So, got an Ascended Chest, a Mathilde´s Chest, from Tequatl today. Required about 40 Tequatl runs, dropped from an orange dragon chest. I would be all joy and smile, but…

…my characters are Elementalist and Warrior. I don´t think I have patience to go leveling a 3rd character to lvl80 just to get this into action. But, I would ask for advice here, what to do with the chest, what to choose from it?

Mathilde´s ascended weapons have dire stats:
- toughness
- vitality
- condition damage

For elementalist, there isn´t really that much condition damage skills that would be in use all the time. I rarely use earth unless I´m alone and need to kite the enemy a lot. I basicly use double daggers for PvE, 90% with air to make AoE damage. Water for heal and fire for might stacking. I use staff for world bosses, and use frostbow and fiery greatsword skills against them.

With warrior I´m still leveling up towards lvl80, I hate running all those waypoints open again so haven´t been busy with it, really. I´m all open to weapon suggestions, so far I have liked the greatsword a lot. Warrior stacks some bleeding with rifles and some other weapons, but I can hardly think Mathilde´s ascended would be the best one for warrior in any case, really, no power bonuses at all, just tanking and condition. A shield, perhaps? Used with exotic mace or axe?

Too bad it is account bound, I think I would have gave or sold it to someone else if it was possible

But the last question, the wild card… IF you would create a new character for this one, to create condition damage big time, which one would it be?

It depends if you do WvW of PVE. If you only do PVE you can just transmute it since conditions are worthless

Sorry to say, its pretty useless, but you may as well put it into the bank and hold onto it in case you ever need it.

The Dire stat is used mostly by the super-rare condition rangers and the not-so-rare condition sword-warriors.

Other classes don’t synergise well with it. Necros use Rabid. Pretty much no other class should attempt to use condition damage in PvE, they won’t have enough condition procs available via skills to compete with their direct damage option.

I’d stick it on my Harpoon Gun for my Ranger.

Ok, I think I´ll check that sword use first, and if it fits my play style (you can´t teach an old dog…) I´ll give it a good home. I do 99% PvE, some WvWvW for empyreal fragments, but mostly just grinding PvE for my upcoming Zojja daggers. Got my 1st vision crystal almost ready.

That transmutation option made me laugh, it would be something to tell about, “Ye I got an ascended once, got em all the time and dunno what to do all of them, so I just use them for transmutation…” But I so agree that this ascended chest may be one of the most useless one to get. What a shame, but, need to do Tequatl more then, it is one of the most interesting boss fights in this game so I´ll enjoy it

Warrior dual Sw and longbow for wvw usage? toughness and vit works well in wvw and with the condis that the warrior can do… might be a good adition. Or with the elementalist just to round out the specs you have…?

I got an Asc. chest drop with similar craptastic stats and I didn’t even take a second thought at just transmuting the ‘pretty skin’ to an exotic staff that my Ele was using. Matches her armor so nice, and with the stats on the Asc. chest I really didn’t lose any damage by transmuting it to an exotic. If the skin matches your color scheme and looks good, I’d say just transmute it. Much better to enjoy the skin than try to make some use out of those stats if it’s not really your playstyle. Nothing currently. Use it for the skin – Condition Damage as the major means it’s the Orange & Black skin.
