What Are Your Keybinds
I make PvP & WvW videos
The only different-than-default key-bind I have is ‘CapsLock’ instead of ‘-’.
Yes, I’m that ‘casual’. Lol.
Oh, and I use neither a regular ‘Dell mouse’ nor a ‘gaming mouse’. I did see my mouse on a couple of desks in one of the ‘Tour the ArenaNet Studio’ videos, but I’m sure we odd-mouse users are a very small minority.
(edited by Inculpatus cedo.9234)
I set my “Run” to R, and my walk toggle to “Z”.

Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
^Aren’t those default? If not, then I amend my former statement to say: I have those, as well.
I have 4 extra buttons on my Logitech mouse, so have jump and “reverse” on two of them. Still haven’t decided if I want to put anything on the other two.
Then I use a Nostromo n52 for most everything else. Don’t need the keyboard for normal game play.
I kept my weapons skills and mechanic as default as they are already easy to reach. Changed my skills to: heal on Q, skills on E, R and T, and elite skill on C.
Can’t even remember how much of the small things as walk, turn around, etc. I have changed form default though :p
I mostly stick with defaults, but I like Shift+R to enable/disable walking speed. I already associate R with movement from the autorun command, so that was a really easy binding to get my head around.
I’m curious what other people did for the special action command, or whatever it’s called, that’s used for the new mastery against bloodstone magic. I used Numpad0, since it’s out of my normal way and relatively easy to bash when it comes up, but I’m sure there’s something better/closer I could be using.
Skills 1, 2, and 3 are the same
Skills 4 and 5 are the two side buttons on my mouse (forward / back)
Skill 6 is middle mouse
Utility skills are Z, X, C, V
Profession skills are G, R, T, Shift-R, Shift-T
Dodge is Shift
For those of you that use 1-5 as keybinds… How do you hit them??? With your middle finger?
I make PvP & WvW videos
I kept the default of 1-5 for weapon skills. Heal on Q. I have a mouse button act as a shift, so my utilities are Shift+1, Shift+2, Shift+3 using the mouse. Elite is T so I don’t accidentally click it. Dodge is clicking the mouse scroll wheel as a button. I’m still considering what to do about strafing, but it’s not much of a priority for me.
Probably not the most efficient setup, but GW2 is the first MMO I’ve ever played that I played with the keybindings to not need to click my skills… so my keybinding noobiness is dangling out for the world to see.

I have a Razer Naga, so I have 13 buttons at the touch of my thumb. Here goes:
1-0 on thumb pad for skill bar.
12- Weapon Swap.
Wheel click -F1
1st middle button – F2
2nd middle button – F3
13- F4
Ctrl+1 – F5
Ctrl+2 – Special Action
Ctrl+5 – About Face
Ctrl+8 – Look Behind.
Plus the standard autorun ‘r’ and ‘v’ to dodge yada yada.
^Aren’t those default? If not, then I amend my former statement to say: I have those, as well.
Are they? I could have sworn I changed them myself. Maybe I’m going nuts in my middle age.

Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
So I use a corsair m95 (which, in my opinion is the best gaming mouse ever designed)
I’ve kept ctrl and alt as thumb buttons for years for work (I do 3d graphics work for a living) so I naturally bound those ony my thumb on my gaming mouse as well, since using my fingers to hit ctrl and alt is alien to me, and a 20 dollar logitech mouse with nothing more than those 2 thumb keys is IMO just mandatory equipment for anybody that works at a computer.
I rebound the more esoteric interface keys (M, I, scroll lock as my push to talk key for teamspeak,and so on) to the tougher to reach spots on the thumb pad, and “P” as my dodge key for the bug giant one in the middle.
For gaming I always try and find a keyboard with multiple thumb buttons. previously I used the zboard merc, IMO the greatest gaming board ever designed. Steelseries acquired that design with zboard’s stupid modular design and all the other stuff when they bought them and produced a pricer version with lights in it. Sadly, they discontinued that design as apperantly all gaming boards must now be designed around boring 108 key layouts to be “tournament legal” or something now.
Faced with the conundrum of continuing to use my preferred board, at ludicrous out of production prices on ebay, or adjusting back to a standard layout, I decided to say goodbye to the merc’s awesome design, but refused to part with the convenience of having more than one key avaliable for my thumb.
So, I replaced it with a (frankly overpriced) Razer Anansi, which doesn’t have that sweet gaming surface layout with the giant WASD, but does have a pretty OK thumb button layout.
Thus, my binds look like:
weapon: 1,2,3,4,r
Util: ctrl1,2,3,4,r (ctrl is on mouse thumb)
Weapon switch: alt (alt is on mouse thumb)
Dodge: P (bound to the biggest/resting thum button on the Corsair m95)
profession skills: q-e-f-g
interact: ctrl-f
Special action: Z
Stow: x
Walk/run: v
Jump: space
Show nameplates: c (next to spacebar on keyboard thumb on the razer anansi)

S – Backward
D – Strafe rightMiddle mouse – dodge
CTRL+F – Weapon swap
1 to 5 – weapon skills
CTRL+1 to 5 – Heal, utilities and elite
ALT+1 to 5 – Profession skillsQ – Toggle snap ground target
E – About faceMy modifiers are bound to mouse side buttons, so I don’t have to reach the keyboard ones.
Too lazy to type it out again.
I hit the 1-5 keys with my ring finger typically.
(edited by Ubik.8315)
I don’t really bind much. I have strafe left and strafe right on my side mouse buttons. I use x for dive under water. My G2 (next to my tab key) is bound to f5 so I can quickly hit it with my pinky. I’ve never rebound 6-0 just due to muscle memory.
I use WQES for main movement with A and D being mapped to turns but never used. I attached special keycaps to the previously mentioned keys and R so I never get them mixed up when I place my hand on the keyboard without looking. 1-5 is default with 6 being Special Action. Z is Target Call, J is Action Camera.
I also use a Razer Naga with side buttons assigned as follows:
1-5 = F1-F5
6 = Heal
7 = Dodge
8 = Stow/Draw Weapons
9 = Elite Skill
10-12 = Utility 1-3
Mouse 4 = Weapon Swap
Mouse 5 = Auto-run
Everything else is default or not important enough to mention.
EDIT: My Keyboard is a Corsair Strafe (Brown)
(edited by SirServed.5693)
Q – Strafe left
W – go forwards
S- go backwards
E – Strafe right
1-5 weapon skills
F1-F4 default profesion mechanics
A – F5 mechanic
D – 3rd utility slot
X – heal
C – 1st utility slot
V – 2nd utility slot
Y – elite skill (Z on english keyboards)
< – special action
^ – weaponswap
ALT – AoE loot
Space – jump
I kind of stuffed everthing in the left side of my keyboard.
I use a gamingmouse but haven’t bound any key on it for some reasons.
And don’t ask me how i manage to use weaponskills, mechanics and my movementkeys. I don’t really know :S It just happens.
I run a rather unique setup where I only use the right side of my keyboard along with my fairly basic 5-button mouse. During normal gameplay I’ll have my right hand on my mouse and my left hand on the right hand side of the keyboard, and I don’t really need to move my hands at all from those positions. Only to type in chat.
All my important keys are set up to the NumPad, arrow keys, and the 6 “command” keys (Ins/Home/End/Del/PageUp/PageDown). And a few on the far left side of the normal keyboard area.
Specifically, its…
Arrow Keys – Movement
1-9 = The normal attack / utilities assigned to those numbers
0 = Jump
Num* = Elite
/ = Weapon Swap
. = Dodge (mainly because its right next to 0 / Jump and makes it easy to dodge-jump)
- = Special Action
+ = Take Target
NumPad Enter = Auto-Run Toggle
Ins – Profession 1
Home – Profession 2
Del – Profession 3
End – Profession 4
PageUp – Profession 5
PageDown – Stow Weapon
Shift = Loot / Interact
] = Run / Walk Toggle
Mouse Wheel Button = Nearest Target

Oh boy I have a lot changed so I don’t know where to start lol….
W = Auto Run
A = Strafe Left
D = Strafe Right
S = Walk Back/Stop walking on a quick tap.
Caps Lock = Nearest Target – I have Sharpkeys2 installed and set to work as Right Shift so no annoying caps ever.
E = Next Target
Q – Skill 1
Tab = Heal
R = Engi Elite Toolbelt SKill
C – Auto loot (only needed in WvW)
X = Look behind (helps a lot in WvW & PvP)
Z = About turn 180 degree turn.
~ = Change Weapon
Insert = Stow Weapon
Home = Open Map
Page Up = Toggle Walk (for roleplay during those slow escort events)
F1 = Engi Toolbelt Heal/Ranger pet attack etc
F2 = Engi Toolbelt Utility 1
F3 = Toolbelt Utility 2
F4 = Toolbelt Utility 3
F5 = Open Inventory
F6 = Open Hero Page
F7 = Open Pet Panel
F8 = I forget lol.
F9 = Open Char Select
Up Arrow = Glide Forward
Mouse Wheel Click = Dodge
Mouse 1 (left side of mouse) = Utility 1
Mouse 2 =( left side of mouse 2) Utility 2
Mouse 3 = (right side of mouse) Utility 3
Mouse 4 = (right side of mouse 2) Elite
Mouse 5 = (just south of mouse wheel) Toggle Action Cam
Mouse 6 = (just south of the button south of the wheel lol) I can’t change this action but it gives me the option to cycle through 2 more mouse button changes so I can turn those buttons into a possible other 10 more actions. This may come in use in the future but I try not to mess with it.
And I think that’s it lol, a lot more than I have for GW but pretty similar. I wanted it to be similar to GW so I could switch between the 2 and not be too confused. However there I have Spacebar for attack. Which of course is jump here so that takes some getting used to….
I will probably change my “C” for this new pop up skill. But probably not until I finally unlock Auto Loot in WvW lol…
Prety much default for me
1-5 weapon skills
I do change my utilities to be: Q-E-R-F
Heal is mouse back button.
I have sausage fingers, so I use AEGD for moving around.
QWRTF weapon set, S heal, CVB utulities, H (and mouse button) dodge, mouse button (I have only 2 buttons under thumb) for elite skill, Z interaction, 12345 profession skills.
middle mouse or ` for weapon swap.
I have a generic keyboard and mouse.
1-5 remains the same.
(f1)Z, (f2), alt+q, (f3) alt+e, (F4) Shift +q. (f5) shift +e
(heal) g, (utility 1) R, (utility 2) C, (utility 3) shift +r, (elite) shift +f
(weapon swap) click in the mouse button 3/wheel.
I use a Naga Hex and Deck Ice 82 (an 82-key keyboard). The Hex has six side buttons – I can’t find a full MMO mouse that is comfortable for me to use.
I still dodge with double tapping keys. Skills 6, 7, 8, 9, and 0 map to 1, 2, 3, 6, 5 on the Naga Hex. Weapon swap is on the tilda key, which is straight down from the W and next to the Spaacebar on a tenkeyless. 4 on the Naga hex is my push-to-talk key. Those are the only maps I can think of.
E-2-3-4-R-X-C-altC-Z-altZ for weapon/utility/elite
L for action camera, although I might rebind this to MMB
~ for weapon swap
LShift or double-tap for dodge
I use a cheapo wireless KB+M combo for my PC and a basic 2 button with scrollwheel mouse for my laptop.
Working on: Engineer
Mostly stock with a few tweaks.
5-button Logitech mouse
W = forward
A = strafe left
S = back
D = strafe right
Q = heal
E = elite
1-5 = weapon skills
Z, X, C = utilities
V = dodge
F1-F5 = profession
~ = weapon swap
M3 (scroll wheel click) = stow weapon
M4 (rear side-button) = run toggle
M5 (front side button) = target nearest enemy
R = about face
F = interact
T = target target
CTRL-T = assign target
Space = jump
I really should map something reasonable to “look behind”.
I have a Logitch G400 mouse with 5 extra buttons. I have dodge and jump on the ones on the side, and auto-run, F and action camera on the ones down the middle.
Keyboard is a bit more complicated. I’m left-handed so I moved all the ‘combat’ keys to the number pad. I have weapon and utility skills on 1-9, heal on 0 (it’s twice the size of the others so I think of it as my ‘panic button’). Then I have next target on . ‘take target’ on enter, weapon swap on + and F1-4 along the top row. (F5 is on Page down). Then I use the arrow keys to move and right ctrl to jump.
Everything else I think is still the default. But I also bound ‘stow weapon’ to C.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Some of these are defaults, some are my choices based on inherited reflexes from other games.
1-0 and F1-F5, default.
~ , default (weapon swap)
- , autorun
= , walk/run toggle
F11, UI toggle (it’s near PrtScrn for screenshots)
Q, special action (was action camera, which I’ve now unbound as I never use it anyway)
WASD retain their moves, but so do the arrow keys and I’ve bound my NAGA HEX buttons 4,5,6 to strafe left, back up, strafe right, and use LMB+RMB to go forward, mouse to steer).
ctrl-S , swap between snap to target and free ground targeting
T, acquire target (ctrl-T to set targe)
Y, friends/LFG
U, sheath/draw weapon
I, Inventory
O, TP
F, default interact, along with J, autoloot (not used now, I have Pact mastery)
G, Guild
H, Hero Panel
K, default ranger pet control
L, options menu
C, mail
V, flip direction
B, dodge
N, open WvW panel (when in pve, to check current gather bonus) or PvP panel (to see scores in Activities)
M, map
Space, jump
I know I have something set to next friendly target, F8 I think, to help with stacked buff banners. I also have stuff bound to my HEX side buttons 1-3 but my thumb doesn’t naturally go to those so I don’t use them.
I’m running out of keyboard real estate as I really loathe combo-key presses. They are harder to do quickly and accurately in combat and they hurt my hand pretty fast. (This is one reason I didn’t stick with BDO past the free trial, combat was much less effective if you didn’t press multiple keys at once).
I know some people like the WASD setup for movement keys.
For myself, I prefer the ESDF method. Shifting the movement keys to the right opens up QAW for easy finger reach to abilities.
My personal preference is to use ESDF for movement, and then hotkey A to dodge. G is my #1 ability, with WR as my #2 and #3, Q as my #4 and H as my #5. SHIFT is still interact with stuff, and TAB still target selects. V is my heal ability, and the rest of my combat abilities go down on ZXCB.
Currently weapon swap is ~
But I don’t really like it there and I’m thinking of moving it. Maybe to T.
Moving my hand to the right on the keyboard just opened up a lot more functionality options and easy access keys on the keyboard. I got used to it playing WoW, and decided to keep the habit in this game.
using 1-5 for weapon attacks, and shift+1-5 for utility skills
f1-f5 for extra bar.
v for dodge (no double tap)
§ for swap
middle mouse as special key
< for voice in communication programs
I use default. Except I modified during SAB
A – dodge and D – jump . I am happy with it ever since.
Regular WASD for movement and ^1234567890. Toggle between walking and running I changed to “.” and “n” for stowing weapons, because I use them a lot.
In addition I use a madcatz RAT 5 – technically a shooter mouse. The changeable weights and the size adjustments improve handling a lot. I have ONLY three additional keys at my thumb, which I use for “^” weaponchange, F1 toolbelt healskill (engineer) and elite skill. After they added the 11th skillbutton, I’ve put that on my mousewheel. Works fine. The thumb-wheel I set up for dodging, but as I do not play shooters, I usually hit it by accident which causes me to die in 100% of all cases >_>. I gonna deactivate it again.
I like that mouse more than those extreme MMO designed mice with hundrets of additional buttons for the thumb. I have kinda big hands, so I’m fine with my three additional buttons only ^^.
I am lefty so all the binds are different.
honestly I juse the number keyboard for it all. So like 7 is elite, 2, 3 4 are my weapon skills. movement is on the arrow keys under the num pad.
Works great for a lefty. Sucks when my daughter logs in and is a right lol
I think I’ve stuck to the default mostly, but I’ve rebound the utility skills to Shift+1-5. My mouse has two side buttons. I bound one to Toggle Action Camera, and the other to Special Action.
Razer naga 2014
1-12 as they are.
Alt+1-5 for F1-F5 actions.
Left wheel click for dodge,center for autorun, right wheel for interact.
Mouse button 4 & 5 switch target/closest target.
Mainly those. All others default.
With this setup i barely touching keyboard except typing/moving.
There are times that i can play with one hand lol
