So I was calculating, and I figured it would cost me around 2000 gold to craft sunrise. How long do you think it would take to farm 2000 gold.
I was thinking like 5 months playing about 4 hours a day.
Thanks

Well, in all seriousness, according to :

http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem

1 gold will set you back 20cents.

If you can get yourself $400 real dollars (which should take much less than 5 months), you could get it much sooner?

…but of course it might be more fun to grind for 5 months… ;-)

Well ya I have 400 real dollars, but I don’t really want to spend that kind of cash on a game lol.

Poitus, this is the players helping players part of the forum. This is not the place to troll around.

Yes, if you have rl money and if you are willing to spend them it is perfectly ok to do so, but in my opinion the real enjoyment is to play them game.

OP: you are obvious thinking bout 3.2 gold per hour. This is possible and doable, but I wouldn’t recommend it. A legendary is mostly for show. The stats cab be obtained a lot easier and it doesnt make you a better player. In my opinion it is the road to it that count. Besides that, the 2000g is what is needed to buy sunrise. besides the precursor it take a lot less time to get the ingredients together.
The precursor itself, wel anet promised to change the way to get it (Anet why wait so long!!??).

But for me, the reward is not the goal (the legendary) but the road to it. The fun I have when playing the game. When I get my final legendary (eternity) I need to find a new goal..

Hey mercury,

Fair point & good call. I didn’t mean to troll, but I can see it being taken that way, so apologies to the OP!

I agree totally with you, mercury, and I was less eloquently trying to say what you are saying. I’m an “older” gamer, so time = money for me!

If you are going to spend 600 hours making 2000g, the best parts of the game will be missed. If you are dead set on getting sunrise, maybe spend 40 hrs in RL making $400, then 560 hrs in-game enjoying the journey of the game. To make the gold, I assume you would be champ training, and speed running, and losing out on the community aspect of it.

E.g yesterday I pug’d into a AC P1 that didn’t stack, and did Kohler, and ended up loving it and making two more contacts for future runs.

Later!
Pete

My view on legendaries is quite different. If I like a way a legendary looks I’ll go for one for my character. What I won’t do is farm or grind.

I’ll make a list of the stuff I need for the legendary I want and I’ll just play the game doing pretty much what I want to do.

When I have “close” to enough stuff, I’ll use in game gold to buy the rest of the stuff.

It doesn’t matter how long it takes me to get the legendary, because I don’t need it super fast…it’s not like I can’t pay with it.

So what if instead of taking you six months, it took you a year, but you enjoyed yourself more in game by doing stuff you wanted to do, when you wanted to do it?

Instead of calculating yourself you can also use this side to get the actual price :

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Well if you are doing dungeon speed run (Especially good in guild speed run since with pug you can be unlucky) you can get between 6 and 10 Gold per hour. Lets take 5 Gold per hours because its a round number and to take into account that you will switch dungeon, bio, doing other stuff, etc. This mean that you gonna need 400 hours. With 4 hours per day it mean about 100 days or about a little bit more than 3 months. I did my first legendary in 6 months and the second in 4 months so this make sense.

Crafting a legendary is a nice journey. Everyone can and should make it at their own pace IMO. If you start driving yourself to just farm farm farm, there is no more joy left in the game.

You should still play what you like, but focus a bit on making and not spending cash. The game throws money at you in so many ways that you will not feel the time passing before you start accumulating what you need.

Try to cut idle times to 0. You are idling in LA? Go to Queensdale and join the farm train until you decide what to do, it’s basically the same amount of effort. You have 10 mins to spare? Go do a CoF p1. Be efficient.

Of course, any and all other expenses must be as low as possible in order to gather what you need for the legendary.

I had a great time crafting mine and it only took some 3 or 4 months from the day I decided to get it until the MF made my Sun Rise.

Woaaahh is it actually 2000g to craft now? Coulda sworn it was selling for that much on the TP but nope the sell price is closer to 3000g now. It was selling for less than 2000g buyout a few months ago.. kinda sucks for u i guess. I was gonna say that it cost me ~1450g to craft it but since that was months ago dont think thats a relevant estimate anymore. But yeah it sucks, and it sucks for me too because I’m thinking about crafting another legendary and I have 1200g saved up, oh well I’ll probably have to save up waay more
