Feeling Lost
Crafting is not hard at all!! In fact, it helps you raise your levels a bit. You might consider using a guide to get to 400 craft level (gains you about 7 player levels if I recall correctly)
yes, exploring can be boring..but neccessary for different reasons (not all applicable to all players
). It makes you grow in level easily and fast. All hearts, poi, wp and vista’s provide you with XP. Also, harvesting, cutting and mining along the way not only grants some XP, but also provides you with materials needed for crafting (hey..the circle is round again
)
I also got bored with doing all the hearts etc. so this is what I did when I was levelling my newest Asura -
Starting in Metrica (around level 20 or so) I decided I wanted to go to Wayfarers Foothills as I’d not been there. Instead of just hopping the City portals to Hoelbrak and out, I ran there. Along the way I’d grab waypoints/vistas/skill points as I felt like it. Any event I came along I’d do (sometimes going out of my way if I saw one I wanted to hit).
For me this made exploration a bit more fun, unlocked waypoints and skill points across the world, and boosted my levels. Then at level 30 or so I usually hit a few dungeons, catch up on some story and carry on with higher level maps.
So pick a starting location, then pick a destination that can be reached through level appropriate maps and run there (preferably taking the scenic route). Also as you’re level 34 you can do Ascalonian Catacombs Story mode (the first dungeon). This will give you around 3/4 of a level of XP upon completion.

Yeah don’t do that. That’s bad. I did it once out of boredom (took my level 20 Engi to Dredgehaunt to harvest stuff). Got the stuff. Died a lot and then ran away. Got halfway down the map though :-P

Do you like PvP? You can also level doing sPvP (click the sword icon at the top of your screen) or WvW (in one of the borderlands, following a comander or in EotM, press B for both).
Do you like dungeons? Every explorable dungeon gives you 70% of a level and a minimum of 1 gold (some give 1.5, some 3). This is actually my favorite way to level (and get rich doing so :P) when I get bored of exploring the world. Keep in mind the dungeons have minimum level requirements: the first dungeon is Ascelonian Catacombs and story starts at level 30, explorable starts at level 35.
Just replying to the Crafting part.
Crafting is usually(!) a mechanic people use when they already have one or more Level 80 characters, and are just leveling their sidetoons, as you can effectively level your characters quickly with this to 80.
A website that offers Crafting guides with prices to level can be found at GW2 Crafts.
(I suggest only looking at 1-400, as 400-500 is expensive, and only really viable IMO if you are aiming for Ascended equipment)
Furthermore you can use the Crafting section on GW2 Spidy as means to find Crafting items that net you some profit. Please note that Crafting for money is a daunting task. As it stands right now, Crafting is (usually) a process that just costs you money, and with some luck you might break even.

Just wait when you enter a zone with 25 wp, 8 vistas and 37 poi.
Other’s have said Eotm but I’ll repeat it. Eotm is a mix of pvp and pve it’s fast paced, there’s danger(form the other players), teamwork, good rewards, fast lvls, and no one will care that your not 80 because it’s basically the wvw newbie map.
Welcome back.
If you want to get to 80 so that you can do the story missions at your own pacing, you can try Edge of the Mists.
That’s what most people do when their priority is leveling a character and don’t have Tomes of Knowledge.
Crafting can be tough… on your wallet. Other than that it’s not complicated, especially with the help of a guide.
Welcome back as well, but you need to rethink you aversion to exploring.
Finding the WPs, Vistas and POIs and earning the Skill Points is what the open world PvE part of the game is all about but there are other modes (mentioned above) if clearing zones is just not your cup of tea.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
As a side note, I too recommend exploring Tyria, at least with your first character.
Otherwise, you are really missing out!
You can still skip the hearts if you want. ;-)
