Selling a Precursor? (The Hunter)
Find someone you REALLY trust who has the cash to sell it for you or lend you the gold to sell it, maybe even give them a little interest for the help selling it? Mail it to me and I will list it for you at whatever price you like, however I doubt you would trust a random person with something of that cost. but short of making the gold yourself, those are your options.
Tink has the best answer, IMO. Is there someone in your guild that could lend you the gold to list it on the condition that you pay them back when it sells? I’d do that for a guildmate that I trusted.
If you aren’t close enough with anyone to feel comfortable with that option then your only choice really is to try and earn enough gold yourself. You can do some farm runs in Orr and Southsun. Plenty of youtube videos out there on “how to earn gold” or you can buy the gems and convert to gold (not recommended).
Since you need ~25g and you have an item worth ~500g, I recommend you do not send it to someone who would sell it for you. Why? This someone must have the 25g and it would require less trust for him to lend you 25g than for you to lend him 500g.
Therefore, If someone offers to sell it for you – asking you to trust him with 500g !- ask yourself why he wouldn’t trust you with 25g? Especially considering that you’ll have 20 times that gold once it’s sold.
Ask your friends in game to lend you some gold or go farm the 25g.

In most cases it is because you are asking for a service, so the person putting out the gold is doing something to try and help, not asking for something. If I had someone I know in game ask me for 25g so they could sell something yes, I would be very iffy about doing it unless I knew them in person, just because I have gold does not mean I (or the person in question) should be careless with it. However if someone wanted me to loan out 25g so they could get 500g and gave me the item for collateral, I would do it. Just like any other loan etc, a bank holds the rights to the house/car etc, in this case the person putting up the gold holds the item till it sells.
Finding someone to just mail you 25g will be much harder than someone selling it for them, which is also why I said someone they REALLY trust.

It would be easier to find five people and borrow 5 gold each. I’m sure that there’s a number of players who would take that risk, especially if they got it back with interest
If The Hunter sells for 500g, then paying them back with interest won’t be a problem either.
OP, whatever you decide to do, I hope it goes well for you.

OP, I am willing to lend you 5 Gold.
No interest needed.
I actually only would need about 10 gold to make up enough to sell it. Though I’m really putting getting loans from others as my last resort.
I did hear a rumor that I could potentially list an item for just it’s sell price, and then it would sell for the highest (or lowest) buy order. Of course that’s a little bit risky when we’re talking about an item that sells for 400+ gold.
That 15% listing fee is really annoying…
You can make 10 gold very easily if you put your mind and some effort into it. Get busy!
empty your collectible stash you will be amazed at the wealth you amass from that crap.

The listing fee is 5% not 15%. On top of the listing fee you have to pay 10% tax when you have sold it (so over the profit). The price you list it for is the buy out price. So don’t put it up for a lower price then what it is worth. So if you put it up for a buy-out price of 500 gold (dunno the current exact price). You have to pay 25 gold to list it not 75 gold.
Your thread made me think and made me make a suggestion in the suggestion thread. Maybe you want to read it and if you agree show your support:

To summorize my suggestion: the listing fee goes away. the tax goes up to 15% and if you want to remove an unsold item from, the tradepost you pay a 5% penalty. then end effect is the same but it enables lucky players like you to list high value items.
