Hello,
So I decided to play Guild Wars 2. But Im not sure if I should use Combat Mode 1.1 or not. I’ve read that it gives you a disadvantages and Im just wondering if thats really true.

I would prefer to play with Combat Mode since I dont really like point and click combat, but if it would give a significant disadvantage I guess I would just bare with the point and click combat.

So my question again in short is: Does Combat Mode 1.1 give any significant disadvantages over players who are not using it? (PvP, PvE, WvWvW)

Thanks, and I apologize for my English if I made any mistakes

I only took a brief look at it a while ago but from what I remember it wouldn’t be very good in an AoE heavy setup(or basically anything that requires ground targetting).

Also anything giving an advantage (especially in sPvP) is a bannable offense …

Ground targeting is harder, so bear that in mind if you’re playing a build with a lot of ground targeted abilities.

For accuracy, need to quickly toggle off, cast ground targeted power, then toggle back on again. I use two keys for this, one to toggle off only, another to toggle on and off – I find I need two keys to manage it fast during combat, otherwise I struggle.

The good thing is you know your cursor will always be in the centre of the screen to start with, so moving it to the targeting location is a bit easier.

Also, 180* about face doesn’t work with it active, so need to about face manually using the mouse – another challenge.

Edit: Oh yeah, charge up powers don’t charge fully if bound to left/right click. Doesn’t affect what I play fortunately.

I use this cursor overlay program described in this thread. The program doesn’t lock the cursor in fix position like other cursor mods. What it does is just painted a border cursor on top of the regular cursor which Anet lost track of their cursor during movements. When Anet’s cursor got lost in the wilderness, you still see the black cursor is still where the original cursor supposed to be.

People are too serious of their knowledge.
