First bump of the new year!

The sale weekend is over, with the potential of a lot of new players coming to Tyria, so time for a bump.

Also, we still do guild missions that are open invite to any who want to join us. You can find us at Cornucopian Fields Waypoint in Gendarran Fields, just north of Lion’s Arch. We usually start gathering around 8:10 PST / 11:10 EST and try to get started near to 8:30 PST.

Guild Missions are a bit random, and we can’t choose the level of some of the events. But the Puzzle is always less than level 25, so don’t feel you have to be at 80 to come take part.

Of course, you can always whisper an officer listed on the first post if you have questions.

Mecha – At this point, the majority of our players are on NA, which is also where our guild missions take place. Those we still have who are on EU, I have not seen much of late, though that could also be due to time zone differences. You would only be able to interact with most of us through guild chat, though you could still get advice or provide it through that.

That being said, I will still send an invite, which you should have in a few minutes, in case you would still like one. If you would rather move on to another guild focused on the EU side, that is perfectly understandable. There is a Looking For… section of the forums that you might find helpful in a search for a more casual EU guild:

Hey Illuzion! I’m away from my computer at the moment, but if no one sends an invite your way, I’ll take care of that later on today.

As for things you can do, I think I saw a thread started by you on it, so you’ve probably already heard this already; if you have any interest in fighting other players, you have PvP, which sets all the gear people have at the same level, and you have nearly every option that any other player would – the more recent additions, last I checked, have to be bought with gold, but I don’t believe most people use them anyway. There’s also WvW, for more massive combat (though you still have roamers that run solo or in small groups), where the gear you have carries over.

There’s also dungeons you can play through – I’d add more, but I really need to get going now. Hope to see you in Tyria!

HI, thanks for the reply here! Just completed the story dungeon quest in defeating Zhaitan. Really enjoyed it. I bought 1 part of the extra season2 content (Gates of Maguuma) to try it out and I must say the storyline is quite engaging! Feels like a singleplayer game again. Right now I’m just walking throughout to get the rest of the waypoints for the world map for easy travelling.

Hey, Deatrich, you have an invite now. I’m also on Ferg’s Crossing as well, and spend some time in WvW myself, though the only time I typically set aside just for it is on reset night.

Been a while since anything came up in here, so bump! For any people peeking through, yes, we are still active, most of our activity is still in NA, and guild missions coming up tomorrow, as usual, at 11:30 PM EST. Remember that you don’t have to stay in the guild if you want to come for them – we do temp invites for people who just want the guild commendations, or to experience some of the content.

Even if I don’t constantly post in here, I usually have the forum open and check regularly (and another officer may catch a post before me too), so I should see any posts within a day, at least.

I’d like help to learn about dungeons and how to run them as I’ve only done like 2 with friends who don’t really play much anymore. I’ve also never been on a guild mission, which I’d like to try.
Active: Most nights from 11-12pm til 4-5am CST ( Yeah I’m one of those weird night owl Americans) On Fri and Sat I may be on earlier to play with my BF.
Additional Comments: I like general chatting, and I don’t mind listening, but I can tend to ramble, so if you want me to shut up, just tell me. If chat gets real busy I usually fall behind cause of my lack of multitasking skills. >.< I do enjoy helping others and having fun, cause that’s the whole point of it, right?
A good part I’ve played solo in my time here on GW2. I play a little with the friends that got me into the game, then they went more less inactive. Then I found out another friend had the game and we started playing together, then he bought the game for a mutual friend of ours, so it was the three of us playing together. Ended up with a falling out with the first friend and he went inactive but the latter is now my BF and is currently the only active person I play with.
I’ve never been in a big guild on here, only in past games{POTCO} and I had a lot of fun then. So far I’ve only been in a friend’s guild that’s rather small and inactive; my BF and I do have a personal guild that I rep when playing with him or solo. I do actually have 4 other characters but we lvl ours together, so unless it’s the weekend playing with him expect me to be on Moon.
I’ve been hesitant to post about find others to play with because of bad experiences the past couple of ‘groups’(not in GW2 mind you) I’ve been in(one ended in a mess of drama and another I was treated as an outsider because I was new and ‘untrusted’) ; but after my BF’s job keeps him from playing except on weekends now, while I don’t mind sometimes playing alone, I’m getting a little tired of running solo.
I prefer to run everywhere I can rather than port. :P
I’ve spend a majority of my time in the lower lvls and am just now getting into unlocking the mid-lvl areas, yes sad I know
I occasionally run the boss train within my lvl(57 as of now) although I don’t yet have a couple of the waypoints to the lvl 50 bosses, and I normally do the daily.
I also spend a lot of time gathering resources to sell for gold, as it seems the best way I can at my lvl; if someone has a better suggestion, I’d love to hear. I’m trying to save up to buy a character slot for my BF. :P

You’re not the only one who’s not often in large guilds either – this guild was actually my first that wasn’t all people I knew already, in this game or any other. Until I joined, I partied at most with a couple friends of mine, with the rare exception of trying a dungeon, back when gw2lfg was commonly used (guesting/no megaservers, and no lfg window like what we have now).

Feel free to jump into guild chat though, or you can just lurk at first if you prefer – don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have them either.

Several of our members have been in at least a few dungeons, with some of us having the Dungeon Master title. You won’t necessarily always be able to get a group, but if you see someone advertising for a dungeon run, feel free to jump in, or just ask in guild chat if there’s one you’d like to try out. Let them know if you haven’t run it already, so they can provide any information that you may need, or at the very least so everyone in the group is aware of where the members stand experience wise – probably don’t need to say that, but I will anyway.

As for gaining gold – for now, I’d stick with the resource gathering. When you get to 80, I’d still gather resources when you see them if you can – some of the mid tier resources sell pretty well, especially cloth, since people need it to make ascended gear. Edge of the Mists can help you get levels quickly as well as champion bags, though I don’t usually advise that for the first character. Once you get to level 80, or close, the most recent map we got, Silverwastes, can be good for getting gold or some resources quickly too. Dungeon runs, once you’re used to them, on faster paths can be good for some quick gold, as well as a couple world bosses that you’re not quite yet to (though one you’d want to be in voice chat). I can bring more up ingame, and so can some others in the guild.

Yeah, getting used to a big group again will be interesting, I’m so used to only playing with friends. I’ve basically played with all of about 6-7 people, I never really used random groups or LFG.

Depending on how the chat is I may jump right in, or I may lurk at first, but I will start chatting after a bit for sure. I often throw in random comments on stuff. x3

I will try to look for if you guys are running dungeons and will be sure to point out I know pretty much nothing about them. The only one or two I did run I really don’t remember much. x3 So anyone who would decide to have me is gonna have to deal with a total noob. >.<

It seems to be working well enough for the time being. I need to find out the best places to farm for cloth. XD
TBH I don’t even really know what the Edge of the Mists even is, I guess time to go look that up. heh
I’m not too worried about hurrying up on getting lvls as I’m gaining regularly without even trying. I heard SW was good for stuff, once I do get to that lvl.
Dungeons is something I’m very interested in as I do know they are good for gold.
I’ve only got Skype for voice atm, and I know that’s not what people usually use for games like this. I’m also not usually one to just jump into voice without knowing the people for a little while first.

I just logged on again yesterday after over a year of not playing and honestly I have no idea what to do at this point, so I’m looking for a guild to maybe help guide me a little bit. I managed to level a warrior to 80 when I first played (which was right after release), but I quickly got bored because I was by myself and I felt like there was no fun end-game. Anyway, I’d like to get back on track and maybe do some WvW as it looks super fun, and just in general be able to run dungeons and stuff (something I never did) with some cool people as well and being more social this time around. Hey Amadran, you have an invite. You should be able to find some people in the guild for most things, but I don’t think we have many on Sorrow’s Furnace who could join you in WvW. (I’m on Ferguson’s Crossing, so I’ve seen your server as an enemy a lot in the past.)

If you want to get into that, I’d suggest asking on your WvW maps about any voice programs they use, or server websites. At a glance, www.sorrowsfurnace.com might be another good place to check. If you see a commander on any of the maps (except Edge of the Mists, cross server), you’ll probably get some information, even if it’s just pointing you to another commander/guild that could help you further. And really, being able to join your server with voice can make WvW so much more fun.

Hey, thanks for the invite. I’m just wondering though, is Sorrow’s Furnace well-populated? Personally, I can’t play an MMO that has a large amount of deserted zones and/or a low population in general, I like seeing it have lots of people because it makes the game feel more alive. Similar reason as to why I want to join a guild as well. >_<

Answering ingame, but for others who come by – for PvP and PvE, it doesn’t matter, because of the megaserver system we have now. For WvW, I’m not sure how their numbers stand anymore – would have to ask in WvW or check their forums or something. Currently ranked 22, just below my server, and we still have activity – just not so much outside of primetime.

Joel, I’m not sure if you’re wanting an invite – we don’t have as many people on EU as we used to though, and if you’re looking for someone to help with the founding, I’m honestly not so sure you’ll find someone in the guild for that.

Bex, we don’t have a rep requirement, so that’s fine. A lot of the people in the guild are more casual players, but there are still some who have experience in dungeons and fractals. For WvW, we’re cross-server, but most are likely still on Tarnished Coast – while I believe we do have some on Ehmry Bay, it would probably be a small number. Still, invite will be sent to you in a few minutes.

As for the thread being for making friends – founding a new guild is a bit more involved. This one started in the original Operation Union thread not long after launch, and was originally a place for people to find others to run dungeons with, before the lfg panel was brought in and before sites like gw2lfg were really used. It kind of morphed into a guild after that and continued on.

I said that you probably won’t find others in the guild for founding a new one, in part because they wouldn’t really know you yet, in part because you haven’t said anything about what kind of guild you want to make, and also many of the people in the guild are more casual players – and then those who aren’t are also not likely to want to put in the work to start up a new guild, given the above points.

This guild is an unusual one in that regard, again going off of what I said before about the original thread starting differently and morphing into a guild. And while this thread is unusual, people would rightfully be offended if you tried to recruit/get people to help found in the middle of a thread they created for their guild – saying that just in case you decide to post there.

If you decide to stick with trying to found that guild, and plan on using the forums (though it helps otherwise too), I suggest trying to get a clear idea of what kind of guild you want to create – do you want something focused on WvW, in which case you would want to take people only on your server? Or maybe you want to start one centered around dungeons? Perhaps a social guild that goes for whatever members want at the time? When you start to recruit people who aren’t, say, real life friends, having a strong sense of what the guild is for, while not a requirement exactly, would be beneficial. But if you want to work toward that, I wish you luck.

The only reason I was looking for people to found a guild with is because I couldn’t find a fun one to join. That said I’d forget about forming a new guild if I found a friendly, laid back one to join. Also I am sorry if I offended anyone with my post, it was not my intention.

No, sorry – no offense taken, though after rereading my post I can see how one would think so. I was just saying that because it struck me as unusual for someone to ask for people to help found a guild like that. And like I said, this thread is a bit unusual too – if it were in the lfg forum specifically for recruiting people to this guild, I would be offended, but it’s different in this one.

The only other thing was that our EU side isn’t as active as it used to be, as far as I’m aware – though people on EU could also be more active when I’m not. I didn’t want to invite you without letting you know that much. For now, we also only have enough people for things like Guild Missions on the NA side – we’ll see how that goes after HoT hits though.

Still, since you can be in multiple guilds, and we have no rep requirement, if you find you like it with us, you can always stay part of the guild at the same time you try for another one. While you can’t play with the people on NA, you can still chat with us – so feel free to jump into guild chat, whether it’s random comments, joining in with a ridiculous discussion, or asking/answering questions.

Think of it as a relaxed, social place where you can hop in when you just want other players to chat with or to find a group for some content. We do guild missions and other events as well, and there are people in the guild who take part in everything GW2 has on offer from PvE, PvP, WvW and RP.

Definitely no pressure to be chatty or commit to a schedule. So feel free to jump in when the mood catches you, and do your own thing when you like. You’ll find an invite in game in your guild panel (G).

If you are testing out classes, using the PvP Lobby (sometimes called the Mists) will allow you to test out each class. Even if you are level 1 in PVE, the Mists lets you try all the traits and skills as if you were at level 80. There’s also a merchant cheap versions of all the weapons to try out. There are some practice target dummies and NPCs to try things out on. It’s a great way to get a good preview of what a class can do.
