So How Did You Get Your Legendary?
I forged my clovers first, got my gifts for the mastery, forged my precursor, and then friends and guildies helped me complete my bifrost. This was a really long process. It was spread out along a couple months. I farmed a few tier 6 per day, did dungeons for gold to buy them, and inched slowly to it.
For my dreamer I already had the clovers, I had all of the mastery gift. I forged the precursor randomly on my bday and then friends and guildies donated t6 so I could complete the weapon on my bday.
But both were very casual, I didn’t rush anything really. A slow amassing of materials is much less pressure than farming. I found it much more pleasant that way.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
After about 1 year after game launch I got gold enough to buy the precursor from TP (Tooth of Frostfang) and along this 1 year I had a lot of material stored, then I crafted the clovers and getting some T6 from the fails.
Then I had to grind the HotW a bit for the koda gifts, and some World Bosses for ectos and done, I got my Frostfang.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Explored the world first. Then farmed for clovers, then farmed for mats, then farmed for spark. Besides the standard se coe and cof speed runs you should try the champ train in frostgorge sound. But guest in desolation or underworld since thats where mostly every1 is farming
Really? Mine just fell out of the sky waiting for me to loot it.
I started working on my first legendary a few months into the game launch. My method of making money back then was farming Orichalcum, Ancient Saplings, and Omnomberries every day. My second legendary was funded almost entirely by world boss ectos (salvaged from the rares) and Clockwork Chaos invasion events (when they were good for champ bags). The third legendary I’m working on now (just some T6 left) has primarily been funded from old material pile ups in my bank, and daily dungeon runs.

I gave up after the first few months of launch, and now I have about 200 gold total… so no legendary for me xD
I always ask people how they get so much gold, but they never really give a good answer O.o

For most, its just hard work and luck. I knew people that got legendaries in a week or so of hard work, unfortunately it takes me a couple months to farm the gold for one. In the days of cof p1 farm, I’d make like 15-25g per day. I also got lucky in the forge a couple months back and got a Dusk drop from a couple of GS i bought with tokens, sold this for an easy 700g or so. Nowadays just running a couple daily dungeons gets u an easy 10g/day, without even needing to try that hard. atm I have 2000g saved up for a 3rd legendary, for which I still need to work on world completion if I am to craft.

It took me 7 months to complete my Sunrise, 5 of which were spent being relatively unfruitful. My big break came in august when the Crown Pavilion came out, and within a week I had farmed about 400g. I then saved my way to buy ordering Dawn at 571g, and I consider myself quite lucky to have the order filled in the same day, as the lowest seller was selling at 620+g. In the few weeks that followed, I spent some additional cash to directly buy my T6 from the TP. My friends donated all the mats they had to further push me to Sunrise, and so I got it.
The end.
“Memories are nice, but that’s all they are.”
Started and finished my Incinerator in 2 months. I had been playing since launch but never bothered with them. And later decided on a whim to make one.
I had about 100g when i started and to get enough gold, i ran all dungeons paths pretty much everyday (except SE p2, CoF p3, Arah p4). With the dungeon tokens, i managed to forge 2 Storms, each sold for @300g.
I didn’t farm nor mined for mats, got everything through gold. At the time i still had about 3mill karma and enough badges from the achieve boxes.
EDIT: And a friend lent me about 200g.
Got a Legend drop, sold it and crafted 3/4 of the items for Twilight
Mystic forged a dusk from 4 random rares.
I played the game, I didn’t rush for my legendary. No need to rush for something you will admire for a while
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
I made a list for each gift I would need. Farmed each one separate. Made the gift as I finished all the pieces to its respective puzzle. For my precursor I lucked out oddly. I do well on blc and I had 7 tickets waiting in my bank. I used 5 of them to obtain the love struck weapons day of release earned enough gold (added to my saved gold) bought my leaf of kudzu ASAP.
Never intended to make a legendary, never saved up materials for this purpose until last Sept i made i comeback in GW2 after a half year break. I got a dawn from lv60 mob when i was trying to get my map completion done.
Since then up to today, i’ve got all clovers, map completions, gift of light done. All i need now is 160k kama for obsidian shard, roughly 1200 T6 materials and 100 gold for icy rune stone. That probably 3~4 months of game play with my pace.
I created my Twilight yesterday
It has been a quest that took me over a year of casual play form the moment I first thought it would be nice to make one some day. I started with the Karma and salvaging rares for globs. During this first step i also managed to get world completion (in the time that the colours of wvw did not change that often which meant running a lot and hiding from enemy zergs. The badges I also saved during that time (when they were not trown at you via achievement chests) This all happened quite some time ago because the step that came after was saving LOTS of gold to buy Dusk. I managed to save enough to buy it last weekend.
With the finish line in sight I started selling collectibles (am a bit of a horder so had a lot of those) to first create the lodestones en to buy the icy runestones. The t6 mats I had been saving since the start of my quest and i completed my collection yesterday with my saved up laurels and some gold.
This for me was a quest of epic proportions. It has cost me blood sweat and tears but the moment it rolled out the forge yesterday is one to remember.

No Legendaries for me. I main an asura engi, so anything I make would be small and seen 1/4 of the time anyway. So no point.
Also, I hate grinding and farming so 320g is the most I’ve ever had. I’m content. I think at this point if a precursor dropped I’d sell it and enjoy my new gold.

I’ve got a precursor but im in no rush to get a legend
stat wise they are no different to ascended which I have more than enough of
honestly just go about it at you’re own pace

My shiny is Kudzu.
Took a long time and quite a lot of effort. It took 4 months, started really saving towards it in Nov. and finally finished it a few weeks ago. Did daily Orr harvest route on 3 chars to save the gold for pre. Leaf of Kudzu cost 560g when I bought it. I bought most of the T6 mats required but I’m blessed to have awesome guildies who helped me along by chipping in whenever they got any as drops. Bought rares for dungeon tokens to salvage for the ectos. Karma for obsidian shards was the hardest thing to get on the last leg of it. I don’t do a lot of events, only started playing in August, about a week or two before the karma nerf and most of the karma I had amassed by Nov was spent on all rare/exo recipes for all crafting professions. Luckily the guild helped me once again, taking me to low level fractals for a couple of days so I could buy shards for relics.
Now I’m working on my 2nd, The Predator, but taking it slow and waiting for mats and karma to pile up again.
