I’m new to the game and before I started playing I watched a lot of videos and it seems jumping puzzles are a big thing in this game. I was just wondering how you go about getting to these? Do you find them randomly or are they events? I know some of the vistas require some strategic jumping. I’m just very confused on how you go about finding them. Any help is very appreciated!

They are scattered about. Some sites have maps showing where they are. There is one in Queensdale in the south east corner of the map in a cave by a centaur camp. That one was pretty easy for me and I’m terrible at jumping. The hardest part is the end where all those blobs are because they are scattered about with veterans. It’s probably a good intro to jump puzzles though.

There is another one in Lions Arch that I know of. It is by a vista where you have to jump on some hay to get to. The entrance to the cave is in the same area. You go through some leaves from the hay and slide down a water fall. I got close to finishing but ended up wiping from a fall so I’ll have to visit it later.

Those are the only two I have found so far but they are scattered about in different areas including WvW maps. I just have not found them yet because I enjoy looking for them myself instead of looking it up. It makes exploring much more fun for me.

Also another fun thing to look for are high dives. I have found two, one is in Lions Arch and is easy to find from exploring and I think the other I found was in Metrica. Basically you put on a dive mask and jump off. You can push keys for different moves. I don’t know if it really means anything but it’s kind of fun to find and do.

Two of the diving spots are inside of a jumping puzzle in Mount Maelstrom.
There is also a jumping puzzle where if you fall and die baby quaggans run over to res you.

Some vistas are a combination of jumping puzzle/vista. The wiki has a list of the locations and solutions if you want to look them up.

Thank you very much, both of you! I will check those places out and see if I can find any!

We also found the first ones by stumbling upon them… then we had so much fun that we looked up the list in the wiki and other guides. They can be tremendous fun, and come in various degrees of difficulty.

I remember that one! Isn’t it in the Quaggan hatchery area. I say hatchery because there’s basically a nanny-Quaggan who raises a ton of baby Quaggans… right?

Jumping puzzles are permanent features rather than events (although some are harder to get to when certain events are running) and they’re scattered all around the world, but usually hidden.

Some are harder to find than others. There’s one in the sylvari starting area which I knew was a jumping puzzle as soon as I saw it, and others which I’ve been halfway through before I started thinking it’s a puzzle and not just a surprisingly accessible cliff.

After a while if you keep practising jumping on things it will get easier to spot what you can jump on and what’s too high (or just decorative) and therefore where the developers have put an actual path in. Which makes puzzles easier to spot and easier to do.

Jumping puzzles can only be found by exploration. You know when you did a jumping puzzle cause you made it to the end and you have found a chest. You will get an achievement (if it is your first time).

The wiki has a complete list of all jumping puzzles. You can view the list by typing in the game /wiki Jumping puzzle
Vista’s in generally are NOT jumping puzzles. There are however some Vista’s on top of a jumping puzzle.

Some jumping puzzles are pretty easy to recognise but others are really good hidden.

Oh and I’d like to add that some jump puzzles at least the one I know of in Queensdale seem to have false paths. The first time I tried it I thought I got to the end because I found a small chest but then when I looked at my achievement for monthly it showed no completion. I wondered why it seemed so easy. So I fiddled around until I found the right path where the big chest was at the end.

Yeah that’s part of the challenge, a lot will have false paths (a few have actual mazes) or dead ends or simply no clear path at all – especially ones which are mainly “natural” rock formations.

But all the puzzles give an achievement and most have a large chest at the end so you’ll know when you’ve done it.

True but you don’t get credit for puzzle completion until you take the right path. Like in my case I thought I had finished it but that turned out to be false.
