I think it would be extremely interesting to have a tournament followed by a game mode which was 8v8 where each class was represented on both sides.

Sure that would have a longer queue if you didn’t have an organized team but it would a great fight!

While it is a nice idea and it would be interesting to see, I think it would be very difficult to implement in the right way. If it created long queues, due to waiting for all professions to arrive (all of which would still need to be checked for rank to keep everyone on a supposed even level), hardly anyone would play it. Most people just want to jump straight in and have fun, and would get fed up with waiting for an all profession match.

Also I think a lot of organised groups would avoid it because they tend to like to put specific professions together because A: they’re the professions each player is best at, or/and B: the team may have got good at certain profession synergies.

Not that I think it wouldn’t be fun or interesting, I just think it would be problematic and not as welcomed as you might hope.

I like an 8v8 idea tbh.

Are you thinking maybe as just a test tournament potentially ? Could be fun to watch, could be many issues. But yea :P

If you want something like this just organize it yourself with a custom arena and ppl who want to partecipate the event, dont wait for Anet to do that cause it will hardly ever happen.
Its really long since we asked for different game modes other than point capture, and what we got recently is a map without points but nothing else to do, and its only available in custom arenas, there isnt anything behind it, just a map thrown into the game.
So if you want a different kind of game you gotta organize it yourself.

Lol, why PvE gear? Aren’t all of us PvP players looking for LESS balance-breaking and more actual skill-based fights?

PvE gear => Pay 2 Win; no thanks.

If this game had a GvG mode (no point capping, purely death matches) with PvP gear though… that would be nice.
