So I’m stuck at 99% map completion it’s the only thing I have left before I can get my legendary and all that is left is in wvw. Since I mostly pve I’m wondering how do the colors work in wvw, when does it switch and how does it swap, is it random or is there a specific system to it?

It used to be based on rank and it was pretty predictible then, but the WvW matchup is more random now. So the colors are pretty random from week to week depending on who you are facing. ( I think, since I don’t WvW much myself )

Yeah, it seems random, during the Season 1 for example, HoD was never the red server, was green for 3 weeks in a row, I can’t see a pattern there.

It changes randomly now, from what I saw. Just log in now and get everything your world owns, then log back in again Saturday and maybe your world will be a different color after reset. Repeat. Proffit (sort of).

as far as I know it is pretty random. The way the system works (I guess) is as follows
Step one: the matchup is decided
Step two: roll an RNG to determine who gets what colour.

So keep trying and chacking after reset and eventually you will get it.

Subquestion: is the EotM going to be part of map completion or as southsun cove not needed for it??

I’m in the same boat as the OP. Need only a couple POIs and vistas in green territory and it’s been weeks.

During the livestream from a while ago they said there weren’t any map completion objectives in EotM.
