Hi guys i recently got my guardian to level 80 and it’s the one class I really enjoy however now I have set my sites on making my first legendary item. I have had my eye on juggernaut ever since I saw it but alot of the crafting guides I have read are extremely confusing. I understand that this is a big undertaking and I want to do this myself rather than buying the legendary.

If there is anyone who could explain what needs to be done to craft this legendary without going to crazy on the terms I would be more than appreciative.

Be warned, the process is VERY long and expensive.

I found the wiki list to be the clearest.

I recommend starting with map completion because it’s likely to be the most time consuming part. Be aware that you also need to complete the WvW maps which will take longer than the PvE ones and can’t be done in one go. You might need to keep trying over several weeks as your server changes colour and what they control changes.

But while you’re doing that you can also be saving up any materials, gold, skill points etc. you get for the other parts.

Since you’re going for the Juggernaut specifically it might also be worth making a level 20 character to plant at the end of a jumping puzzle and/or move around several to start gathering Silver Doubloons.

You’ll also need to think about whether you want to buy the precursor from the TP or take your chances throwing rares into the Mystic Forge.

I’d personally start with the 77 mystic clovers as you’ll get many of those tier 6 fine materials in the process. Save your laurels and convert them to the bags that contain the tier 6 fine materials after you have the clovers.

While doing this, you can work on world completion and farming the ~1 million karma. Farming the SW breach/VW while using crests for keys to participate in the chest farming is also great. This gives you access to obsidian shards reducing the need to farm karma and is a great source for the ~339 skill points that you will need. You also make a decent amount of gold doing this as well.

If you resort to buying items off the TP, do so in low increments such as 30. People are much less likely to outbid you compared to if you had placed orders for 250.

Don’t worry about the precursors as there’s a chance their prices will drop further depending on how much effort is required for players to do the collections for them. You could also do the collections as well.

Also keep in mind that new legendary weapons are on the way with the upcoming expansion.

You could go ahead and do map completion now. Also take danikat’s advice about having a level 20-30 character to do fast jumping puzzles for silver doubloons. Otherwise, just start saving up materials (especially t6 mats). Use laurels to get more t6, too.

Other than that, I wouldn’t really try to do anything else until you have the precursor.

Don’t start anything without a precursor. It is the very key compoient that you will get frastrated after complete every compoient left alone the precursor.

I am aware its a long process but its a goal i have set up in mind to keep me busy while i wait for HOT and the weapon is also extremely cool looking. When you said i need the way points did you mean in WVW or Eotm im confused as i spend some time in EOTM with friends but have hardly spent any time in actual wvw.

WvW is the one you need for map completion, not EotM.

They announced about 2 weeks ago that an expansion will be released soon, called Heart of Thorns. With it there will come new legendary weapons and each precursor, for the old legends and for the new, we will be able to acquire by completing a set of given tasks and/or collecting various objects in the game. They did not elaborate further yet, but more news are bound to come soon. If I understood it correctly, there will be a collection for each precursor, just like there are now collections for dungeon skins or beers or bandit weapons, for example (see your Hero pannel, achievements tab, there is a category there for collections – you can see how they look).

In short, there will be a guaranteed way to obtain every precursor without buying it, once per account.

Like SkyFalls said, wait until HoT. For two reason. Maybe they will introduce a new Legendary Greatsword that you will love more than twilight and for a more interesting way to gain your precursor.

But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get ready for the expansion. Gift of Mastery and Gift of fortune will be needed for new or old legendary after the expansion (like 99.9% sure of that). So make your map completion, do your 77 mystic clover, accumulate 200 skills points, around 500 obsidian shard, accumulate your tier 6 and craft your two gift.

You should also keep all your material and don’t craft the gift of twilight just in case that you will prefer the other legendary. If you don’t want to waste gold in crafting profession wait for the expansion, if you are a completion like me or want to craft ascended gear in the future you could level them up while waiting for the expansion. You can also take this time to accumulate a good amount of gold.

By the time the expansion come out, depending on how much you play, you could be ready or not be that far from being ready to craft your legendary.

1. Obtain Precursor.
2. Start making Legendary.

Buy precursor while the price is low. This also acts as a motivator to do it.. equip immediately before your rational mind takes over.

Expect 2-3 months to acquire the ingredients.

Sell the first one, then buy all you need and make the second one that you really want.. heck, we get two gifts of exploration. Why? So you’re not completely broke at the end of the process.
