Q:

While looking at the official Wiki for help in doing some jumping puzzles for the first time, I saw what was called a “shortcut” in the Wiki, or “void jumping”. I won’t explain what it is here in case it’s against the rules, and I assume people will know what I’m talking about.

My question is: Is “void jumping” against the rules and a bannable offense?

As I said, it’s listed on the official Wiki as a shortcut, but after looking into it it seems like an exploit, allowing people to skip large parts of jumping puzzles.

I like jumping puzzles, but I’m also easily frustrated by them, so shortcuts do have an appeal to me… But as frustrating as jumping puzzles can be, I care more about keeping my account in good standing and following the rules.

“Breaking out of an map is not something we would normally ban for unless it was being maliciously used. That being said, some breakouts require useage of a bug to perform them and may look overly suspicious to a GM that may be trailing you. I’ll look into it.”

It is not against the rules unless you are using 3rd party software or hacks to do so. Further, it would be against the rules if you use the map break out to be malicious against other players in any way.

As such, if you are trying to break out of a WvW map, I would not risk it, as that will have the most likely suspicion of being malicious to other players (especially with a known “WvW hacker” on the loose).
