Guild Wars 2 is a different game than many other MMOs, so if you’ve played other MMOs you may find some major differences here….you know, like no quests. lol
Think of a world that’s sort of alive. Things are going on whether you show up or not. You don’t have to go up to a quest giver and get a quest. You see an outpost or town attacked and you jump in to help. You see fires and you pick up a bucket and put it out.
Because of this you don’t go from quest hub to quest hub like in many games. You just wander where you want. You can create a human character and level in any of the other race’s starting areas.
And you don’t have to finish a zone if you don’t want, because you can always come back. Due to downleveling, zones are always relevant. There are often hidden secrets in zones waiting for you to discover.
I’d recommend taking my time leveling (which is pretty fast anyway) and not trying to get to max level in a hurry. The thing is, there’s a linear progression in leveling, so it takes about the same time to get from level 70-71 as it does to get from 20-21.
