I’ve read a few posts saying to post an alt at a JP chest to get silver doubloons. So I parked a toon at a chest in Lion’s Arch for about 3 weeks and never received a doubloon. I thought maybe it wasn’t the right JP so I went about trying to do as many JPs as I could. I’ve done around 30 now and haven’t received a single doubloon yet. Am I just wrong about how often they drop? Guess I thought they would show up semi-regularly.

P.S. all my characters are level 80, so I assume that isn’t the problem.

That IS the problem. You need a character somewhere in the 20-30 range for silver doubloons.

Yeah, the silver doubloon are in the “drop table” only in the lvl 20~30 range.

@hades, you could edit the topic instead of post multiple times, anyway it is called forum filter, the admins make a list of words that will get censured and replaced by other, on this forum some words are changed to “kitten”

That isn’t entirely true. You can also get them through the MF and loot bags. Character level doesn’t affect either of those.

but still the drop rate is very low others the wouldn’t be 1g80s for a silverdoubloon

So it sounds like even if I created a new alt, leveled him up to the 20s and sat him at a JP, the odds are still really low to get one in the chest. Probably not worth it then?

dont know its harder to farm 2g then just placing char of lvl 21 on JP to just pick them up

I know a person who runs multiple level appropriate alts through a couple of the puzzles a day. Apparently that was enough profit to buy several of the spear precursor. With just one character and one puzzle? Probably not that great but if you aren’t doing anything with the character slot and you want the doubloon/gold then why not? It would only take a couple of minutes at most to log in, open chest, switch to another character.

Not really. That is just 2 dungeon runs, possibly less depending on the dungeon/path combination. The 2g is guaranteed. The doubloon is not.

I parked 3 level 20-30 characters next to a chest about a month ago and found 5 or so silver dubloons in total. It’s not amazing, but seeing and opening the chest only takes a couple of seconds each day, it was free gold.

I do have to say that I only use these characters for personal story though, so not using them for anything else right now is not too much of a commitment.

having to be between 20-30 is pretty much the main reason silver dubloons are so rare and expensive. well that and it being a chance item for chests.

Thanks for this. I haven’t seen a doubloon since release and when one dropped for me on an alt the other day i couldn’t for the life of me figure out why it was worth so much. Considering a year or so ago i was vendoring the things lol.

Not worth it. I’ve done the same and so far my return is 6 silver doubloons in 5 months(one chest per day)

If you are going to do this it should be the 3 in LA plus Under New Management(the one in Southsun Cove next to the portal).
