Q:
Are there any means of detecting hidden units?
Not calling it OP or anything, but its just that its a practically guaranteed escape mechanism rivaled only by a ranged teleport (blink) skill.
I’m all for sneaky play, i just need confirmation to my question. I’m hoping for something along the lines of a “Maya Purple Card” back in the olden RO days that indicated the position of the invisible unit but still cannot be attacked directly unless AoE cast.
Haven’t tested, since most enemy invisible units intend on killing me then run away fast… but do conditions show visual representations on invisible units? I know for a fact that the invisible weapon guys in the Orr instance can be blinded and it is visible, something to that extent.

Here, we’ll do a TLDR of VakarisJ’s post:
Answer: No.
Reason: There aren’t any long-duration stealths in the game.
Invisibility barely lasts 3 seconds, 4 with a trait that barely any thief actually gets, instead favoring pure DPS. Shadow Refuge gives 6 seconds of invisibility, but only while you stay in the circle and the downed invisibility lasts for barely 1 second.
Why would you need detection in such cases? It’s very easy to predict where the thief with unstealth – just check under bridges and around corners. Even more so when you can’t reenter stealth for 3 seconds after losing it.
If invisibility lasted for 10 seconds and more, maybe then there would be any actual use and reason for a detection ability.

The OP asked for confirmation to his question, not someone else’s opinion on whether it’s needed or not.
On topic: There is currently no invis or stealth detection currently in the game.

Hm… Didn’t notice. Anyway, his question is still answered via my counter-opinion.
And remember, players and mobs aren’t invincible while invisible. I think that’s a common mistake people make.
So if you think you know where someone’s going while invisible, keep swinging / casting.
An invisible person/mob cannot be targeted, but can surely still be hit by ground targeted AoE’s or by using an attack skill where you think they are.
I do not know of any invisibility longer than 6 seconds.
Thanks guys.
I was just in a state of shoot-myself-in-the-foot-ness when i dueled with an invi user and i felt pretty stuKITTENpid running around… as they say:
layk a bebe! runnin roun’ mekin’ noise dun no wat tu du!
with my guardian. switching to scepter+focus to randomly cast places too. even got 2 people as backup since it was taking so long…. then he eventually got away.
Really was hoping that condition effects displayed though… like a moving patch of fire or blind. haha.
