So I just came back to the game recently and im closing in on 80 on my first chara laurels werent in game when i played originally so im wondering when i hit 80 should i use laurels to buy the armor set boxes for my class or not or what should i use them on.

Don’t worry about the armor set boxes. Just save them for your ascended Amulet, and Utility Infusion.

Ye, the ascended trinkets, specially the amulets

ascended amulets> anything else purchasable with laurels
… though i have occasionally (twice) spent all my laurels on gear boxes… its not worth it (atleast; until you have asc amulet and utility infusion -if you arent going for a wvw/agony infusion- on all your chars)

1. Save them to buy ascended trinkets now.
2. Hoard them (for when full ascended gear is released EDIT: just in case they can be bought with laurels).

im curious; why do you think asc armour/weapons will be available with laurels?
- it seems to me like accessories/rings were made available because the primary method of aquisition (GMs/FotM) were both group based activities; and since asc gear offers a statistical advantage they decided to make it available (albeit; at a higher cost) to ‘single player mmo’ers’, if so; armour and weapons (especially weapons) aquisition definitely seems like it could be a single player story-esque… method… thing? – but i suppose i could be completely wrong

I would rather upgrade the tier of all gear together, so it’s easier to figure out stats. Odd I know, but I just prefer it that way – feels “neater” (yeah you might have guessed the aquabreather situation bothers me… )

As such laurels have no use for me at the moment, so just hoarding them in case they are used for purchasing further ascended gear.
If not I’ll just blow them on trinkets.

i suppose its kind of like; i have t3 salad cultural on my ranger… except for the leggings; which are TA… and hardly noticable… and bugs the hell out of me… but have too many alts to spare the gold to buy something that isnt noticable

ya at this points its all hording with the dream of armor and weapons.

Isn’t there a cap on how many laurels you can hold at a time?

I bought an ascended amulet and dumped a few laurels into dye kits -_- … Also contemplating the minis.

(Sidenote on ascended gear: It looks like you can’t get anti-agony gear with laurels anyway, so if I want anything that helps with fractals I will have to earn them through running fractals.)

I don’t feel I need to hoard the laurels – I can always get new ones if/when they release new items.
