New to elementalist
I’m using D/D but I haven’t bothered reading any guilds that would likely tell me I’m having fun for the last 40 levels all wrong.

Hmmm D/D — is that dagger/dagger? Never occurred to me to put 2 of the same weapon. I’ll give it a try and TYVM for the tip=)
Yes dagger/dagger. I played a thief before this and they have both dagger/dagger and pistol/pistol as load out options.

For fire and air, the two attunements I use while soloing, most of the attacks are short range cone so I only need to point at my target rather than target them. I also slot my weapons at the moment with signets of fire for the extra burst of damage every so often.
But like I said, I’m probably not playing the profession “right”.

When I made my elementalist I started leveling with staff but didn’t really like it. Switched to D/F, never looked back.

Very fun to play imo, only disadvantage is that it requires you to be in melee range.
D/D is better suited for PvP for combat. D/F will be a better choice for PvE combat. That said. D/D can do the job for someone not interested in efficiency and it give you more mobility which is nice when you explore the world.
In terms of long range eles are all about throwing down massive aoe spells and most if not all are/will be ground target its just something u will have to get used to. Once the action camera goes live it should make aoes a LOT easier to throw down. If you dont wanna deal with it alltogether than go with d/d but thats not long range at all
