Yo it’s me Suññy, the one true Guardian. You might remember me as Guardian for such teams as [We Met On EHarmoney], [QT], and [SOAC Gaming – Red Team] come here today, perhaps too many years too late, to tell you about the gaming changing idea I had this afternoon.

Everyone knows how the downed state works, a lot of people would probably still agree if I were to say it should be taken out of the game. Personally, I like the downed state but it needed to be different somehow without taking the whole concept out of the picture. So I was thinking about it and quite easily came up with a solution that seems reasonable and balanced, keep in mind Stomping is my job so I have the hours of experience with it and it’s mechanics:

So my idea focuses on the mechanic itself, not the stats for Revive Regeneration or Downed State Abilities. A player is given (1) Downed State per fight. So basically, you go into a group fight and you start getting focused by the enemy team and are taken down but not stomped. Your teammates rush over to revive you and from THEN ON you no longer have a downed state, when you fall below 1% HP you are DEAD. But, listen up, if you have used up your downed state and you’ve also managed to run away or live to win the fight, all you need is to wait till you’re “out of combat” for your downed state to be RESET. Was that really so hard to think of? No. Why hadn’t I thought of this before? IDK. Does it matter anymore? Probably not.

According to Blinx, as far as he knows nobody’s even had the thought or at least told anyone about it…

I would probably disagree.

That’s a pretty good idea, though it is a bit hard to get out of combat on some maps (e.g. on the snowy map, if i’m helping out on a fight at mid then head back at home, sometimes i’ll still be in combat at home until the enemies at mid go down)

well thanks for the 2 cents, the competitive scene I know is already done n’ done so it’s not a big deal if this idea weren’t given a second thought ever again. But just to indulge, I would like to hear more of the communities thoughts. And to be clear, like ITheNormalPerson had given example to, this mechanic is intended for competitive 5v5 tPvP structure matches, not to say this idea of mechanic changes wouldn’t be game wide. What I’m tryin to say is, you can’t compare balance of this kind of change on a extremely unbalanced map in the first place, and one not in or was not in competitive match pools in the past. amiright?

No, while it is unfun when team keeps ressing and ressing downed players, that would be another step to promote tanky builds and classes and we already have only them in meta.

What I would like to see is equal (and way lower, somewhere at thief’s armour and downed ele’s hp pool) defensive stats of the downed players. That would serve the opposite puspose and will make res/stomping something else than battle of CDs.

Hi Zero,

I think you should state the motivation for your suggestion so others can sympathize how change could be beneficial and evaluate whether your solution fixes the perceived problem/s without creating any new ones.

Personally, I like the downed state but it needed to be different somehow without taking the whole concept out of the picture.

  • Why does it need to be different?
  • Why is it important to maintain the mechanics?
