Is there a way to change a soulbound back slot item to account bound? I know the general method is to transmute the skin to a white item and then transmute it again onto the other character’s item, but there don’t appear to be any back items that could be used for the first transmute.

Only one applicable ‘white’ rarity back item is available, these can be obtained by purchasing a backpack set from the trading post. It has to specifically be the set that you buy and not the cover (The set contains a cover and a brace, the brace being the white item).

Once you have this you should be able to follow the same method as other items for transferring them.

I used a Toymaker’s Bag from way back to transfer a soulbound back item. Check your bank to see if you have any of those.

one thing to note: when transferring soulbound to another character, you will ALWAYS lose the stats of the item. you can only transfer the item’s skin.

You do, but then you can use a Transmutation Splitter on the new char and recover the 2 original items but soulbound to the new char, not the old. Or have they changed this?

huh. a LOT more expensive, but that might work. I see no reason it wouldn’t. really only useful for ascended / legendary items.

Just so you guys know, I tried the transmute to white/soulbind to other character/transmutation splitter idea and it did not work. I got back the original item/skin with the stats of a rare instead of the ascended stats.

Just posting to save everyone else the trouble of trying this.

I tried this less than 12 hours ago and you do get the stats of the original item.
