I love to play Guild Wars 2 as Celestial Scepter/Dagger Elementalist. The build is probably not the best out there and far from the current ‘meta’ but I like the versatility of this general purpose build and fits the way I like to play. It works fine in PvE and WvW, and I recently started playing PvP. But there I can’t select it. Can this please be added? Thanks a lot!

No, that amulet is OP and significantly limits class design.

Just want to remind you, cele engi/ele/warr has been ruling PvP for a long time before they introduced the new specialization system. Those specs are stronger and easier to play than all of today meta builds.

Everything can be ’’countered’’, but reaaaaally specific counter builds are not played as they tend to be (very) weak versus all other professions except the one or two that they counter. Besides, the Cele amulet was basically used on all professions as it contained more total stats than the other amulets. Ele was just the profession that benefitted from it the most.

Yes the ESL league after the WTS had 4-5 d/d ele.

The op was talking about scepter, as someone who played staff ele it was not OP.

Cele D/D ele was OP not the other builds and a small damage reduction, a shorter burn duration (which would of been a small condi damage reduction) would of pushed this out.

All that happened was combo D/D ele could put out more damage/ have higher sustain/ with the most mobility in game.

Only on D/D, making it a tiny bit less of everything would of made it fall in line with everything. I mean ORNG and TCG took the Abjured to the limits when only playing 1 d/d ele.

People on this thread are acting like the CELE meta was straight crazyness when many builds didnt require a cele amulet once they introduced the 6-6-6 format.

Things like DPS warrior with rampage, Power necro, burn guardian, and power medi guardian benefited from the 6-6-6 format during the cele ammy meta.

Seriously quit acting like the amulet was OP when it was literally 1 build d/d ele which was better then staff ele ( dagger/dagger > staff) and the OP asked for scepter/dagger which was also less then dagger/dagger.

As PvP Celestial it does not exist, at least atm, does anyone have a nice Elementalist Scepter/Dagger build for PvP? I don’t see any on the MetaBattle site.

Preferably something balanced between offense, defense and healing.

Why would we call it a imbalance?

Look at the amulets we have now? Tell me the difference?

You are like the person who says the 2-6-6 system is better because of better build opportunity but everyone knows that if you wanted to play at a high level you had top run a 0-0-2-6-6 build or a 0-6-0-4-6 build. ( ele and necro)

So what if 3 classes on a team cele. On every team you had at least 1 power, most times thief. 2-3 cele amulets and 1 X build whether you wanted the burn guardian, 1 vs 1 necro etc etc.

The biggest difference between now and then is his skills. Every skill you play now is more defensive with low possible CD.

You use to see players use rampage, battle standard, bulls rush for warriors. You use to see Lich form and eles who would use Elite glyphs.

The illusion that something is wrong because a majority of players are using is false. Heck a team of non cele amulet players could beat a cele amulet team if they were better and in FACT before the D/D phase i was on a FA team who which ran 2 cele rangers, 2 cele engy and a shoutbow warrior and we lost to a better balanced 2-3 cele with 2 burst players.

That is balance when you can pick and choose a style of play, choose utility skills and elite skills that are different for a certain situation.

Please show me the build variation on warrior, ele, rev from S2-S5.

I love seeing how condi build for warrior is the exact same as a power build except with a different amulet where as prior to HOT the beserker warrior was a huge thing as well as a cele warrior. The difference once again is they used 2 different trait lines and 4 different utility and elite skills.

Lots has changed since it’s removal. Games actually end instead of go the entire alotted time to end 150-123.

It’s been there. myself tried various statistic combination including trait synergy whilst taking other map mechanics into consideration. once the gate open and the clock start ticking less you’ll find out, well may be its a little bit too overboard on some various traits and map mechanics that give additional statistical boost but the numbers are similar if not identical. which keep the game interesting and fun to play.

Maybe they could test it for like a week or two to see how it goes? Personally, I wouldn’t want another cele meta with endless boring fights but maybe testing it with HOT will be different. Or they could lower the stats so that the total is in line with the other amulets and it would be totally fine to bring it back.

Ok, the reason Cele was OP is because of might stacking. Plain and simple. If your class could do it your class was OP. If not it was UP.

Your basic four stat amulet has two stats that are 1050 and two stats that are 560.

Cele was everything is 560. So looking back at the 2 560 stats given by a four stat amulet gives Cele an advantage over every 4 stat amulet.

But those 2 stats at 1050 makes it inferior to the 4 stat amulet you say?
That’s where might stacking comes in. 25 stacks of might on something as simple has a Necro running spite line is incredibly easy to maintain. That gives an additional 750 power and condition damage. That makes the Cele amulet in the hands of classes that can easily maintain 25 stacks of might 1310 in two stats and 560 in every other stat. Then add in the ease of gaining fury and you get about a 50% crit chance. The numbers on Cele gave an unfair advantage to some classes while leaving other classes behind in the dust.

A team full of cele players lost vs the team with 2 or 3. The person who took control of the FA team had the idea like many in this thread that cele was complete aids who could not be beaten. Not taking into account all the other factors which can lead to a good team comp.

Also the games that didnt end happened with HOT. It wasnt because of the Cele ammy meta. It was because of HOT specs.

I still have this pic because people will stay and that bubble and try to say things that things that are not true just because they want to say something is OP.

Right now no one wants to play PvP, there are people on the leader board with gold 2 rankings.

Ill throw out the best team comp i played in, we won some TOL matches and lost to the team in the finals vs the Abjured in TOL 2.

It was a maruder mesmer, maruder thief, Myself on a power warrior (beserker) a bunker guardian (not cele) and a cele ele.

It only needed some small tinkering. There is a huge time gap between the cele engy- d/d ele and the OP d/d metas and most confuse them as the same thing.

Exactly the main point. Bunker-ish was too boring given our current game mode, as someone stated the longer you prolong in fights the more you attain them needs to be on par in terms of Celestial statistic; am not saying having a Grawl on your team make you at disadvantage but remember rip off or not, mobas has/had a Hero to baby sit until you hit the needs to carry games, in our game its the same once you hit the Seven to Five minutes mark time or in-between and you let them farm you downwards (speaking of time limit) you’re already at downhill unless you farm them first.

They nerved the might stacking (and also removed the might from the elementalist fire line) to balance the celestial amulet, but because they didn’t communicate with the PvP team the PvP team balanced their game mode by removing the celestial amulet.

In consequence the elementalist class got royally kittened.

After removing the celestial amulet, Anet, being as amazing as ever with balance, forgot to undo all the nerf they’ve done to the elementalist in its name.

i just wanted to jump in here and point out that a lot of people seem to be forgetting about the changes to every other proffesion since HoT when talking about D/D Elementalist, as a long time D/D ele player I can guarantee you that even if celestial amulet was brought back D/D ele would not be op, Simply due to the fact that classes like Condi berserkers, Reapers, Daredevil’s etc all can shut down a D/D ele pretty effectively if played correctly, Daredevils can completely shut down a D/D ele with headshot+PI after they have used there (long-ish) Cd’s, eg armour of earth and mistform. So a +1 from a thief in a pvp match would quickly remove a D/D ele. and that’s just 1 example. Besides, the general power creep in HoT would mean D/D ele would not be able to sustain is self no way near aswell as they used to be able to. Anyway, that’s just my 2cents on how D/D ele would look somewhat in this meta.

I do however think celestial would become an issue on proffesions like Druid, Mesmer and scrapper. So despite the fact celestial would be fine on D/D I feel like other proffesion a would be OP with it.

If you add Cele:
-Ele will turn back to be Top tier without any real counter.
-Warriors will find they’re way to inflict insane direct and condition damage with even beter survavibility than what they actually have, becoming insanely stronger than now (and now they’re on the top 3)
-Rangers will become totally unkillable, you will never ever be able to kill one, while they will lose only few damage.
Necromancer will finally find a good way to be good. But everything will become even stronger, making them stay down (again), without even the chance to be a cele counter as they was back in time (a lot of changes happen since that time).
Engi will become insanely bunkerish

Basicly everything will turn back to be bunker, every class that was OP with Cele will beocme even more OP because of the elite specializzations and the game will slow down and turn back to be a bunker game.

Please, don’t let this game turn back to that time, we already have too much hybrid and “bunker” classes, don’t add others.

Your statement is incorrect.

Necros counter eles in 1 vs 1 as well as 1 vs 1 warriors.

Also Fivegauge got into it with a player claiming to beat ESL players all the time, on these forums.

On engy five gauge destroyed the other player playing d/d ele.

The problem with cele only came with d/d ele which was top 3 in sustain ,damage, and team support.

I dont think asking for ele to have a role that isnt heal bot is to much to ask as well.

You seem to forget that the elementalist class was destroyed to the point of being only a healing bot class. We lost all the might on the fire line, might itself was nerved, now they will nerf the elementalist sigils… Every classes has gain damage with HoT except for the elementalist.

Can we just make the class viable again without making it a heal bot class?

Was it 2014 or 2015 where the winning pro league team had 4 d/d eles and 1 thief on their team?

Everyone is forgetting what really happened.

Yes the ESL league after the WTS had 4-5 d/d ele.

The op was talking about scepter, as someone who played staff ele it was not OP.

Cele D/D ele was OP not the other builds and a small damage reduction, a shorter burn duration (which would of been a small condi damage reduction) would of pushed this out.

All that happened was combo D/D ele could put out more damage/ have higher sustain/ with the most mobility in game.

Only on D/D, making it a tiny bit less of everything would of made it fall in line with everything. I mean ORNG and TCG took the Abjured to the limits when only playing 1 d/d ele.

People on this thread are acting like the CELE meta was straight crazyness when many builds didnt require a cele amulet once they introduced the 6-6-6 format.

Things like DPS warrior with rampage, Power necro, burn guardian, and power medi guardian benefited from the 6-6-6 format during the cele ammy meta.

Seriously quit acting like the amulet was OP when it was literally 1 build d/d ele which was better then staff ele ( dagger/dagger > staff) and the OP asked for scepter/dagger which was also less then dagger/dagger.

But the cele amulet was factually and objectively OP. There is just no arguing about that.
Celestial had higher stats than any other amulet in the game, fact.
Classes which would make good use of all the stats that cele offered were OP and became the go-to classes for anyone serious at PvP, fact.
D/D cele elementalist is just the most infamous example, but it wasn’t the only class/build that benefited a little too much from the celestial power creep. Warrior, mesmer and guardian all benefited from the celestial power creep.

You know something is wrong with your game’s balance when you have dozens of amulets to choose from but the go-to amulet for half of your classes is celestial.

The illusion that something is wrong because a majority of players are using is false. Heck a team of non cele amulet players could beat a cele amulet team if they were better and in FACT before the D/D phase i was on a FA team who which ran 2 cele rangers, 2 cele engy and a shoutbow warrior and we lost to a better balanced 2-3 cele with 2 burst players.

That is balance when you can pick and choose a style of play, choose utility skills and elite skills that are different for a certain situation.

Please show me the build variation on warrior, ele, rev from S2-S5.

Show me the great change since cele has been removed.

So you use a game you lost where 6-7/10 players were using the Cele amulet. Kinda proves your counter’s argument not yours LOL.

Lots has changed since it’s removal. Games actually end instead of go the entire alotted time to end 150-123.

Also the games that didnt end happened with HOT. It wasnt because of the Cele ammy meta. It was because of HOT specs.

Eles was not destroyed, the only thing removed was the cele ele, and a rework on Diamond Skin (that is not a nerf, only a reasonable rework).

Ele should obtain a different role, that’s correct, but I also want a different role for my necro than spam corrupts and die. I’m asking for that since long time ago. nothing happen. but we still hope!

Ele still can play different roles than healbot, you can play staff dps or fresh air build. they’re viable, if you use the correct utility to survive and flee. For shure not the best dps of this meta but still viable, with high defensive skills and high aoe/single target damage (depending on the build).

you can play a different role, the “problem” is that the ele is so good to be a healbot that you’ll be forced to play that because every player will ask you to heal.

The ele is a healbot but still able to inflict damage, the meta build use the Mender amulet, that grant you high Power and good precision. If you add a permanent Fury, you’re able to inflict a seriously good direct damage if you make some practice with skill rotation.
The ele meta isn’t a pure healbot as the cleric guardian was for years, forced to be only a support class and nothing more for ages, you can hit hard and fast with the lightning attunement (the overcharge inflict a really good aoe direct damage, for example).

Yes, it’s not strong as the warrior but it’s the bunker build that inflict the better damage ever of this last seasons, granting you the best survavibility and team utility of this game.

A good ele can really make his team win, you’re not “only a healbot”, you’re the heart of your team. if you survive your team survive.

You got some nerfs because ele was able to inflict damage as a dps, survive as a bunker and heal as a support, spamming might and condi clean all the time (with auras everywhere since the HoT release).

Claim back the Celestial is not the answer.

ask for a better rework on weapons, for better synergie between your traits, ask for better utility skills, but not to have back the celestial to become OP again.

The ele still have more defensive skills than all the other classes and can inflict a really good damage with different dps builds. There’s seriously no need to have back the celestial amulet.

You can make a DH and roll your face on the keys without having ever played the class and you’ll end up doing better than an elementalist that has been practicing for 5000 hours.

This is where your diversity is. In the long end the elementalist class has been destroyed. When the game was launched you could play elementalist with a zerk amulet and be viable.

You’ve confused people not having learnt to play the game at that stage with diversity, when people (notably thieves and to a lesser extent mesmers) learnt to play the game zerk eles disappeared (along with zerk everything else for the most part).

The way for this game to have had better build diversity (as in more builds viable or close to), would have been to have a more restrictive trait/weapon/skill/gear system, so builds could actually be balanced separately.

E.G – classes have three separate trees of which only one is active at a time, so if “bunker ele” is too strong you can nerf that tree / skills without nerfing “damage dealer ele”, as opposed to what happens in this joke of a game most of the time, where OP build X gets nerfed which also nerfs other already sub-par builds on the class.

Celestial should be readded, but not with the previous quality of stats. It was OP, but it can be balanced. Eles could have a second/third viable build with it.

Also, I’d much rather fighting the old DD eles than have no other build options. Also, the old DD build won’t work anymore because Diamond Skin was nerfed and a nerfed Celestial Amulet would also reduce its effectiveness.

Adding Celestial is not the solution. Elementalist needs core trait redesigns so that you are not automatically picking Earth Water Tempest or otherwise being trash.

I’m all for build diversity but don’t ask for cele thinking that’s what you’re going to get. Instead, ask for the build.

Honestly ele wouldn’t even be the best with cele ammy atm, I can see cele reaper, DH and zeker being way more oppressive then cele tempest.
