Mesmer Personality Quiz! Exclamation Points!
Out of curiosity, is there any way to know how much longer I put a skill on cooldown when I chill someone? I know it causes a 66% skill duration increase but for example..
Lets say I interrupt someone -putting their skill on kitten cooldown- and then hit them with a 2s Chill… How much longer will it take for the skill to recharge?
I believe it works like this. If you use chill 10 seconds on a person that right after uses a skill. It will have a cool down of 16,6 seconds. However if the chill is cleansed it will go back to the original cool down or close to it.
The chill condition does not alter the cool down in seconds for the player, it simply makes the timer to go slower until it is removed/ends.
So using a 2 second chill on a 1 minute cool down skill, will simply just make it slower to recharge for 2 seconds. It’s a pretty weak condition..
if you hit them with a 2 second chill, it would add 1.32 seconds approximately to the recharge if its not cleansed. Also, it wouldn’t go straight back into the original cooldown if cleansed, it would go back into the normal speed of the cooldown.
To be more clear, lets view the time for the cooldown as units of cooldown. In general 1 unit leaves every 1 second. Chilled will instead make it so that 1 unit passes every 1.66 seconds, so even if they cleansed a 10 second chill after, say, 5 seconds have passed, instead of having 5 units of cooldown gone, they would have a little more than 3 units of cooldown gone.
stupid thing is that the skill information about cooldown still shows the same amount which just ticks down slower…
but thats confusing yourself if you think you have 10 seconds while its 17 in reality….
really stupid
and it is like this since the beginning of the game… -.-
you only really begin to notice the effect if you stack chill beyond 20 seconds (which you can do pretty easily on some ele / necro builds)
the real advantage isn’t the skill cool down of course, its the reduction in movement speed. if not removed or covered with another condition it’s an excellent snare.
Much appreciated guys!
