So, over this weekend I’ve become sick of getting unfair matching in tournaments. Not at all times of the day can you get a full team of dedicated players for a Team Queue, so what do you do, a Solo Queue. The queue pops and you go into the match, and thanks to ArenaNet’s system it puts them into the match when the timer runs out! It’s a fair match, the door opens and you realize there is a guy in your spawn, not moving at all! The opposing group either holds 2 points a game because your team cannot equal them in fights, or they 3 cap you because your team gives up.

TL:DR – Peoples be AFK.

So, my solution that I thought of after finishing probably my 20th unfair match this weekend goes like this. If you get kicked by ArenaNet’s AFK system during a tournament match, you lose your queueing rights for one day. You may be wondering, what happens if you go to do some random chore, and forget you’re in a queue. My answer to this is, well you’ll learn to be more responsible.

i think it needs similar report system as in wow BGs

if you are afk in BG and ppl report you for afk, you get kicked if you don’t start to fight; if you got kicked from BG you get debuff which stops you from queueing for 40 min

if you got reported for afk multiple times (or botting) you might even get banned; they don’t have to necessary bann people but can bann them from doing pvp for month etc.

Legaue has kind of similar system for competitive play

It won’t completely stop people from going afk but probably reduce their numbers

You don’t take into account people who just queue up and when it pops they decide to log off because they didn’t get their desired map or whatever. What would you do about those? I’ve often been in a 4v5 or 3v5 because of people leaving the game but you can’t really tell if they disconnected or left on purpose.
You could argue that if one has a bad connection they shouldn’t queue up for a game where this can affect other people’s ratings and ranks.
The only solution I see is a 30 second timer on disconnects or afk-reports after which the game ends and everyone gets requeued except for the one who was offline or afk. This sounds fair as people wouldn’t lose ranks but it would still be annoying to get people queueing up and leaving. I’m not sure about a punishment though because as I said some people might just have a bad day with their connections or it could be a server-side as well.

If you’re in a 4v5 and losing, the game should end immediately and the game should be considered a draw.

I don’t think more excessive punishment will really fix the problem.

I don’t oppose the idea of a 10 hour queuing ban but don’t expect it to fix the problem.

People AFK because queue times are long. If I have to queue for 5 minutes don’t expect me to wait around all that time. Eventually I’ll go off doing something else, or maybe alt+tab out of the game and forget about my queue.

I can’t really blame people for that. The system just needs a way to compensate for quitter and afkers.

It should be able to draft in a replacement if 3 members of a team report someone for being afk. If that players win the match, it should count, if he loses, it should not. That should be enough encouragement to participate in forgone matches.

That, or the game doesn’t start until everyone has clicked the “I am ready” button. If someone hasn’t clicked 30 seconds before the game starts they are replaced.

A. Prevent respawn on the team with more people so that it is always XvX. The advantaged team will still have an advantage until someone dies. But if the disadvantaged team knows this they can team up for that first kill.
B. No movement in spawn area for 30 seconds gets kick from match and loss plus 30 minute debuff that prevents requeue.

This seems just logical to me.

For hotjoin, when someone picks a team they are put into a queue until another joins on the other team. If someone leaves a match, prevent respawn on the opposite team.

Who wants to get locked out of a game to sit and watch because someone else didn’t show up?

Also, how do you decide who gets locked? What if its the other teams only bunker?
