Q:
Bodyblock
You can already body block some projectiles to an extent, all though strafing and targeting tends to negate it. The best example I can think of is using a mesmer clone to body block a downed state warriors knockdown when stomping.

I asked the question “is bodyblock ever gonna be implemented in spvp?”
The magic 8 ball said “My answer is no.”
not body block projectile, body block players so they cant move forward, basicly stoping them or at least trying to stop them.
yeah, bodyblocking was amazing in GW1 and I think it could work in theory in GW2, but I think there might be some problems with the engine or another really good reason why they didn’t implement it in GW2. I think it has something to do with the jumping which makes bodyblocking weird….
Whether or not to implement player collision is a decision with a huge impact and is usually made early in development. It’s unlikely to change.
I’d also like to point out that if you run into Line of Warding with enough speed and latency, you end up on the other side of it after being knocked down.
They should make it a norn racial skill:
For 10 seconds you prevent enemies from running through you. 5% chance to crush enemy asura when running into it.

Just imagine what u get from just that little change. It would be so much better, so much more intense, so much more of everything. I get it why it wouldnt work in open world or wvw, but spvp would be so much more better with that implemented.
It’s not a little change. It’s simple to understand, but it has widespread repercussions for both gameplay mechanics and technical aspects of the game.
that’s why u change it only in spvp. i admit im not programer so i dont know how much work it is, but u have to admit that it would totally change pvp.

On the technical side, calculating collisions will increase server load, has to be done server-side or with server-side checks to avoid hacking, and can get pretty messy if players have high latency (hence my earlier comment about line of warding).
On the gameplay side, it will dramatically change how a lot of abilities interact. Many movement skills become far less effective because they can’t go through or over players. What do you do about pet, turrets, minions, etc? Unlike GW1, there’s a lot of terrain. Players could body block enemies into a corner, which becomes chain CC. Teleports become extremely powerful because they can go around. I can keep going, but you get the point. It’s not simple.
I’m pretty sure this doesn’t exist in GW2 because of the multiplayer aspect of the game. GW1 was not really a MMO: most of the content was instanced, with just 5-10 players in a map. Imagine the lag induced by body blocking in WvW or on a World Boss…
In a few years, in a different game, maybe.
