Many players are having difficulties getting all “skills & traits”-hints.

Here’s some general advice:
Most of the hints pop up, if you DON’T do what’s mentioned in the hint.
Sometimes it takes some time (10-15min).
Also don’t forget to actually click on the hint, if it pops up, or you won’t get it.

Examples:
Guardian virtues: Fight WITHOUT using them (10-15min).
Ranger pet charm: Stand besides a pet you haven’t tamed yet and DON’T press F (about 5sec).

Does this work with other hints too?

Do I maybe need to hang around damaged walls and half-built siege in WvW while carrying supply to finish off that hint?

The WvW supplies one is just bugged, I’ve done just about everything one can think of to get it and still nothing. Yes, I stood around unrepaired walls quite a bit with supplies and nothing popped.

It’s just so kitten annoying to always have this present in my achievements summary as one of the achievements that are almost completed.

Yes, it does. All F1-F4 skill hints and a few more work like this.
