I was expecting a little more. Giving us a draft of features that should have been developed in Beta, and implemented over a year ago is a step in the right direction, but I think it happened too late. I can’t even log for dailies anymore.
4v5, AFKs, and other things that can clearly be copied/solved from other games to give us an interim solution has not been done either :\
I feel like the direction of this game is going in too many directions, but with a low player base (and fading fast), regardless of how good the game is…kills it for me. You can’t ask me to wait like a dramatic girlfriend, I already have one of those
I love you GW2, but I think I am throwing in the towel.

yup.
gold via spvp is great, but it is no new content.
I am very worried that nothing was mentioned about new game modes. I can’t have 1 more year of point caping for sure. For the love of God and all things holy make at least 1 more game mode !!!
i’m much more worried about pvp rewards for sale for gold, and pvers can just buy everything from their farming
From the blog:
Of course, rewards is just one aspect of the projects we’re working on over on the PvP team. We’ll go into detail with other projects like new game types as we get closer to having those further along in production.
The projects listed in the blog are not exhaustive – we’re working on other things simultaneously. As John mentioned, we’re still working on game modes and new maps. As Justin has mentioned in another post, we’re also looking at ways to drastically improve the quality of matchmaking. This includes harsher penalties for afk players and leavers.
Yes, i feel like you. I’m compleately disapointed and raging in the forums like a panda mama who tries to protect her panda baby!
I also think about quitting the game… it would be fun, but they just skrew up to much (fractal bugs that stom you from finishing – and you receive nothing to even out the time you have invested… not even a dev saying “We are very sorry about your bad game experience” just nothing…), low ranks in soloQ messing up the matches, unbalanced professions, bunker meta with rediulous “i push you from the point – troll engi bunkers”… i could write sooo much more…
Yes, I’m disapointed!

You have to understand that it’s different from our perspective; you’re always “working” on upcoming features and content, yet it hardly turns out as advertised or gets released in a timely fashion.

I have to echo similar sentiments on this topic. We were told Ascended Armor and Precursor fixes were coming this year too. It’s December 3rd and we still don’t have official confirmation on those things actually making it into the game this year.
I don’t care if they make it or not. I care that if you guys know something is NOT going to make it in that you tell us that it isn’t in a timely fashion. I am tired of hearing about this and that is going to be in the game and then when the update hits and certain features that were discussed as going to be “in” then don’t make it.

“Anyone else disappointed?” Meh not really. I think of everything at this point to be an extended beta with no whipes (other than rankings and such)
The game is still being designed, and that’s a good thing. I do wish more resources and attention was given sooner to PvP. “Ready up” alone as an example will slowly start to solve long standing issues.
Yeah a year is a bit late, but just think of it as extra practice before the real game.
That all being said, any “Pro gaming” and “eSports” pushes were all very very premature, and the game needed to let the dust settle and develop more before that stuff. I hope the future is more actual development.

I am very disappointed. After waiting months for this blog nothing in it promotes the competitive side of pvp. Team queue is as good as dead and the solo q population is not great either.
Four daily achievement points, gold in hotjoin, xp through pvp – I really couldn’t care less about these things. At the very least all these rewards should be exclusively earned through tournament wins.
The game really shines in team queue, when the population is healthy. I can’t understand why there is not more emphasis on promoting teams and rewarding players for doing well in team queue.
The only people who comment positively on the blog start with “I am not really a pvp player but I love…” Well, as a tournament player I am not thrilled to have to wait another year for seasons/leagues.
And yes, this blog made me think of quitting.
I was disappointed before, but now I’m pretty thrilled. They seem to have identified that they need to completely overhaul the PvP aspect of the game, and are taking steps to do so. That in and of itself is remarkable. Sure, from a player perspective we all think it could have been done long ago, or in different ways. But from a design and development perspective, it’s gotta be so incredibly difficult to look at your creation and take the risk. I’m totally enthused by their decision to do so, not just for PvP, but for GW2 as a whole. By integrating PvP into the PvE game the way they’ve discussed, this could be the start of some amazing changes to a previously stunted portion of GW2! What’s not to love.

come on people really, the devs are being as transparent as possible. Please be kind. I am disappointed that i wont be able to level to get the dragon finisher(although it would probably take me years lol). It is great that changes are coming, and i am excited that i can do something with my excessive amount of glory, and like 100 tourny chest. Seasons and ladders sounds like the right direction, wvw season has indeed been quite epic. Guild Wars 2 is a great game, and will please us fully in time.
I don’t think you all understand how much this team actually works with the players and is actually truly working on bettering the pvp system. I don’t know how many games I’ve gone through trying to find good pvp and if it isn’t than maybe some new content in the future but it never happens. I think it’s awesome that this team actually responds on the forums personally not to mention is actually doing something about the issues. I mean take Neverwinter as one example out of a million. Their pvp is simply just 2 maps with domination and I haven’t seen one thing explained from any dev about pvp changes. If you can find a better game that is actually looking at implementing some new features, gametypes, and maps as well as fixing things that we have brought up that then please tell me. Cause in the last year I’ve gone through like 8 different games trying to find one until I came here and pvp is one of their big features that they’re trying to make one of their core features. I’m so tired of domination being the only gametype on every mmorpg I try with only 1 or 2 maps with no intention on going any further. This game has pvp rooted into its system and actually does have more than one gametype (WvW). Not to mention they’re actually planning on putting in more which I’m stoked for. Not to mention making a ladder system so that people actually want to be competitive again and all the other features they mentioned. Are there areas that may need a better description and/or maybe some tweaking? Yes. But that’s what we’re here for because they’re actually listening to us. Just give them your advice in a more professional manner imo. Put bullet points and go into detail without saying "omg, this game is ruined now wtf, I’m out. No Ranks! "

Very glad to hear it. And I really appreciate the fantastic responsiveness of the PvP team.

And all these things are so far away that no details are discussed.
In addition, the few changes we have could have been coded in two weeks by one person. That’s not an exaggeration either. Lets look at what we actually got details about.
And that’s all we get. You guys on the forums are great, but it sure doesn’t feel like anything is happening in pvp. It just feels like we’re getting another “just wait for the next blog post!” response. Honestly, those only work if your blogs cover real changes. We just got high level stuff that can’t be elaborated on (which has been mentioned for the last year) along with extremely small (at least from an implementation perspective) changes to pvp. It really does feel like pvp has a single guy coding.

- Added an existing item to a vendor. That should take an hour tops for an experienced dev.
- Gold was added as a match reward. I don’t know your interface for pvp match rewards, but I can’t see this taking more than a few days. It’s exactly the same process as adding glory to our account.
- New skills to the game. Done by a different team. PvP team used the existing system for player acquisition. A few days tops.
- 4 new daily achievements! Disregarding how worthless the AP account bonus is for pvp, you have so many new APs for living world that this can’t be hard to change. I don’t think this should take more than a couple days.

These changes may or may not be easy to implement depending on their structure, but there’s an entire process and their implications to consider before putting in these changes. They can’t just have a random dev put in whatever changes whenever they want. This isn’t the same as developing a random phone or web app for less than a hundred users.

It’s like 30g+ for 10 bucks so it shouldn’t be to big a deal unless they are going super gold sync with this and want it to be crafting level expensive then better hope to God each individual match pays well.
But presuming A-net has some sense I’m sure it’ll be more glory related, even if gold is a factor. “hint hint”
I’m hoping it’s like 10-20k glory and 50s-1g per level. Most of us would have plenty of glory maybe force a few players to go CoF once per day for a quick level but if your really deep into PvP and don’t even dabble in PvE it wont really matter.
and it’ll still be enough to keep the super casual or hard core PvErs from insta 80ing their alts.
As someone who threw in the towel many months ago. I can say that the features they are just now getting around to in this blog is pretty much stuff that was expected needed at launch or short after, and it is a bit discouraging to see it only now getting worked on. However.
The game IS moving in the right direction. It is finally taking responsibility and solving current issues and seems they are not holding back or tip toeing around too many of the issues.
I think these are all good ideas to lay the foundation for the new game modes. You don’t want to release an awesome game mode that may bring back a crap ton of players, and still have the same shotty system. So these changes are important.
But yea, I wanna hear more about new game modes. Because they can pretty up this pig all they want, the core of why SPVP is not popular or successful, is because the game mode they went with (and stuck with for FAR too long imo) gets old fast…and generally is not innovative or fun. The COMBAT is fun, the game mode is boring. I’d point out that the capture the point/ticket system mode in most other games….is usually the least played mode. SO weird they chose it as their sole mode and primary focus…as almost any research would show that it only appeals to a minority.
I was actually quite thrilled after I read the post about new PvP features and how I’ll be able to take gear to PvE from PvP, as well as grant myself levels from PvP’ing. This was one thing that bugged me about PvP. I wanted to have my time spent in the mists actually be dragged over into the PvE realm in some form or another to make it feel a little more connected.
Mind you all, I really like how there’s a definite disconnect in this game between PvP and PvE to ensure that one doesn’t effect the other in bad ways, because I’ve played games where that scenario does in fact happen, and very often. cough WoW cough. Sorry, been feeling under the weather lately. Seeing my efforts in PvP effect my character in the PvE realm makes me very happy and is making me come back to the game. Thank you devs!
I truly dont care about that PvE fluff like being able to lvl a char through pvp, its not like i’ll be doing anything in pve with it anyhow. But on the count of getting more people trying pvp, maybe some of those gold hungry WvW’ers where there could be some great players walking around for all you know, and since it seems people need to feel rewarded through the whole game for every little thing these days, it should be good to get more players in and alleviate queue times at least somewhat.
Hopefully resulting in more nabs fighting eachother and leaving you to climb up, if nothing else.

Wow dude you have a very simple, entitled view of things. Adding a new currency (yes, new for this gamemode) that needs to be balanced with WvW Gold and PvE Gold to ensure people dont just go to the most profitable side again takes more than just coding. If you dont think this requires a little more research you are daft.
Hell even about skills you’re sitting here saying they could be implemented in a couple days. Clearly we should just toss in any skill without trying to balance them a little first right? Couple days tops!! lmao
Awaiting your auto-balance code.

What about the penalties for those Skyhammer glory farmers? I remember when Allie said you guys were going to do something to them.
The game is still being designed
No.
The game is being mildly tweaked.
Being designed means there are patches that actually address core mechanics/goals and just in general how the game functions.
There hasn’t been a single one of those.
Mild tweaks and revamps of skills at best, you see more ‘re-design’ in LoL patches.
That’s one of the biggest issues, if Anet was seriously playing around with that, they were working on those core mechanics and whatnot like it was still beta… I would be exstatic, that would be god-kitten wonderful, they realize there are large blaring issues and are tossing out changes in a timely manner for the playerbase to test out…
I.
Would.
Love.
Them.
But that’s quite literally the furthest thing from what they are doing.

If it’s “on the horizon” its not worth mentioning.
The games going to be long dead by the time that ever comes.
(they’re still working on hyped “on the horizons” from beta!!!)
I was expecting a little more. Giving us a draft of features that should have been developed in Beta, and implemented over a year ago is a step in the right direction, but I think it happened too late. I can’t even log for dailies anymore.
4v5, AFKs, and other things that can clearly be copied/slolved from other games to give us an interim solution has not been done either :\
I feel like the direction of this game is going in too many directions, but with a low player base (and fading fast), regardless of how good the game is…kills it for me. You can’t ask me to wait like a dramatic girlfriend, I already have one of those
I love you GW2, but I think I am throwing in the towel.
Two words in that blog post would have made me excited about PvP: 2 weeks
If they said they were changing their development model to push out small changes every two weeks, I would have jumped for joy.

Meh.
Same mindset, same devs.
If it’s just small changes, things would end up being less thought out and more buggy.
I doubt that’s what you seriously want.
Not disappointed here.
I was expecting then to come out with very little improvements and on a long implementation time.
so yah… I’ll stick with SWTOR until the next decent mmo comes out.

It is, because even if it is buggy, I’d see a fix for the bug in two weeks instead of seeing a fix for the bug in 4 months, which is the current state of things. Hell, there are still talents and skills that have been broken since BETA!
Yes, I am disappointed. Was looking forward to this blog post a lot since it got announced and hoped that it would tell me something to look forward to.
As it is now, after one year I am really tired of waiting for something that I actually want to play. Guess despite all the potential it has, the focus of this game seems to clearly be PvE, and so this just isn’t the game for me after all.
It’s sad and I’m disappointed because I had expected otherwise, and if I had known how this would develop, I never would have bought the game in first place.
They talk about the future to change yellow priorities, when we have RED priorities that need to be looked at first! These things should have been fixed in the BETA lol.
-1 game mode
-4v5/afk
-Skyhammer farming <—- Thought people will get banned with how quick your posts get removed/edited/infracted here on forums lol
-improper class balance (mostly core mechanic issues like conditions for example)
-nothing to make it competitive
-no rewards
-no reason to play/wait for you any longer
Patience is a virtue, but if I order a hamburger, I don’t expect the restaurant to serve me 2 buns and say, you need to wait a year for the meat, but it will be great!
^ I walk out of that restaurant, leave a 1 star rating on Yelp reviews, and never return again, while also asking for my money back. I also tell my friends about the experience
Hmm I wonder what I would tell them…
This game has the most responsive devs, with the most transparent work, with the most community involvement of any MMO I’ve ever seen. Add to that that their game is a subscription free model, and color me impressed.
Forum dwellers response? “You guys are terrible and you’re dumb for not doing it better and faster!”. I’ve never seen a game community so doted on, only to claim that they’re being ignored.
There are some more things I want out of this game also, but the overall amount of negativity really is baffling to me. I enjoy tons of aspects of GW2 and I know that most of the things that need improvement, are being actively looked into and worked on by the dedicated development team.

None of those things you mention translate into results. Clear communication is important and terrific. However, I’d gladly exchange it for better changes in a timelier fashion.

I think there is a huge difference between the PvE and PvP part here though. For PvE and its content, I would agree to all you’ve said above. Unfortunately, I am not a player who enjoys or plays much PvE at all, and “my” section of the game has been treated like the unloved step-child since the launch of the game.
It is not surprising that the mood here is negative, especially when we see other parts of the game getting a lot of love and attention. It’s been over a year now, and all that has basically happened to PvP duing that time was things getting taken away that once were there at launch (3 round tournaments) with no replacements.
So sorry that we are disappointed and impatient after more than a year of our time invested and being hopeful. I won’t keep hanging around for another couple of months for another potential blog post with news. And I perfectly understand everyone else who isn’t willing to either.

Yes more fixes are good.
But you don’t seem to realize how ‘manpower’ works.
But just saying ‘I want 2-week patches’…. that wont make Anet be able to do more work… they will still be overall outputting changes at the same rate IF NOT SLOWER, just in smaller increments…
They are the same people with the same capacity of labor, just by demanding more of them, you can’t change that.

Yeup, communication means jack-kitten.
Only people who are on the fense and about to leave tend to go to the forums looking for communication to stick around.
It won’t draw in players.
It won’t make existing players much happier.
Good patches will though.

glory is also a problem.. do u know how many matches u need to play to get 10k glory under the new system? also some ppl has spend the glory to craft dyes for at least some income. thats why i say it would just fair to send all players reward for previous wins. nobody could know exactly that glory maybe will be worth something.
