Guild Wars 2

Hello everyone! I’m new to Guild Wars 2 and have just created my character. I made a Mesmer, but am being told it is one of the more difficult classes to play. In that case, I want to make another, but don’t know which class to choose. I was thinking about an Elementalist, but that seems kinda common. Any suggestions?

Mom leveled an Ele to 80 and loves it. But not easy for her. Between the Ele and Mesmer, I’d say Ele is a bit easier for most. I find them kinda equal.

I’d hate to draw you to any of the more easy classes though. I feel you’d be much more satisfied getting to the higher levels with classes you enjoy more. Mom did

Well, I was thinking about Engineer. Are they pretty hardcore?

Mesmer is fun I think, sure you don’t want to continue? Is not so hard after a while, also it has pretty effects.

Warrior is probably easier though.

Gives good class builds. On my Engi, I am able to either just use my rifle to kite, use grenades, or just run around mobs dropping bombs. Great class IMO

I also have an Engineer and those are my two favorite classes hands down.
I find my Ele much more difficult to play than my Mesmers btw.
Just pick whatever you find most fun to play, you will be happier in the long run.

Anyway… Lol I will have to try an Engineer. I will just have to decide which character shall be my main.

Both ele and mesmer are a bit more challenging to master but once you do, they are great to play. From what I’ve heard, warrior is easiest.

Warrior’s are icky. I’m more of a ranged/support kinda person. Don’t like clunky, bulk, damage dealers… :p

Brother, I would’ve agree’d with you due to Warriors from other games.. But the Warrior in this game is what you make of it. War offers both Melee/Ranged options as well as Damage, Crowd Control, and tons of support(via Shouts and Banners and certain weapons like the Warhorn. You can honestly make a Warlord-type of character) of you’re so inclined. The best advice anyone can give you is: Try not to relate classes to other games too much, because it’ll just make them harder to play and narrow your perspective on them.

Btw, I’ve been playing Mesmer since day one and rarely had a problem with it. Mesmer simply requires a bit more creativity than most classes. The class is also good at melee/ranged-damage/support and once you learn the weaponry, you’ll be teleporting around and fighting like an animé character

Edit: And Elementalists aren’t any more common than anyone else (and definitely not a generic “mage”), but mastering all four elements can get difficult and be a painful process.
