Great game lets make it better! Can I help? Payment in food and gems is OK!

Here’s what I’d do. I’ll number them so people can agree/disagree by referring to the #

1. I want to make rank progress to 1000 with new title every 20 ranks (see below)

2. I want to change the “play now” button to say hot join with clear label so newbies know its not regular pvp. (newbies click play now and thinks its pvp and decide they dont like pvp)

3. I want to make an option to save a build to switch to it anytime with click of a button

4. I want to make asuras weapons bigger to see the animations (and they can show off their swag)

5. I want to make friend clones and pets see-through so my giant norn mesmer teammate doesn’t block me from seeing anything

6. I want to make a new stat resilience that mitigates cond dmg like toughness does vs power and change condi clears to remove X stacks not entire condis.

7. I want to give an option to set priority tree of condis that clears will remove first.

8. I want to remove the glass panels from skyhammer

9. I want to make mmr go by class not account but no more can you relog a new class when a match starts. You could log off and back onto the same toon to tweak your build before timer is up though.

10. I want to make make soloq matching take into account class compositions

I want to look into the possibility of making soloq 5 matches to 100, rebalancing teams each match based on what their new MMR would be, and afterwards individual MMRs change based on personal record within the 5 matches. I’d rework map mechanics as necessary so lord/boss are less points, stillness spawns match 3 and tranquility spawns match 5, etc.

12. I want to rework stealth. Remove revealed debuff, reduce all durations by 50%, allow it to contribute to point capture, damage takes you out of stealth, gain aegis while in stealth, and its now a boon affected by duration and skills. Pros are you can use it more often due to revealed, you get aegis in stealth, you can capture and hold points in stealth, you can up your duration (and copy to allies if mesmer) by boon duration. Cons are its shorter and direct damage can take you out of it (aegis gives you 1 free hit though).

13. I want to give option to say “screw your amulet I’m going to assign 1,850 or whatever points myself to my stats manually.” Power/prec/crit/cond are offense and tough/vita/heal/resilience are defense. Cannot put more than 800 in any one stat, must put at least 500 towards offense and 500 towards defense.

14. I want to add a training area to the mists. (see below)

15. I want to revise the rally mechanic (this goes for wvw too) so that in order to rally from an enemy or NPC death, you must have dealt at least 15% damage (compared to their HP) in the last 30 seconds. No more than 2 players can rally (decided based on most HP % dealt

120 = brown dragon
140 = green dragon
160 = white dragon
180 = golden dragon

**Same colors apply for each 100 ranks going forward

Training Area challenges

Dodge challenge

This is to train people not to dodge randomly. You have no weapon skills or utilities. You have infinite endurance. An NPC starts firing at you and you must dodge its attacks. As the challenge progresses, the NPC slowly moves closer to you, and it’s animations become less and less noticeable, and it’s projectile velocity increases. The NPC does not fire consistently, it is randomized timing. The catch is, if you dodge-roll and do NOT dodge an attack, you’re done. It never ends (eventually the NPC has almost 0 cast time and super-fast velocity so you will eventually get hit and it’s over) Your high score is how many times you dodged successfully. There will be a high score leaderboard as well.

Survival challenge

This is to train people to defend. You stand on a point and must hold it from being decapped. 2 NPC’s start attacking you. One does direct damage the other applies conditions as well as direct damage. The NPC’s stats continuously get higher and higher and higher. Your job is to stay alive and hold the point as long as you possibly can. If the point is decapped or you die, it’s over. Your high score is how long you held the point. There will be a high score leaderboard as well.

Combat challenge

This is to train people in managing their cooldowns and general combat rotations. You are in a small arena. You fight 20 consecutive bosses, each tougher than the last. As soon as one is dead, the next one appears and you do not regain any cooldowns or health. The bosses are class-based and their animations are identical to player animations. It is very difficult (but possible) to kill all 20 bosses. The final boss alone is hard to 1v1 for any class, let alone being not full health and CDs. Your high score is your time, which adds a 5 minute penalty for each boss you did not kill.

A lot of you suggestions seems to be more of a personal preference versus what the developers want for their game aka useless rank, while another bunch of them are things they are coming to the game down the line aka build saving.

Others like 13 leads to more trouble than ever before. others like 10. are only an issue because Arenanet couldn’t balance a chair on a flat surface if they tried.

priority for condition clearing defeats the purpose of covering conditions, the problem seems to be how easy conditions are spammed so why not do something about that instead.

The only reasonable sane suggestions are 4, 5, 8,9,12, 15 (but only 1 per rally and if multiple people are hiting the highest damage overrall during the fight and down gets the rez).

Keep stealth moves, but remove cut movement bonus to -50% of the normal combat speed but include a trait that reduces it to normal combat speed but put in in one of those defensive lines. Or don’t cut movement speed but any damage dealt breaks out of stealth and you cannot be under it for more than 7 seconds.

some are personal preference of the actual solution, but all are things that many agree that need changing. I also feel my personal preference is very much in line with the majority of people who play PvP more than any other game mode.

I ask for those reading to really think about how the changes would affect the game not immediately, but in the aftermath.

If all they implemented was #1, I’d be happy. Stopping the ranks at 80 is a really dumb idea. At least there is still some time. Hopefully ANET has seen the 50 threads on this topic and will adjust before the 15th.

You misunderstood my comment about #3, Evan has already said that the current system is simply a stepping stone for what you are asking.

no.2 just seems so needless and pointless. The ones that don’t know the difference between hotjoin and solo/teamQ probably shouldn’t be in solo/teamQ in the first place, so the name doesn’t really mean much.

no.13 is just a recipe for disaster in terms of more in balance. Just imagine some of the PvE amulet making it into PvP and there is very little Anet can do to balance those things.

no.1 The whole point of rank was to act like levels, adding infinite levels really doesn’t add anything considering the benefits stop at 80. Since rank means almost nothing, personally more resources should be spent on more important things. And assuming it is added, they will have to add more benefits because inevitably people will start making QQ thread as usual demanding something that means nothing.

TL;DR

I don’t remember explicitly using insane but if I did it should only apply to #13.

I would like to be able to select a weapon type, armor type and amulet type so I have some build diversity.

I would like combat to consist of more than dodging big circles on points and spraying my own circles at people.

Fix these 2 things and pvp will be quite a bit better.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional

first of all i doubt thies is the right place to ask for a job …

1. I do really like the idea of unlocking all skins in the game after playing a ton pvp however i would do something to exclude skyhammer farmers or hotjoin in general from this thing
and keep the ranks at 80
make something like “legendary champion of the mists” for 10.000 Tournament wins
or something more complex like for 10k tournament wins u get some title and to get the legendary mist champion you do also need at least 1 legendary and some more pvp probly also some wvw stuff

rank points however should not be the way to go (i think)

2. I’d like this one waiting for this for quite some time especially since this isnt that difficult (i imagine)
im in quite a big guild and have to explain it sooo often that hotjoin is not really compettetive pvp… xD

3. The easier the builds get the easier it should bekome to make it happen so lets hope theyre already working on it (i loved it in gw1 it would me soo happy)

4. Not needed

5. A option that allowes you if enabled to see through allied clones would be nice it would also help newer players not to res the wrong one^^

6. I think this would force a rebalance of pretty much everything related to conditions so…meh on the other hand i have heard something about they want to remake condis anyway so that condi dmg would be a viable option against tequatl etc
if they will remake condis it is still questionable if their idea cooperates with yours so… without someone already working on it there are tooo many ifs to say anything clear

7. That would make stacking tons of different condis useless (condition overload)
so less variety in gameplay of a condi class
also it would be REAAALLLY complex to rate the different condis due to duration intensity (6bleeding for 12secs + 3bleeding for 5 for example) and condis from different enemies so they tick with different itnensity.
so even if anet would allow us such a thing
players would need HOURS to set all thing till they finally can play effectively.
i do like complexity but that is too much xD

8. I like the glass panels in skyhammer however skyhammer in soloq is a thing that i would probably remove

9. I like the idea because you could try out a new class without playingagainst the same experienced enemies without a handicap..
one could argue go hotjoin to test out a new class to learn it and once you are good enough you can go tournaments (why i doubt this will come)
but i like the general idea and would encourage players to switch classes fore frequently and ultimately try out some more things

10. Yesterday i won a soloq match with 3 thieves (i was ele… ) it was fun
as a part of soloq i want this to stay
it would work well with nr 9 but i like these awkward moments that you never get in teamq also if you need to wait till a heavy clas wants to play soloq (in your rating) it may take some time and even then he could be dps guard..
(which is fun and good but not very tanky… )

what if i jump down and it wont spawn…-.-
what if there are 3players with 2 games, 4 with 5games and 3 with 7 games? will they not be plaing together? that would increase the time you would need to wait a lot
also i think the maps are well designed and balanced alwas keep in mind that both sides can use the maps specific mechanic.. as long as it isnt too overwhelming 150 sure are a lot but you need to get to the lord through gates that can be seen as well as you hear when somethings hitting them and to kill the lord u need time time in which one team is not on the points.. or at least got less people on the points..

12. No. Too man thieves would cry up they cant be permastelath anymore
too many others would cry up they cant knock thieves that are almost perma stalth out of the point or even hit him
and without revealed debuff a thief could do way to often a first weapon stealth attack
how it is right now it is okay invisibility is neither over nor underpowered

13. This again makes hte game more complex (personally i like the general idea)
however what happens with celestial gear the whole idea is that your overall number is bigger since you have no fokus to spend on…
it would be harder to help newer players

“xpoints in condi dmg to x points to power and …y to x and stuff..”
also i do WANT nr 3 soo badly this would make the game more complex sure still possible to bring both together but with the sstem pvp gear will be like from 15.4. on its realllly easy to make a build template out of it

I do like the idea but id rather put some of them in an instance with the later this year coming megaservers the pvp lobbies will also be fused together (i think) and ive already seen guilds guesting on millersound to do some gvg/wvw zerging practise with formation and stuff and on their server were a few guilds that already practiced with the golems… xD
i dont like the idea of Leaderboards for all this stuff
however an achievement or a title for some challenging yet not impossible task would be nice like dodge 50of the Kill shots of the npc in a row
or live 5 minutes against those two npcs

15. I doubt this will come this way the current problem is that all pvelers are just all zerker
your idea to most HP% dealt would mean cleris supporter etc will not rally
while zerkers will… -.-
the cap of how man can rally is alread on 5 (i guess pls correct me if im wrong)
however i dont know what will priorised id prefer the one who lived the longest will rally up or just leave it as it is
(as long as your enemies wont rally everythings fine so make sure your allies wont fall before enemies are down stayed all over the place )

16. So every seconds 4 lines of 300bleeding 600burning 400konfusion etc?
That might be helpfull however a bit toooooo extreme #spam

What about the information once you died what did how much dmg to you
(that already is in pvp ..also ad this in wvw would allow players to see what killed them what their build lacks of like condi removes and maybe even encourages players to build a similar build in smallscale)

even if some of them dont really fit in pvp discussions…
quite some interesting ideas

Thanks for the comments! To clarify

1. Point of ongoing progression is you keep getting reward chests and new titles (recognition). Many players are losing a million+ rank points that count for nothing. This would at least provide continuous reward and recognition

2. This is a real issue that keeps PvP player base from growing

3. This doesn’t seem like something to work towards. It should be very easy to code and implement, and there are no downsides I can think of.

4-5. obviously

6-7. a more involved and drastic change that would impact the entire game. probably too late to consider anything like this. #7 by itself however could be very useful – would not necessarily be OP considering the durations/stacks can’t be factored in.

8. pleeease this would make skyhammer a soloq-worthy map. if not, leave it in hot-join only.

9/10 – replay value increase yes please.

11. would not change players – each of the 5 would be the same 10 players just swapping teams around per match – stil would spawn at start of match 3, tranq at start of match 5

12. another big change probably too late to consider but if not, worth doing so. Maybe even give stealth classes an option to choose whether they want longer duration but can’t cap and have revealed, or shorter duration and can get knocked out but can cap and no revealed and aegis on stealth.

13. The limitations on point requirements can prevent any crazy builds. Even can have it where you have to start with an amulet and you can shift points within those 3 stats, but none below the minimum level. This simply allows for some more build variety and the ability to create better counters to whatever the meta is.

14. fun times! not really PvP but can effectively train people to be better PvP’ers and give people something to do while in queue. Almost like a whole new game mode due to leaderboards. I could spend a lot of time here.

15/16 – can’t think of any good argument against these???
