Are rankfarm servers [Red win or kik] ilegal?
Besides the fact that a hotjoin win is a LOT less rank points then unranked/ ranked Q, they are not actually rank farming. It would actually take them more time to rank up than someone that plays ranked/ unranked. The fact that the title suggests that, is they are botting on red team so they don’t actually have to play and can rank up without being at their computer. 1 mod watches the arena at all times and a set of people trade off being actually active on the red team. That is what it looks like but is in no way actually faster. If they are doing this it would suggest that the whole red team is afk besides 1 mod. This would be illegal if they are using a program to move their character.
Hotjoin win rank is 500 pts. Unranked Q loss is 500 pts/ win 1k. Ranked loss 800 pts/ win 1500. Even if you loose every ranked match you will be doing better.

another reason why it is a bad idea to use rank for matchmaking. Amazing concept: use actual gameplay results instead!

It’s a bit more complicated than that. Winning Hotjoin will only give you 500 points if you joined from the start and the match goes for longer than 6 mins. If all 3 points are capped by one side, plus fights/duels from bored players go on, the match could end before that and give less points.
You also have to take into account the time lost in Unranked/Ranked by sitting in queues (an average of 2 mins waiting in HotM, plus another 1.5 – 2 mins waiting in match because there’s always some players who never ready up), and the fact that Unranked/Ranked matches last longer on average (10 mins is the average that I’ve seen).
So, an optimal Hotjoin farm would net about 500 points every 6 mins, with maybe another 1 min downtime between new matches. Unranked would give you 1000 every 15 mins on average, and that’s only if you win. On paper, farming Hotjoin is indeed the faster route, but you’re capped at 2 tiers/day if you’re doing it for the reward tracks, so it kind of evens out.
And as far as farming ranks is concerned, this is why you don’t look at people’s ranks/titles to determine their skill (the same way you don’t look at people’s AP to determine if they’re good dungeon/Fractal runners).

I think UnR and R got exacly same rewards since last patch.

Ranked loss gives you 500 points, not 800.
More to the point, I think this Red Wins strategy falls under the match manipulation clause and it’s strictly illegal since the players manipulate the outcome of the match so that one side wins and gets the end rewards.
Yeah, I do agree that it’s not in the spirit of “proper competition”, but it’s going to be hard to enforce. What about private guild arenas, for example? They paid the gold/tokens for it, so they can do whatever they want inside, whether it be training, 1v1 or even RPing. ANet already took steps to limit farming by putting in the 2 tier limit for Hotjoin. That’s probably the best compromise for all sides.
