The wiki says that I can get it from loot bags but when I open my exotic heirloom seed pouches (from twilight arbor explorable) I don’t get any bloodstone dust. Do I have to be level 80 to obtain it? Thanks in advance!

Maybe you need to be 80 then, why do you need bloodstone dust before you are 80 anyways?

I think you need to be at least level 60 or 70, and you probably get more at 80. Bloodstone dust is really easy to get at 80, I have more than I could ever use (probably more than 10k at this point)

bloodstone dust is the easiest part of getting ascended gear, don’t even worry about it. The dragonite is much harder to get.

It only drops at 80 and it’s ridiculously easy to get you’ll have too much and be tossing stacks of it soon don’t worry.

Real question: Why can’t I delete it in bulk?

250 isn’t bulk enough for you? You can scrap it by the stack, and I don’t see why you’d ever have more than one stack taking up inventory space; even if you get thousands of dust a day, it should only ever take one space, to make room for things that matter.

To seansom: One MUST be level 80 ion order to obtain Ascended Materials (Bloodstone Dust, Dragonite Ore, Empyreal Fragments). Opening a champ bag, or a world chest, or whatever else, before hitting level 80 means none of that stuff appears.

But, he was being sarcastic based on the fact that anet decided to hand out a disproportionately large amount of dust compared to the other ascended mats that are needed for crafting.

You can only get ascended material at level 80. Not 60, not 70 and not 79.

It only drops from champion bags at level 80, just like you only get empyreal and dragonite from chests at 80.

I scrapped about 3500 bloodstone dust the other day. Finally decided to clear my bank again. Almost 4k dragonite too…

How to get bloodstone dust:

- do dungeons
- kill champions
- do WvW
- kill trash mobs
- cap a supply camp
- follow your Zerg for 5 minutes
- obsidian sanctum
- roaming
- kill squirrels
- dodge roll
- use /y chat
- jump
- breathe
- try selling it
- scrap bloodstone dust
- try to log off
- go down in madness

The source and values are good now, it’s just that the amount of Bloodstone Dust was WAY too high for months when Ascended was first released. Also, many more people do / did Champ farming early on so they generated more than the other Ascended materials.

Anet should have (and still should) alter the rewards so that each of the activities that give them give a smaller amount of ALL (or at least a random of 2) Ascended materials. They should also give us some better way (than the limited recipes available now) to dispose of Bloodstone Dust rather than destroying it.

Let me use it with skillpoints or some other limited resources to make SOMETHING useful in the Mystic Flusher…..

Oh, my. I can see it now:

[250 Ascended Material A]
[250 Ascended Material B]
[10 Thermocatalytic Reagents] OR [10 Crystalline Dust] OR [10 Philosopher’s Stones]
[3 Mystic Forge Stones]
=
[11-50 Ascended Material C]

Which would work for any combination of those three ascended materials (Empyreal, Bloodstone, Dragonite — raw form only). THIS IS GENIUS.
