the way you want to play (support, glass cannon, bunker and so on) and look for the stats you need. Don’t be afraid to trade a yellow with stats that aren’t good for your build with a green that has the stats you need, the difference in stats between a green and a yellow of the same level is less than 10%… but yellow gear is so cheap in the TP that you shouldn’t have to, I think.
Also, don’t neglect your accesories, rings, talismans, breather and the like, you should by now have enough karma to buy level 80 or close versions of those in Orr, and unlike other areas, you don’t need to fill hearts to buy from them.
And one last thing… if you don’t dodge, start dodging… if you do dodge, start dodging better…
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
rare items have 87.87% the stats exotic has. exotics help, but they’re not going to make the difference between hard time and breezy. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item)
In Orr, pick your fights carefullyer.
I’ve solo’ed group events before, but I’m a tank who knows how to dodge and escape, and it was rough going. same goes for champions – possible, but rough even for experienced people.
try not to aggro too many mobs at once.
have a variety of skills, such as: one for stun break, one for increase damage, one for surviving/escaping.
know what enemies you are approaching and change your skills. like don’t use reflecting skills on melee mobs, and DO use reflecting skills on ranged mobs, but keep in mind that not all ranged mobs use projectile ranged… it’s complicated.

If you are being serious -
You have plenty of gold to get into a full set of rare knights gear. Get all knights weapons and armor. GS/Rifle are fine for PvE in Orr. Use a 20/30/0/0/20 traits build, you will kill stuff so fast it wont have a chance to hit you. With this build I can take on multiple mobs at once anywhere in orr. There is no reason to run full GC unless you are planning on doing speed runs, PVT or Knights armor and weapons, I would recommend Knighs because you still kill fast but can take much more of a beating..
I didn’t mean to be a kitten but you came in saying you were the most faceroll class in the game in full rares and were dying in orr, there are so many trolls on the forums its hard to tell sometimes.

Well Vonnix,
If you’re using Swords, I’d probably have suggested Rampager gear (Power/Precision/Condition Damage) instead of Berserker gear (Power/Precision/Critical Damage). Swords are a cool and fun weapon to use but require a bit more finesse than the more plain weapons. You might try just experimenting with other weapons like Axe, Greatsword and Hammer to see how you fare with them.
If you find you’re more comfortable using Swords, what you want is Power and Condition Damage. The condition damage will increase your bleed damage that your auto attacks (both the swords and the rifle) as well as the bleed on your burst skill with sword. Your direct damage will go down but you can simply run away/kite the enemy while they bleed to death.
If you want, you can PM me on the forums if you want a weapon crafted. I tend to collect materials but never use them for anything, I wouldn’t mind making a pair of swords if you need them.
Maybe my build is kitten I’m a warrior that uses Rifle at range and when the mob gets close I switch to 2hand sword.
As a warrior you should not have real problems. I levelled two warriors to 80, and did the Orr map completions (because of the nice rewards). I won’t lie, it is not a cake walk if you solo it. But it is by all means possible. Keep in mind, though, that pve fights in these maps (and later in dungeons) are not meant to be too easy. You have to pull mobs when they are in large groups, you have to dodge frequently and use your skills and traits. Simply mashing on 1 (or 2 with the greatsword) is not enough any more at that level.
I would start with a good warrior build. Visit the warrior sub-forum, you can get a lot of nice builds there. When you have a build with high critical chance (which you should have, warriors are practically made for that), you can use life-steal food which heals you when you make a critical hit. I use mixed berry pie:
“50% Chance to steal life on critical.
+60 Precision
+10 Experience from kills”
It helps a lot in dungeons and is useful in Orr, too.
(And no: I am not selling these on the tp
First off all, my warrior is low level, but having sseen my own low level warrior and other highlevel warrior’s I strongly believe you shouldn’t have as much issues as you have. So I strongly believe you are doing something wrong. As you are saying you are expierenced from other mmo’s so I believe you know how not to overagro
From my experience as an officer I need to have an inside look in your gear and stats. Can you please post a picture of your hero’s window (the first tab showing your equipment and total stats, and the one showing how you distrubuted your traits). Also make sure your skills are showing and not hiden by the window.
I strongly feel you made some serious error’s when getting your character up and running, these screenshot will tell me or others (hopefully) what these error’s are.
You make a screenshot by pressing print screen on your keyboard. The go to your personal documents folder (you’ll find a gw2 map there)
You can use the more posting and formatting option here to attach the screenshots as an attachement (unfortunally only one at a time so make it two posts).
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Risen are nothing compared to the OP Krait and Hyleks with their poison
Get Quick Breathing and grab a warhorn, it’ll turn the poison into Regeneration.
Warrior was my first class. I had tons of problems and I kept dying. I didn’t like using a Sword because it felt like I had to keep moving to really make good use of the bleeding. Then I rolled a Thief. Trying to play my Thief like I had my Warrior quickly turned into a lot of deaths. The one thing that I learned from my Thief is how key movement is in GW2.
Look, 100 Blades is awesome. It’s neat to see your damage go beyond 10,000 points. However, the greatsword shines because of its high mobility. Learn to use Whirlwind Attack and Bladetrail to your advantage.
Also, Berserker armor is not the best option to have if you’re not too confident about your survival. I spent a long time running with full Knight’s armor (toughness/power/precision), eventually getting a full armor set of Soldier’s (Power/Toughness/Vitality). Only after I returned from my Thief did I get my Warrior mostly Berserker pieces.
What class are you? The light armoured classes do get kicked around badly at the later stages. I have a Guardian and a Warrior, both are fine in areas of group mobs. My ele…well he just dies. But he looks cool so I dont care
It can be as simple as playing a class not suited to your playstyle.
I’m a light-armored mesmer and I eat Orrians for breakfast.
Orr is not a difficult place. If you are properly traited and decently geared you should have no issues, especially since its been thinned out. What class are you and what build are you using?
Orr is a difficult place. That’s the point. But it becomes less difficult the more experienced you become. Learning what the mobs do, who you don’t want to see in a swarm (ie, who to target first if you can’t run), what to dodge (and how) – those are all things that come with experience.
We’ve all had our fair share of dying in Orr.
You have plenty of gold to get into a full set of rare knights gear. Get all knights weapons and armor. GS/Rifle are fine for PvE in Orr. I also am a big fan of Knights gear. Mostly i only have berserker weapons, and the rest is Knights or maybe some Valkyrie mixed in
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I have soloed the 3 Orr maps with my warrior, engineer and elementalist. It was the easiest to do with 0/10/0/30/30 dual dagger elementalist, so I wouldn’t say light armored professions are at disadvantage. But if you ask me the d/d eles are bit overpowered at the moment, especially in pvp.
My current warrior setup is rather unusual: glass-cannon dual swords + rifle, hybrid power+precision+crit build, with capability to inflict massive bleeds (despite not wasting much points to condition damage). Playing with two swords and healing signet usually raises questions e.g. the CoF p1 speed run teams doubt if it would work efficiently (they all use greatsword, 4x zerker GS warriors + mesmer), but after seeing me do good damage and die less than the other warriors, they see it can indeed be useful. But where it really shines is soloing pve content. I have seen greatsword warriors die left and right to me, while I keep on going with ease.
Don’t worry about gear too much. You can get full rare set (armor + couple of weapons + jewelry) for about 4-5 gold and rare is almost as good as exotic. I soloed some of the most difficult group events in the game at those Orr maps using less optimal gear. If you plan to do those Orr temple events alone, be ready to fail several times before you succeed. They are meant for groups, but most of them can be soloed.
If you play with GS you are mostly likely glass cannon anycase (unless you go shout heal). You need to time your dodges and you will die if you start to face tank too large mobs alone. I assume you got adrenal health as if greatsword is your main weapon, you are not gonna use adrenaline anycase?
If you are on a EU server, I can show you on Desolation, how you can do the vistas, skill points etc. at Orr.
This never really occurred to me as a possible issue but after reading https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/How-to-turn-with-the-mouse
Make sure you are also using the mouse to turn rather than keyboard.
Build up to exotic gear, and mix in some vitality or toughness. That’ll make your life far more easy. Orr is really the most difficult area of the game.
As for straits, make sure to get a lvl80 exotic underwater weapon.
Delayed content is eventually good. Rushed content is eternally bad. ~ Shigeru Miyamoto
Green gear can work since I have done Orr on Ele, hunter and guard with green. Look to your traits and how you attack.
that place! I can confirm you when I still got green and yellow items I’ve avoid that zone too. (ele, d/d player)
try get some exotic items, and if you still struggle in survival, get some survival trait (more vit, thougness, etc)
