Hello there GW Community.

I know people get tired with these types of posts but I really do need your expertise and help in this matter.

I want to give this game a real good go but I often make mistakes in MMOs and the last class I level is normally the one I like the most.

I am looking for the following things:
– decent at farming multiple mobs
– good in wvw and pvp in general
– a decent amount of burst
– a decent amount of livability
– useful in pve end game

Is there any class that fits the above criteria?

I appreciate your help in advance.

I’m working on a Necromancer right now and it seems as if that profession might fit the bill as well if you find Warrior to be boring:

- a wide variety of AoE skills – staff marks, conditions, wells, Death Shroud, etc. So, good for farming. Epidemic is amazing for taking down a boss’ adds.
- possible to trait for conditions or power (wellomancer, axe/vulnerability + minions)
- good survivability with multiple condition-removal options
- I haven’t played much with power builds yet, so I can’t comment too much on burst potential, but Death Shroud has some skills that hit pretty hard. i’d imagine these would be even more fun on a power build
- decent support with minions, and you can trait them to be even stronger

Necro is not as face-melting as Warrior, and the learning curve is steeper, but it’s my favorite caster profession and very fun to play.

I also vote necromancer. I play one as main now.

– decent at farming multiple mobs
-> ultimate mob tagger on events with wells / epidemic / death shroud, etc AoE skills
– good in wvw and pvp in general
-> you can be tank with 50k HP on wvw or you can run fear build in more organised pvp
– a decent amount of burst
-> DS glass cannon build autoattacs from death shroud hit 5-10k+ (yes, warriors do more, but I am happy with my necro dps). Also note that this is dps from range, so I don’t need to run to swap target like melee needs to do.
– a decent amount of livability
-> Necromancer has two HP pools (normal HP pool and death shroud HP pool), with PVT armor normal HP is ~30k. Plague boosts that HP to 50k with 5.5k armor and 4,4k attack.
– useful in pve end game
-> Necro doesn’t give much group support. Sometimes fears & condition removals are wanted on dungeons, but I haven’t had problems to find group (but I am not person who would even want to run optimal cof groups all day for money)

Below are my WvW build stats (power well build). I use another build for PvE (DS build)

There are two tiers of classes in dungeons:

Tier 1: Everything that isn’t necro
Tier 2: Necro

Decent DPS, but lack utility.

If I were OP I’d either roll warrior or guardian.

Sanctum of Rall (NA) – [LOD] – PvE/Dungeon Phantasm Mesmer build
Morrï (Mesmer) | Serah Mahariel (Guardian) | Morrï Mahariel (Warrior)

Warrior may come on as a bit repetetive and overrated/overplayed. Many people take a look at a Warrior and say ‘nah’, but that is because Warrior is an easy class to play, yet is hard to master. There is also a lot of different ways to play. One of my friends found a build that gives 41,000 base health. This is more health than a Guardian can ever have. Also full zerker can dish out over 15,000 in one move (its 100 blades I know). As stated before, Warrior fits all criteria., and everyone wants it in a dungeon. Necromancer, although I think are as good in dungeons, are not wanted in many dungeon groups. Think about how you will play, and that shall help determine what class you pick.
PvE – Warrior stands tall
WvW – I have seen Necromancers be much more effective than Warriors
PvP – No information here, sorry

If you like more damage and less survivability, warrior
if you like more survivability and a bit less damage, guardian

Well that’s a lie because guardian DPS is on par with warriors.

I will chip in with mesmer. I survive very well on it, against single and multiple mobs. A good shatter and you have huge damage.

Engineer suits all of those criteria, yet it is challenging to play and is only good when played well.

Warrior suits all of those criteria, yet it is very simple and easy, and this could be considered to be boring, if you like a challenge.

Guardian full berzerker DPS is higher than Warrior full berzerker DPS, however a Guardian needs a Warrior to get the buffs necessary to out-DPS the Warrior, whereas the Warrior can supply those buffs to himself.

The best Guardian DPS is on par with the best Warrior DPS. So… unless your’e intentionally using crappy weapons… it doesn’t much depend on what you’re using.

My last choice would be the class with the pet.

As mucha as I hate saying this: warrior

They have the best combination of dungeon damage, team support, burst, and survivability.
