Help me make a profession personality test
What is the point of this? You could just make a level 1 of each profession and go to heart of mist >_>

I completely agree with that! I am, however, not offering a surefire way. I’m merely offering this as flavour, for people who like taking personality tests and people who absolutely do not have a clue of what proffession to start with.

I myself have played every proffession in the game, many of which I have a level 80. I liked the fact that this experience gave me a lot of input on how each class plays, but I’m aware not everyone has time or interest in doing that. Moreover, there are people who actually like taking personality tests (myself included) and who might find this test enlightening or even just fun.
ahhh common guys lets help!! I do agree that is easier to know what kind of professions fits you best by just playing it, but what the heck, I will help Here are my answers below:

Hi guys!
Thank you for the responses so far. I have managed to wrap up a few questions and make them into a working test but I still feel it a little superficial. You are welcome to take the test at [http://tinyurl.com/mtnzxtv] and see how you fare. If you do, please provide some feedback so that I can improve upon the results!
Thanks again!
While I believe the only way to really know which profession will suite you best is to try it, meh I’ll play along

Hi, I did your test and came out as a Warrior. While i’m playing Ranger at the moment, have been debating wether to start a Warrior as an alt. Also noticed no Rangers on your chart.

Did the test
Thank you now I know my main
Well i kinda already knew, i have 3 characters at 80 (Elementalist, Guardian and Thief) but I am/was allways jumping between them because never knew what fits more my personality. Some of you probalbly think this is stupid but I do have a really hard time finding my classes in MMORPG’s and I have done suveral test like this one to “find” the one but none of them more complete and as good as this one, since you could guess in which class you woul be in the previus test I did, I also tried to do with this one and I must tell when I was at half I though this would tell my I would be a Ranger and I ended up with only 1% in that class.
Congratz in your great job, this will definitely help people like me choosing their class
Lol. Got elementalist. My least favorite class.
nice test. it is quiet fun.
Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for taking part in this effort, both by testing out the quiz and posting feedback and preferences here. It’s been a major nudge in the right direction.
First off I wanted to enlighten you about the results page as I’ve seen many people confusing the pie chart at the end. So just to be clear, that chart is not percentages of your result. They’re percentages of everyone’s results. So if you see a lot in Elementalist it actually means a lot of people got an Elementalist as their final result.
Which leads us to the next topic I wanted to talk about, which is balancing. The system I’m using for this test is unbelievably complex and naturally that means balancing might be a bit off. I’m watching the results page rather closely and as far as I’m aware there is a general tendency for either Elementalist or Warrior. I’ve done a bit of counting and the probability for both of these results is a little higher than the others considering you answered all alternatives in all question (if that was possible). Unfortunately ProProfs quiz is a little less on the professional side as I was expecting and I have no way to control the results more accurately (say having them sort it out as percentages rather than sheer number, which would reduce inconsistencies especially with the higher number of possible results per answer).
So bear with me for a while and keep testing and keep posting. If you’re in a guild, please ask your guildmates to take the test, as this method has proved both effective and not overly intrusive.
Also, if you know any powerful quiz maker, I’d be glad to hear about it. I tried Quizzilla and was a little disappointed since they don’t let me choose multiple results per answer. I also tried HelloQuizzy which is amazingly powerful but it just won’t save my quiz for some reason.
Anyway, just one last bit of information, perhaps not a very pleasing one to know, I came to realise this test doesn’t actually deliver as promised for now. The reason many of you might not be getting the appropriate results is that the test still doesn’t account for deterministic counterpoint behaviour. In other words, some people have a very different personality outside and inside the game and, when I ask you about your personal prefferences, many of you might be giving me real-life answers and those aren’t quite compatible with the character or persona you want to adopt in a game on a subconscious level (for example a very shy and reserved person who would like to be more easy-going and feel needed so they play as a Guardian to help the party – They’re prone to take black or grey for a favourite colour so as not to draw attention in real life, and, by selecting that, they’re balancingn themselves a little further towards sneaky professions like ranger and thief).
Rest assured though that I’m taking notes on those complications and are drawing some new questions I want to add as soon as possible. I’m a little more serious on this test than I thought I would be and am considering even paying real money to give your a finer results page for example. I have a couple psychologists helping me on devising questions as well, so you can be sure everything is as academically structured as possible.
All in all thank you again, and keep taking the test and spreading the word and providing me some sweet valuable feedback!

Since some of the questions only have 4 or so answers, I assume you have the score count towards 2 different professions on each answer and taking priority on the Elementalist and Warrior during the final calculation (like for example, if someone scores the same amount of points on both Elementalist and Ranger, the test always picks Elementalist as the result).

That’s an accurate assumption, but it’s actually a little more organic than that. There are multiple profession scores per answer, some of them additive and some subtractive. I can’t disclose exactly what these are on this thread however, since I don’t want to contamine the procedure. People cannot in any way know what any answer leads to, since the purpose is to avoid unwanted guessing.
I have had this doubt as well, however. I’m not sure how the system handles draws, however unlikely they are. I have placed a lot of options to avoid draws, but they’re technically possible. And, if it happens as you say (Ranger x Elementalist), I guess it’s safe to assume one possible outcome is alphabetical, granting me Elementalist first.
That’s also one of the reasons I want to move the quiz to another platform. ProProfs is good, but it’s lacking, and I can’t have that. What’s the point of doing a test if you know it has the slightest possibility it might be jinxed?
I’ll try to find another one. As soon as I get it I’ll post it here! Thank you!
Took the test and got Guardian.
Not really that surprised, because thematically I’m usually drawn to cleric/paladin/priest types. However, I find GW2’s implementation of this archetype to be grueling to play (at least solo leveling), and haven’t gotten one past the 30s (3 attempts thus far). Currently juggling Engineer and Warrior. Have been meaning to give Guardian another go. 4th time’s a charm right?
From your results chart, it seems like you’re guiding everyone to be an elementalist.
I’m not sure what in my answers seemed to scream elementalist at all. They’re one of the classes I’d least want to play.
I got elementalist Ö.
I’m 100% mesmer though :’(

took the test. got Thief. I have a thief, but I just can’t seem to get into the class. I really want to like it tho.
my fav is guardian followed by mesmer. Hmm.. can I like black, sharks and dragon and still enjoy a guardian? or am I some kind of outlier?
The test Is – in my opinion – more, huuumm, esoteric than based on facts or something^^
I got ele, but hate ele and love and enjoy my ranger. Why would I be more ele than ranger, just because I choose red over green?
It’s a funny test anyway^^
I did the test and it’s fun (i fact i had to do another test to know whitch Harry Potter house I was lol )
And the result is nearly good, it says I should take a Guardian
I’m playing Warrior for a year now, with 3800 toughness so close to the gardian,
but I still prefer warrior :-)

There are a lot of people who prefer something but have tastes that go away from the classical portrait that profession may be. For example:
We may know that Warriors are always being the top tier damage class, the strong one, the ferocius one, full attack – less defense class. So they usually match it with the color Red, or warm colors, with aggressive kind of animals such as predators, or with tanks or motorbikes or sport cars. It’s a stereotype, nothing more, nothing less.
But indeed a lot of people think “out of the box” or have very particular tastes that apparently don’t match with each one, but that person can somehow organize together.
It’ s an awesome thing that shows us how different we are, though we may have traits in common.
