Emote spam?
Report them for spamming. It’s simple.
I even report players for spamming world events.
PSA: FYI, Oakheart, Boar, Troll, Wasp Queen, etc…they respawn every 10 minutes. They are always up. Stop spamming it, please.
Well I don’t know about the event posts unless it is the same person non-stop for the same event at that time. I see a lot of the time every couple minutes people asking if there are any events, usually more so than someone WP linking an event. Now guild spamming that gets to me. If someone is doing it like every 5 minutes I usually send them a whisper to ask them to slow down. If it continues I consider reporting but usually I just block them or ignore it.
I turned off emotes in the chat, so no matter how much people spam I’ll never get a message saying: X waves.

Are you sure it’s spam? If someone /dances and you get far enough away, then get close to them again, you’ll get another /dance notification. If you mean they’re just /wave’ing constantly, you can remove emotes from your chat window.

If this isn’t spam then I don’t know what is…
He did it on purpose because before he did it he made snarky remarks. I’ll just turn emotes off from chat..

Dont stop spamming them please. In those 10 minutes waiting I do my daily event’s cause kind people are pointing out where they are. That is what map chat is for. If you dont want to read this then turn mapchat of.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Turn off your EMOTES chat. I have never been able to stomach them all the way back through GW1 where at least we had a nice variety of emotes available.
I am a GW2 “photographer”. I often have my toon perform an emote over and over until I capture them in just the right pose. Even your person doing “/sit” over and over might be trying to catch their toon in a position halfway through the sitting-down animation. Or maybe they were trying to center themselves on a chair and had to keep making small adjustments.
Or maybe he was being a jerk.
But it is so simple to just turn off your emote chat. You won’t miss anything new.
Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.

Unless you RP. Most of RP is done in emotes despite the horrid grey text color. Then you need them on, regardless of occasional spam.

I don’t care if this is an old topic. It needs to be addressed and hasn’t been since launch.
I RP. RPers use emotes. Lots of them.
Griefers use emotes. Lots of them.
Blocking someone doesn’t stop emotes.
Griefers don’t like RPers. They will spam. They do spam. They will continue to spam.
I’m using small words so maybe some sort of developer will understand since well thought out and elaborated upon comments seem to fall on deaf ears.
There always has to be something to complain about I guess……
I have quite simple solution I use for this. Have a different chat tab for emotes and if you RP you can also include some chat for that tab so you may view it when you RP. But when you don’t wish to see them you can just put another tab on.
Personally I have following tabs: / All chats / guild & party / whispers / NPC talk and emotes /

I just put on my commander tag and start the event.. If anyone is looking at their map and wanna join, always welcome.. Once event is done, tag goes off..

This does not replace /map communication… unless this was something all commanders did at all times.

Agree, it does not replace it.. But as mentioned in the topic here: those events in Queensdale trigger like crazy, and I also kind of hate it seeing in my map constantly “xxx up! – WP link”.
I normally only use map communication to give pointers to players (talking PvE) or if I encounter a group event I can’t do alone (so not the case for the Queensdale’s).
