The first 40 hours was fun. I find it extremely boring now, mainly due to the game mode.

How refreshing, someone saying something positive about PvP. I want to see this game succeed, and I think we all love it so much that we hate on it to make it improve.

I make positive posts about sPvP all the time, I even create threads for people to speak positively about GW2. What I dont do is delude myself and pretend to be a happy spvp fairy on the spvp forums.

I enjoy it more then tPvP. Yeah, I said it.

I’m not super competitive, I do like to do tourney once in awhile when my guildies are on. I avoid soloing tPvP because that is…..lol

sPvP turns into a zergfest sometimes, but overall I like it all. +1100 games and counting. Enjoying every minute.

I’m still having fun in sPVP and same with tPVP.
Yes, it can be better and likely will be changes to follow.

If you take a step back and look at the broad view, we as end-users are pretty demanding; wanting everything and need instant gratification.

However, I also do PVE content and WvW. A little of everything GW2 offers.

I just dont get it how they can create gw1. And then follow up with this piece of kitten called guildwars 2

I enjoy the game nearly as much as I did almost 7 months before but sPvP is not in a halfway functional state that would let mechanics shine like it should. I stopped playing after running into premades constantly making play sessions more frustrating than enjoyable like they should be. I’ll come back if an opportunity for me to have fun comes up again in the patches but I can’t be sure given the development progress.

Amazing game but still so lacking in a lot of ways. Its a shame.

Far as I can tell, the only problem is that the player base is a little smaller than everyone would prefer – it’s probably the central cause of all the skill discrepancies between players that we constantly hear about here.

game mechanics are great. population retention—not so great.

it definitely feels like a beta population…players come to test things out, but only a select few bother to invest a huge amount of time in a temporary system.

hopefully pvp “goes live” soon.

Got sick and tired of boring PvP, stuck on tiger emote, and bear emote looks boring. It’s no competitive at all, I don’t feel any sense of achievement when winning.
Nope, I’m not having a great time in PvP.

^ This is very true. I love PvP myself, but after 1-2 hours (which is nothing compared to the time invested in a single session of GW1 RA) I find myself not rewarded… :/ So I stopped.

I know I post this in every thread of the above kind. But I reaaaally want an equivalent of GW1’s Random Arena (Death Match)

Lol no im not having fun..the mmr system is crap.It takes min to get a match when i go solo and then one team has a bunch of low ranks where the rest are rank 40..
Apparently the system thinks that for example 2 rank 50s can carry 3 rank 10s against a random team of rank 40s etc..Sad
Ah did i mention that you see the same people all the time..yeah this games is totally growing

I find the gameplay very addictive and fun, but bugs frustrate me, and i feel isolated from the rest of the game – i only pvp, so when my guild wants to WvW i can’t. There are not nearly enough rewards of spvp or tpvp, feels like i’m getting a raw deal compared to PvE-ers, which is a slap in the face ’cos i bought the game as there was hype about it being e-sport status.

Having fun doesn’t mean you don’t see the problems. If people are literally not having fun when they play anymore, it’s time to find a new game or probably a new hobby. I understand the problems, but like the OP I really enjoy it when I get a chance to log in and play some tourneys.

It’s true tbh, the PvP side of this game isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t call this game GW2, instead GW 0.25.

Game engine is great and fun to play. Profession balance is atrocious.

Nope. Skill lag, 3/4v5s, dc’s, horrible class balance/FOTM issues, crappy gametypes, etc.

So no, I haven’t had fun with PvP since maybe 10 hrs after release.

Pvp is the best world of Guild wars 2. There is alot of work to be done and fixes etc… but at the moment, i am enjoying it a lot, especially with the new changes.

I only played pvp in this game since release. I loved engineer so much that the conquest mode was kind of overlooked on my part. Now every update engineer gets a significant nerf of some sort, and the November 15th patch nerf was it for me. I played here and there throughout the end of November and December, then gave it up. I still keep track on updates and seems nothing has changed. Last patch was crap, no new anything, and engineer still manages to get nerfed significantly every patch still. See you guys in 2014

You can either give him the attentions he wants or either ignore him.

i enjoy spvp but if i play too much i get aggravated at the constant stream of superspecs and frequent 1v2-8 stompings. once i notice myself getting excessively annoyed its time to take a break for a day or two. this games alot funner when you dont take it so seriously.

Hey… it was pretty sad to play guardian back in the day…. all you did was stand in point and everyone ignored you and ran away. Playing mesmer it 10x more fun you can tele your team and kitten everyone:(:(:(

sPvP is awesome in GW2. The depth of combat and the wide variety of effective strategies is just mind boggling. Anet did an excellent job managing to add such a high skill cap to gw2. I only want the fiery dragon sword to be fixed in the next patch. Apart from that gw2 is the best game I have ever played from a PvP perspective.

I actually agree with you fully. I don’t think I’ve ever been so satisfied and impressed with a new PvP system and yet so let-down at the same time.

I did the 2 month hiatus, now I’m back and relatively enjoying it again. When I want real competition, I play Smite for my leader board kitten. When I want really fun combat, I play GW2.

That is, after I stopped playing DPS guardian and switched to Mesmer and thief. Much more fun.

1k hours protecting/capping nodes without teamfights because u need to split team to keep more then 1 node.

I love it, have about 500 hour now and i love it more and more.
but i miss some good streamers.

Yes of course it is fun. There is no gear grind so I play just for enjoyment-and there is plenty to be had here. A lot of people on the forums whine about it but I wonder if part of the issue is just getting bored with the game in general. If you have too much of something it inevitably gets stale.

I know people who played GW1 feel a lot is missing compared to that game, which seems a valid complaint; but the core mechanics are great fun nevertheless.

Also look at it in comparision to other similar game formats out there: Tera-has one BG and a 3vs3 comp (both at level cap lol) and is almost completely broken; Rift-pretty good BGs until level cap and then it deteriorates into a gear-grind lowbie ganking/pre-made stomps pug kittenfest; WoW-kind of like Rift except it is gear-based throughout with some nice stopping points at the 60 and 70 bracket; WAR-again similar to WoW with the gear grind except also has interesting RvR system, but the overall quality is just uninspiring.

GW2 spvp definately beats those games for the fun factor, and is more skill based to boot. Tera had a chance to be skill based (because you have to dodge and aim with very few lock-on abilities), but it actially takes the cake for the most gear-based of all above mmos and is broken in various other ways.

Rift, WoW, WAR, and possibly SWTOR (never played it) have the upper hand only in terms of having multiple game modes, which is actually a big plus, but the downsides far outweigh that.

Basically if you like to do spvp/tpvp its GW (1 and 2?) or nothing, because the competition sucks for various reasons.

SWTOR was a ridiculous grind fest. For equivalents in GW2, imagine something like, getting to level cap, getting to rank 30, and then getting all your gear from the random loot chests you get every time you rank up which have only like a 10% chance to even drop a piece, let alone the one you need. It was terrible.

The BGs were fun as hell pre-level cap. Huttball especially was just an amazing map, but the game at level cap was probably the worst experience I have ever had in an MMO.

The only reason I bought GW2, and the only reason I still play GW2, is because of the gear/grind factor. Rift, WoW, WAR, SWTOR, ESO, Neverwinter, Tera, any MMO released in the past 10 years, they are grindfests where gear is more important than skill. I hate any sort of vertical progression system, which is why I i’m scared for the FPS genre, and why I still think SC2 is a better eSport than LoL. If you need me, i’ll go play Allied Assault or some kitten.

Ya, ToR was a huge grind fest. If you thought ranking in GW2 was bad you haven’t seen anything. Then the gear gap was huge also.

All that being said. Huttball is probably my favorite mode ever made. <3

Compared to that game, Guild Wars 2 PvP is a pile of trash. Funny thing is that it is from the same software house.

I like spvp int his game, just wish you could earn experence for each match or something, like other mmos. it wouldn’t be too hard either, could just be like a quarter bar for each match, and you’d have to have a certain score to earn it.

8/10 I almost wrote a reply which thought you were being serious about gw2 being better than gw1 in any regard other than potential graphics quality and jumping.
