Greatswords and swords
Check out this link, mate!

The sword you post looks almost exactly like a two handed sword used by the Templars (the guy even wears Knight Templar tabbard), so I say it’s this one.

sweet, templars one of my favorite knights i know But its called 2 handed sword, but its only 48 inches long thats a 1.2 meters isnt it a longsword then?
And the fighting technique with a 2 handed sword is it the complete same tike a longsword?
I’m going to buy me a book of longsword lessons
I really can’t say about the length, I only know metric system. 1.2 meter sword can be both a longsword or a two handed sword, depending on the weight. And of course the collectible website is by no means an expert source of information.
As for fighting techniques it really depends, as was mentioned above by Snakes, longswords were mostly used with two hands as well, but I think stances etc. vary slightly?
I can’t really help you there, I’m more of a sword and shield/ sword and sword/ axe person myself, plus I work with early medieval, it’s a different set of pants altogether.
ah oke, ty anyway. I’m more a fan of swords bigger then a normal one thats better to use in 2 hands but not to big to be slow .. So i dont like the zweihander. But those weapons are not medieval
Oh, a 1.2 meter long sword would be slow to use anyway, compared to polearms and one handed swords.

I am quite positive that the dream sword of your in GW2 is a slim greatsword.
Most 1h sword in GW2 either look knife shape or evil, i can’t find any 1h sword looks as good as this templar sword imo. The only 1h sword looks good to me is infinity light… forget it already =P

yea infinte light best swordi n the game But i like to use it in 2 hands.. And the greatswords are all so freaking big..

yea i know, but it would still be faster then a greatsword of 1.8 meters
Yep, it would. But it’s really more about mass and balance than weight alone.
well here is a video why i love longswords to

I only have 2 words for you:
Infinite Light.
yea i know infinite light, just a shame that i need to use it with a shield or a warhorn..
Longsworss are use most of the time in 2 hands..
but i think inf light fits the most
You can dual wield swords for condi build. And come 15th you will only need to make 1 Infinite Light and apply the skin to another sword.
Have fun farming the 25o Charged Lodestones/the ~700g you need for them. The sword is shiny shiny, but kitten expensive…

Dual wield =/= operate with both hand, that’s the main issue after all.
Other than infinite light, there are non 1hand sword looks good actually.
Kymswarden / Ebonblade or Cobalt / Aureate Highlander Sword looks much cooler cost-wise
I kinda like Firebringer, too. Or Honor of Humanity, if you’re not a fan of the flaming swords. But Infinite Light wins the spotlight 11 cases out of 10.
But to have a sword that can be both one-handed and 2-handed and you are able to switch… I don’t think that would be possible in this game.
I’m personally waiting till wvw tournament ends so I can grab a 1h sword from it. I like it’s scimitar-ish/chineese sword crossover mix. It’s gonna fit my main nicely, too bad it’s so white!

I like flame or thurder effect, but Firebringer sword is too short for my taste. For a classic sword type design in 1h sword category, only infinite light, AC sword, Aureate Rinblade, Etched Einhander can be classify as long sword, and only infinite light looks good and the price… forget it again.
I want katana style too, too bad it is only in GW so far.

Rinblade is nice and it has a cool oldschool air about it for those who know what it used to be.

I am using Rinblade skin for my 1h sword, but i don’t know what it used to be really, can you enlighten me a bit, dude?

In GW Prophecies, in pre-Searing Ascalon, the Rinblade was an awesome sword you could only obtain from a NPC, was not available as loot and had a bonus to armor vs. Charr. It was one of the best weapons you could get while in pre-Searing. Ah, the days of old… I think I still have mine somewhere.
I didn’t play much in GW1 because i started playing very late, after chinese version , faction and nightfall released, North of the eye almost release… hardly able to find enough players for complete the final missions.
Thanks for the info, cool story dude.
Completely forgot about dying weapons until that page…..sigh.
My favorite Greatswords are Cobalt (almost too flashy an animation) and Aureate Highlander (awesome looking “aged” weapon). Lionguard, Seraph and Krytan are all good, non-massive skins that are not difficult to obtain. I really want Kymswarden but it only comes out of the mystic flusher.

Kymswarden skin can be obtained from high lv personal story.
You can also buy Kymswarden from the TP and it’s very cheap: http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/27325
Also, if you are looking for a smaller, thinner GS, try the Ebon Vanguard GS which you can get for a mere 10k karma: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ebon_Vanguard_Greatsword
I personally love this skin and will use it again as soon as I tire of my Sunrise. All hail the wardrobe!

Seriously? I guess there is a reason to actually finish it then…thanks! I think that’s exactly where several of my characters left off (just after opening up Fort Trinity).
EDIT: Just looked this up and the reward for the personal story is STRONG HERO’S LONGSWORD OF FORCE and the LVL 72 and LVL 80 ones do have the same skin as Kymswarden AND have Zerker stats with a Superior Rune of Force (but are Masterwork stats). They are also soul bound on aquire, but I guess that won’t matter in a few days….it will unlock the skin.
Not sure I want to spend 3-4 gold on a skin (don’t want condition stats), but that is an option….thanks for the link.
